Forgive me but this will turn into a RANT.
I discovered this manga via the other manga that I am currently reading which I am not sure if it was Hirunaka no Ryuusei or Kinkyori Renai (any from those two) and since these two manga are really great, I thought of giving this a try.
Art 8/10
I was first attracted to the art. It's not that different to a lot of manga, it was also beautiful so I said to myself "this might be good as well" but, boy I was wrong.
Character 4/10
Okay, one of the elements I was looking for in a manga (or any stories
...
for that matter) is the Character. I want a character that progresses as the story goes on. I want a character who gives you a period for an impression only to give you an exclamation point at the end. I want a character, even for a villain to be likeable as much as possible, something that makes you want to decide if you would like it or not and when you decided not to like it, it does something that makes you go "awww." Heroine Shikkaku only gave me annoying characters.
Enjoyment 3/10 (this will be explained further in the story part)
Story 3/10
Childhood Friends.
A girl who longs to be a heroine for her childhood friend Rita but only acts as a side character.
She wants him to notice her. he notices and fell in love with another girl (almost. or Rita is just an egoistical jerk)
I have read this manga up to the 30th chapter because from chapter 2 when I realized the story was going nowhere, I was still hoping for it to pass my standards. It was just a simple shoujo manga and yet it fails to deliver the whole point of the story. I dislike how the main heroine keeps going on and on and on about being the heroine and yet does nothing. and when she did, it was almost too late, the guy had already a girlfriend.
I dislike how the guy keeps leading on the main heroine and yet won't break up with the girlfriend. And I dislike the girlfriend for being too nice. No person could be that nice.
I never knew what happened at the end since I dropped the manga. There might be some cool revelations at the end (though I doubt it) but over all,I dislike this manga. I might probably try and drag myself to finish the remaining chapters of this manga. 'til then, this will remain a 3/10 rating.

I'm surprised to see that there's not a single review for this manga, yet. Well, this will probably more of an opinion than a review, so I'm going to make it plain and simple.
The plot/story is very simple (8). A delinquent guy who actually has a soft heart especially for his friends and family, who joined a club in honour of the grandfather whom he adores so much.
This is more of a music genre. I was reluctant to read this at first because I don't exactly know what a Koto is, how it sounds like (it probably sound like a guitar or something), etc. But
...
the Art (which I rated 8) is kind of enticing so I gave it a try.
The characters (8) are those you always see in a manga. But they do have good individual points that make the manga really interesting.
Enjoyment (9). There is so much this manga could offer. Too many feels. And not to mention that it's really hard to make a manga that requires music. Like I said, this is more of a music genre. I never read these kinds of manga. I watched Nodame Cantabile for the same reason. I'd rather really hear the music than just read it. Because, imagine reading a song lyrics that you don't know how it sounds like. of course, that won't give too much impact on a reader, right? But, this manga seem to have pulled it off. it might be the art. Or the sfx thingy, or the characters' expressions whenever they play the damn Koto. It could be anything. But the manga still pulled it off. I didn't know what a Koto sounds like. but I did get goosebumps during that performance in front of all the students. it was totally amazing. You get dragged in inside the manga and be one of the audience. It's a different experience for a reader like me.
A highly recommended manga :)

Being in a country where embalming is a practice, I could probably relate to the thought where "the family members would want the deceased to look how he/she usually was when he/she's still alive"
Before I go straight to my review, let me just tell you something to further prove my point. Just recently, my grandfather died. He died of an illness so he was really thin when he died. After the embalming process, my grandfather looked more fat (not totally but the healthy kindof fat) than he was when he died. He didn't look like he died of an illness and he does look like
...
he was actually sleeping. He even has this little smile in his face. So, we thought: "He was probably happy now that he's not suffering anymore."
before, I didn't really care about those people who worked as an embalmer. But, after reading this manga, I thought, this is what they actually do. Ease the burden of the family members who were left by the deceased.
Stories are captivating and at times, heartbreaking.
The art is okay. It really does exceeds my expectations whenever it reveals how Shinjyurou embalmed the corpse (I know that sounded weird)
Characters is an okay as well. I actually understand Shinjyurou's need to hold something warm after embalming a corpse. It's more of a psychological effect. It seemed like the trauma of seeing his mother being embalmed by his father in front of him kind of retained in his subconscious mind and that it resurfaces via sexual drive. I love how the characters were portrayed in every chapter.
It's a weird kind of manga imo, but overall, it is entertaining and of course, it does after all teaches a lesson or two :)

