So, Most Of Us Have Seen The Typical Anime Comedy, Right? A Ton Of Hot Girls, A Bizarre Situation, And Very Brick Humor *Brick Humor, Ie: So Stupid It's Funny.* With Lucky Star This Is Not The Case ... Most Anime Comedies Will Make Me Smile And Maybe Giggle A Bit. Lucky Star Is An Anime That Actually Made Me Laugh, Like, *Really* Laugh. There Is No Crazy Plot To This One, Ie : No Super Powers, No Saving The World, Ext Ext Ext, And Is Purely A Slice Of Life. One Thing That Makes This Anime Popular Is The Refrences It Makes To Other
...
Anime. I Didn't Understand Many Of Them, I Guess I Haven't Watched Enough Anime Yet =/ *lol?* ... But, This Show Is Obviously Pointed Towards Anime Geeks. End All Be All: It's Worth Sacrificing Half An Hour To See If You Love It Or Not.
Story : 5
I Felt I Should Leave The Story Field At 5 Since There Wasn't Really A Story Worth Grading =/
Art : 6
Nothing Special. Aside From The Cutesy Character Designs Which I Thought Were Adorable, Which Is Why I Bumped This From 5 To 6.
Sound : 5
I Didn't Notice A Track That Stuck Out, So A 5 For Sound Since It Wasn't Good Or Bad. *Which Is Generous Considering I Did Not Like The Op At All.
Character : 9
This Show (Like Most Comedies) Relies Very Heavily On The Characters, And So It Delivers. I Loved All The Characters On Exception Of One (Patricia). Konata Izumi Being Hands Down "The Best!".
Enjoyment : 8
Not A Show You Could Marathon Easily, But It's Relaxing, Funny, And Just "Cute". I Had Fun Watching This.
Overall : 8
I Actually Gave This Show A 7 On My Personal List, But I Gave It An 8 Here Because I Realize I'm Much More Of A Drama Fan, So I Tried Not Be Biased.
I Know This Is A Review And Not A Recommendation, But, This Show Is Very Very Similar To Nichijou. I Felt I Should Mention That. :P

Philosophy : That's What This Show Is All About.
Each Episode Is Designed To Make You Think.
Story : Episodic, So There Are Many Stories. Each Is Very Good. There Was One Story In The Middle Somewhere I Did Not Like, But That Was It. Each Story Is Set Up To Present You With A Universal Truth, Or The Other Side Of A Controversy...
Art : There Is This Weird Thing You Will Notice Pretty Soon Into Starting The Series. There Are Horizontal Lines Through The Video. No, Your File Isn't Messed Up, It's Supposed To Be Like That. It's Weird At First, But I Got Used To
...
It, And Actually Like It Now.
Sound : I Liked The Op And Ed. But I Didn't Even Notice Any Soundtrack... =/
Character : Kino, Loved Her... Hermes Was Better Than I Expected Him To Be.
Overall, This Is A Great Show. If You Haven't Watched It Then You Are Missing Out And I Urge You To Go Watch The First Episode At Least.

This Show : A Well Devised Practical Joke On The Viewers... But, If You Take A Step Back And Appreciate The Work That Went Into It, Then You'll See How Clever It Was.
Let's Get The Negatives Down First :
-School Days... Well, Although It Was Very Good. This Was Certainly Not Realistic Like So Many People Had Promised Me. Just Because The Main Character Likes To Have Sex Doesn't Qualify It For Being Anything Like Real Life.
-This Show Pissed Me Off Like No Other. This Show Made Me F*cking ANGRY!
-Makoto, Ie : Least Favourite Character... EVER
-The Entire Show Is Very Forced. Every Choice Made
...
In This Anime Was Obviously Intended To Add To The Drama And Had No Sense Of Realism.
Now Let's Get To The Good Points :
-This Show Set Out To Piss Me Off, And Succeeded. It's Very Good At What It's Trying To Do. Anger Is An Emotion, And They Were Very Good At Bringing That Emotion Out. So There Is An Emotional Connection With The Show, Just Not A Typical One.
-The Ending, Oh My Gosh. It's Worth Watching Just For That. One Of The Best Endings I Have Seen. Though Again, A Bit Un-Realistic.
-Though I Would Like To Think That Everything That Happened In This Show Was Retarded, It Left Me Wanting More After Each Episode. Much Like A Movie With A Sad Ending. You "Say" That You Didn't Want It To End That Way. But Really It Improved Your Opinion Of The Movie.
In Any Case : This Show Did Piss Me Off. But I Liked It. If You Haven't Already Then You Should At Least Give This Show A Chance.

