Gundam 00 was explicitly inspired by Full Metal Panic, and it shows, copying its idea of having a male lead who was a child soldier in the Middle East, with a former enemy from said war coming to haunt him in the present, while he works for an extra-governmental organization that intervenes in conflicts with the goal of ending them, all while contrasting this millitary affairs with the lives of a high school couple. If you liked 00, check out Full Metal Panic for a better take on the same concept.

Both Gundam 00 Season 2 and Gundam Unicorn follow main characters with an extremely idealistic goal of ending all conflict with understanding, while also using violent methods to achieve that, fighting against an Earth Federation that had previously been considered good is suddenly treated as a villain, get involved in dull romance subplots that take away screentime from developing why the heroes aren't hypocrites, and have heavy use space magic to justify their mecha forcefully shutting down any enemy who disagrees with them.

Both are Kawamori-helmed mecha anime about an ancient evil that feeds on humans reappearing after not being seen for thousands of years, where the lead character is an irreverent and strange wild guy with a rocky friendship with his team mates, and the series are light on plot with a character-focused slow burn pacing outside of the fight scenes. Also, their soundtracks are great.