Okay~ Honestly, this is the very first H Manga that I totally enjoyed~
I have always thought H manga are only read because of the H scenes. With a little plot and many H scenes and you're good to go~ But I guess Velvet Kiss proved me wrong.
Despite the many H scenes, Velvet Kiss still managed to put off a good plot. The H are just there because it's just something a warm-blooded human being does everyday. It's natural (although the orgies are kinda bit fucked up).
It has a real substance, the characters are well played, and the art is really good. I even found myself
...
falling in love with Nitta-san~♥
It has gotten me really hooked the very first time I read it. I thought it was just some lame H manga with good H scenes but then no, I found myself feeling all the emotions the characters felt. I didn't just read every single page~ I felt all of it (now, this is a bit weird since it's an H Manga. lol)
Anyway, I won't write this review too long. BOTTOM LINE: Velvet Kiss is a very good read. two thumbs up for me :)

Okay~ since the other reviewers have already made almost all points of view regarding this anime (including summary and what they think about the art and everything) so, here's a simple review of mine.
I always regarded Ecchi, Comedy, Parody anime as something to pass the time. For the reasons: 1.) It is hilarious (who doesn't want a good laugh?) 2.) The story is light, not too complicated (like I said, just something to pass the time) 3.) Full of ecchi moments (I know I sound like a perverted old woman) 4.) Also, full of cute moments~
But, this anime, isn't JUST an ecchi, parody or a
...
something-really-hilarious-and-not-too-serious anime~ It is more than that. Comedy-wise, it didn't disappoint me. I find myself laughing hard at all the funny scenes which makes me feel better everyday~ But, it didn't fail to give every episode a meaning, too.
This anime is light and yet it has substance (if you know what I mean). A very good watch, indeed! ;) Highly recommended, so I gave it a perfect score. :)

I am a fan of detective-like stories. And being a NEET myself, I can somehow relate here to Alice. And just as she said
"I have been gazing through windows across the internet to see the world. A grossly limited and twisted world, isn't it?"
Anyway, I just finished seeing this anime. Knowing it's been completed quite a while back, I've only got the time to watch it recently. And I'm glad to have watched this series. It got me really satisfied with all the turn of events.
This was another series that got me really hooked up from the very first episode up to the last. if
...
only I could watch it continuously without stopping, I might have.
Story: Great stories. There are some episodes that kinda throw me off a bit. Like I would have thought to myself "seriously, this is just a stupid kind of case. you just wasted an episode!" But after sometime, things began to get interesting once more. Yeah, the story was just your typical detective story there is. But it has something that not all detective stories have. It has a great plot. Something that's continuously progressing until you reach the very conclusion of it. every episode has deeper meanings than just seeing it. It's like you don't have to watch it with your own eyes and just enjoy the episode or get bored by it. You have to watch it very seriously, carefully, chewing every words, digesting every information and let the conclusion not just stir your brains but your very emotions as well.
Art is Good. typical art. Not very catchy but at least it doesn't hurt the eyes.
Characters are quite great. they have really different characters being portrayed. Not everyone is similar. Really unique individuals that found each other and formed a bond. Well, that's how things are but then there was not an annoying character ever in the whole series.
Enjoyment, well yeahh I actually enjoyed the whole series. Like I said, I am a fan of detective type stories.
Over all: This is just a great anime. Totally love everything about it. And the ending is beautifully written and portrayed. A bit sad, yeahh but the kind of sadness that doesn't really hurt. Two thumbs up.
This might be below the belt/crossing the line but those who rated this anime low might have watched this only with their eyes. They didn't savor every moment and maybe didn't really get the true meaning behind the story.
But then, every people has their own opinions, so I'm not one to talk.
Enjoy!

I wasn't really a fan of any manhwa. Whenever I see one, I'd just shrug it off. I always thought, there is nothing more interesting than mangas. I'm glad I didn't stick to that. A friend recommended me this manhwa and I was like "Okay.. I'll try reading it.." But I wasn't really planning to. (Don't misunderstood, it's not like I hate Korea or something like that. I don't have against them.)
First: The chapters are too long. I barely ready a manga that's got a 100+ chapters. How much more if it's a manhwa?
Second: Right, it's a manhwa.
But my curiosity won over me. It's one
...
of the top manga weekly, so I tried reading it. And just like that. The very first time I read the first chapter, I was already hooked. I can't stop reading it. And I always look forward to new chapters every week. I always wanted to be one of those people who read it first.
The story is great. It's always entertaining. It gets you thinking about the next chapter, about what will happen next. It leaves you hanging and excited every time.
The characters aren't all bad. There isn't a single character who you would dislike. Even the villains, they're likable as well. Rai is so cute, every drawing of him really portrayed his expressions especially if he becomes ignorant on something.
The fighting scenes are the best. Every fight scenes are exciting. Their soul weapons are awesome it makes me think I wanna have one as well :)
The art is great. Two thumbs up.
Over all: this is just an amazing manhwa. After I have read this, I've been reading a lot of manhwas already :))