there's not really many negative things i can say about this show, so i will just get the few complaints of mine out at the beginning here;
-the misa character can be quite the mood-killer...
-the near character just seemed like a pointless repetition...
-the shinigamis are just... ugly...
now that those minor bugs of mine are out of the way lets get to the positive side;
-love the sort of *battle of the geniuses* theme. if you really pay attention there are so many little details to the plot that make it un-fold into a wonderful mystery-detective sort of thing.
-i'm quite the fan of the very dark, psychological drama
...
shows, and this show is very very dark, and very very psychological...
-in most shows you kinda know what you want to happen in the end, like if it's a love-polygon you already know who you want the main character to hook-up with in the end... with death note, i had no idea what i wanted to happen, i was clueless to it, which meant that what ever turn the show took nothing ever phased me and made me say "noooo not that!" ... i suppose this is a great way to get swept away into the story
-this show is great in the anti-hero department, it really puts you inside the head of a criminal
so those are all my positive and negative comments, now down to regulation;
-story : though the story is somewhat of a cliche *some guy goes crazy with power* it's also very well-done. sort of like if i took the *saving the princess from the dragon* cliche and fleshed it out, and gave it a very refreshing style, then turned it into the best fantasy adventure story you ever heard. : 9
-art : the art was obviously very high-quality, though some of the facial expressions seemed very odd to me, but i assume this was to add emphases. i really liked a lot of the things they would do with the art to effect the mood, like giving everything the red tint, or whenever light was giving off that *evil* aura they would turn his eyes bright red. : 8
-sound : in regards to voices i had watched the dubbed version. i remember thinking a lot of lights little sister's lines sounded kinda forced, but she doesn't talk very much anyway so it's not a big deal. other than that i thought it had very well-done dubs. *i watched the first few episodes with subs, i liked the dubs better =/ that's an opinionated matter though*. in regards to music i was really pretty oblivious to it. i didn't really think it was anything special that i would go and get the ost for, but it certainly wasn't bad and there were plenty of neat tracks. : 7
-character : this is certainly the most "wow" department. this show does such a wonderful job with interesting characters and as i said before really puts you inside their head. i find it hard to put it into any other words than "wow" ... : 10
-enjoyment : i flew through this series in two days and just couldn't get enough of it, the only reason it loses a point here is because the second arc seemed like repetition... : 9
-overall : 10
* i feel bad when i find myself giving something such a high grade... but ... i tried as hard as i could to not be "that die-hard fan" but it really is just *that good* ...* so definitely, definitely give this show a try if you haven't already!

i had no idea this was a "short" anime series until after the first episode, in fact i thought the video player had just screwed up and cut me off :P however the anime short thing was new to me but i honestly enjoyed it. when watching this keep in mind that there's not really supposed to be a story, just short videos leading up to some cute joke or something along those lines "like reading a comic strip in the news" "actually these reminded me lots of the garfield shorts skits in-between the segments of garfield and friends." ... you can finish this whole
...
series in little over half an hour... this never really made me crack up laughing, but i was smiling the whole time while watching this ^.^
- so, this is only like half an hour, and as valuable as your time is this show takes it with a cheap price, which makes it worth the bargain. :P

