Both series follow protagonists who have yet to find out who they really are or where they really want to go in life. As the series goes on, both protagonists continue to grow due to the new friendships/relationships they obtain, finally discovering what they truly wanted in life all along. Both are slice of life/romance series. If you remove the otaku/neet element of NHK ni Youkoso it would look like Yesterday wo Utatte.

Both isekai animes, that follow OP protagonists. Both protagonists have their own group/party, which includes a small harem element. The personality of the two main characters are different, however they both share a similar goal of saving their new worlds from evil.