when sequels pop up you find a lot of disappointed people to go with them. sequels have it tough because people expect more of the first, so the second they come up with a new story it's too different. in this case i'm sure everybody wanted to see more "hei and yin" and how they escape and all that. *also, be sure to watch dtb:gaiden before season 2, it may have come out afterwords but should be watched prior; saves you a lot of "wait, where the hell is yin" drama*. SO! try not to look at this as a continuation but rather a fresh
...
new story that goes a long with starting a new anime, because this sequel does in fact have a story of it's own.
the story itself i would grade better than season 1, frankly because the story in season 1 seemed forced into the end *like when you start writing a book, going really great, 100 pages in... then wait, what should the climax be?* also, i really hate filler episodes, season 2 doesn't really have any *probably just because it is only half as long as season 1* - could just be my own speculation but i liked the art in season 2 better as well, they didn't really change anything but quality wise anyway...
intro song - approved ^.

hmmm where to start...
- i read this after i had watched the anime, though there is a big time gap in between, so this was a nice return to the story. the big difference "which i liked" is that the manga *and anime* are both based off of a visual novel, and in a visual novel you can go whichever path you want too. in the anime it tries to cover all the paths *which i dis-liked; it seemed scatter-brained* but with the manga it only focuses on one arc instead of jumping around time in a bunch of *what-if* scenarios...so i suppose that is
...
disappointing if it wasn't your favorite arc "but i assume it is most yosuga no sora fans favorite arc" .... "i also noticed the end was a bit different, but pretty similar, i don't really know which i liked better; probably the manga... maybe?... idk >.>"
the art was well done "though i had a hard time depicting the flash backs because the younger versions of the characters don't look much different from the current " ... i enjoyed the few colored pages ^.^
characters all in-tact and well placed *the creator was clever enough to find a way to integrate all the characters into just one arc without changing up the story very much at all*
in-short i thought the manga was great, rivaling the awesome anime, and i think it is most definitively worth your time. even if you have already seen the anime, the manga is fresh enough that it will still entertain you "though, like i did, i would suggest a time-gap so you don't get bored with the same story twice; could hinder your opinion"

First, there is incest in this show. I hope that doesn't turn you away, because I loved this series, but if it does I would understand why. I suppose that's your fair warning; you have to go into this show with an open mind to that sort of thing.
The story is divided into arcs, and not the way you are used to. This is my biggest complaint about this show: the scatter-brained mess of separate timelines jumping here to there in an incredibly non-coherent approach at adapting a visual novel... However! There is a remedy to this! Getting an ordered list of what episodes
...
to watch for each arc, so you aren't a victim of the horrible pacing and can simply enjoy the 4 stories separately. (I will post the list at the bottom of my review).
The Sora arc was my favourite by far, and the only reason I consider this show phenomenal. The rest of this show is still enjoyable though. My rating of 9 comes almost entirely from the Sora arc. That, and the ost, which I will talk about below.
There was also some stupid as all-get-out chibi skit at the end of each episode that I didn't even watch... >.>
For characters (ordered by my liking, favourites being at top, least favourites at bottom):
-Haru: The nice guy harem lead who happens to be very indecisive.
-Sora: The cute goth twin sister; tsundere.
-Akira: The cute, hyper, ditsy girl.
-Ryouhei: The pervy best friend.
-Kazuha: The classy rich girl.
-Kozue: The normal girl nobody cares about...
-Motoka: The maid featured in the chibi skits.
-Nao: The big busted girl with glasses.
The art is a huge success in this anime, it's absolutely wonderful, I loved the character designs and the array of pretty scenery (particularly when they would show the clouds in the sky).
The ost is my favourite ost by far! Even if you never watch this show I would still strongly recommend listening to the ost! It uses a lot of piano and violin. There's a specific track that I love with piano, violin, and a steel stringed guitar "I think". I don't know the name of that track, since it's in japanese, but I know it is track 5 on the anime ost (the vn ost isn't as good).
To sum up what I think of this show in a nutshell: It's a great dark, sad, drama. Great art and ost. I didn't mind the incest, but I know some people will. The sex scenes were a bit much, but did set a mood and aren't just for fan service. The timeline thing sucks, so use the list I'm posting below. The chibi skits seemed annoying, but i only watched 2 of them. I wouldn't recommend this show to everyone, but it was certainly a favourite of mine. I tried really really hard not to sound like an obsessed fan X.x , but I really am...
Here is the episode arcs order list I promised above (My favourite arc at the top and least favourite at the bottom). I would strongly suggest watching the episodes in these orders:
-Sora: 1,7,10,11,12
-Akira: 1,2,5,6
-Kazuha: 1,2,3,4
-Nao: 1,7,8,9
-------------------------------------------------------
The above review is my second attempt at reviewing the Yosuga no Sora anime. My first attempt (that has already been up for awhile) is below.
-------------------------------------------------------
you see a lot of people call this anime out on being a hentai with a sh*ty story to go with it; of course there is always that taboo problem with incest that turns people off.
*showing to a friend of mine, first episode, everything going good until...*
"ewww! they kissed that's nasty! they're siblings! what are you showing me?!"
i might feel this way because i don't have any sibling and could just "not understand" the nasty-ness here. BUT i will say that regardless on your opinion on incest, it makes one hell of a romance drama!
i liked this anime, i liked it a lot; as much as people will think i watch it to "get off" i can honestly say *though of course there are some hottish scenes* that YES i did infact watch it for the story >.>
now that i am on the topic of the story, lets talk about it some... simply i'll just say i liked it, i don't think it's necessary to get into the whole emotional/romance/psychological thing so i will skip straight to my complaints about it. my big complaint was how there are plenty of separate time-lines in the show. * basically, sense this has roots in visual novels, each time frame is about how haru gets with each girl* so there will be some story, then wham!: back to the end of episode 2 where it shows a sort of "what would have happen IF" ...the story i liked the most was the sora arc, yeah that's right, the incestuous story. if you feel like taking my word for it the sora timeline takes place with episodes "1,7,10,11,12" but if you're guna watch it i would suggest just watching the whole thing. its not all phenomenal but is all watchable.
one last note before i end the review; the soundtrack is wonderful! if i remember right there were a few tracks i thought were weird, but most of it is very pretty. there is a particular track i remember loving *track 5 on the ANIME ost; the vn ost isn't very good* that uses "i think" a steel string guitar, piano, and violin. if you never watch the anime i still suggest listening to this song ^.^ i also think it represents the anime pretty well so i will link it *regarding i can link things in reviews, have never tried before o.O* -

this anime certainly gets a lot of sh*t for it's art style. but i certainly liked it, more than any other show i have watched to date *except maybe ef...* i thought it was very colorful and just "pretty"... so it was different but so-what? "i admit this created an awkward mix of a dark story and a bright art style" SO! don't let people discourage you from watching it when they say the art sucks, think of it as a nice change to re-fresh the series and make it seem new and interesting. "i also admit there were some shaky stills in the first
...
ep that were pretty silly"
the story was better than the first season *the first season doesn't really have much of a story* but still only "so-so". but the very well-done characters make up for the lack story to where you don't really even notice it... "i relate this to how to love-ru had the worst story line ever, but i still watched and enjoyed it"
i have only watched the dubbed version, but as far as the voice acting went, i had no problem with it, there was one character whom i remember hating the voice of, but he was a minor character and i cant even remember his name... i do remember he had one cool quote "that's why the only solutions we devise, are riddled in blood-shed" "the voice actors are different for season 2 in the japanese version, but the dub actors are the same for both seasons"
anyway i enjoyed this anime; i would say it's definitively worth your time. *though i seem to be outnumbered =/*
