Despite others saying that Drifters is overrated and is given to much praise, it still doesn’t change the fact that it easily caught a lot of attention, deriving popularity, and put off a show that greatly satisfies the audience. To be honest, I find the show to be quite a long shot from being a masterpiece but it sure was entertaining in a higher level, and that alone could prove that it deserves what it has now.
Let’s start with the story. One of the strength of this anime is its interesting background which, aside from using historical facts, combines a very dark theme with concepts
...
of fantasy that stirs up the viewers’ interest. Simply put, the plot is intriguing enough to make someone stick throughout the entire series without a thought of dropping it or even finding it to be boring. On the other hand, I have to point out that despite the eye candy story it is, it actually lacks depth. The show doesn’t really provide too much thought provoking ideas and concepts – it is just entertaining.
The characters, well, are not something to invest on, not yet. Yes, some of the characters have qualities that well suit the whole concept but somehow, almost all of them are flat characters – lacking depth and not entirely close to real. Their personalities and characteristics are greatly limited to their role – which is to fight. There isn’t much development that happened between the characters throughout the show and there isn’t much background either. Adding to that, the characters were only supporting objects to move the story.
By this point you may have already thought that Drifters was really that bad and only led to a letdown, but that’s not the case at all. Art. Drifter’s art style is equally the strongest point of this show with its entertainment/enjoyment factor. Even a single glimpse of the show is more than enough to lure you into it. If the story itself is already dark, then it’s not even half of art’s portrayal from the slightest shade of a shadow to the curvature of every evil grin. Of all other anime, the Drifters may have the most accurate embodiment of the story with its visual – if not too much. In terms of the music, I couldn’t say less that it improves the vibe of the show and very well complements with the other elements.
And now the enjoyment. This is by the most redeeming quality of the show that made it stand out – of course, with the support of the previous elements discussed. Action, action, and more action, that’s basically the surface of this anime but it’s more to it than that. The events of the show is made brilliantly as it does not only give the audience something to decide whether they like it or not but something they will eventually like. That being said, most of the action sequence were made to address a person’s best kept personality or behavior and the anime recognizes them very well. What does that supposed to mean? Well you may notice that a variety of immorality is shown, namely violence, lust, greed and others – but that’s only one way to look at it. The action sequence is also recognizably exemplar with the way everything moves from the inanimate objects to the characters.
With everything at hand, I have concluded that this anime is not overrated at all and despite its flaws, it still has something to offer and is definitely worthwhile watching. Regardless, more is expected of the show in its upcoming sequel and hopefully this time, it will carefully divert its attention to working on the characters.

If it’s only enjoyment that you are after, then Magi: The Kingdom of Magic may suit your taste and entertain you well but if you are looking for an anime that has depth, then this may not be the closest one. Whether which is which, don’t get your expectations too high!
The story was interesting but there were major flaws such a lack of consistency and coherence. For one, a lot of information were unconcluded and simply left behind without explanations. For example, as from the title says, a magi is gifted magician who is tasked to choose a king candidate. Magis were mentioned frequently but
...
they weren’t given a particular depth of information or significance just like how one of the few magis barely did anything despite appearing the last few episodes of the show. Their importance was then very questionable. Second, the direction of the story is, least to say, inconsistent. The arcs, over time, tend be more unrelated and separate from the story. At one point, I was thinking as to where the story is really going to – the concept isn’t misleading, the delivery is.
Having a vast roster of characters with diverse personalities, perhaps abilities in this anime, could easily pique an audience’ interest. But while it raises expectations for viewers, failing to satisfy or reach the viewers’ demands could cost a reputable damage. While watching Magi, I constantly remember Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood as it reminded me of how many characters were introduced throughout its run but after finishing Magi: The Kingdom of Magic, I was able to tell the difference wherein FMAB succeeded and Magi failed. To make it clearer, several characters lacked background and significant role that it made them seem as mere decorations to make the show more appealing. Just when I thought a character is going to play a big role in the story after stepping into the light, the show drifts away from that character and wanders off to another focus. Other than that, the development of the three main characters were great but for the others, it just wasn’t that good.
When it comes to the production, I couldn’t really tell anything wrong about it as the animation was great and the music even better. The soundtrack is what I found to stand out the most for its variety of tones suited perfectly for each mood and situation. I still think that the show is fun and highly entertaining despite of all its strengths and weaknesses. I myself wouldn’t watch an anime just to write reviews about them – enjoyment comes first!
With this, I would say Magi: The Kingdom of Magic is an average of its type. Although there can be flaws that are not noticeably erroneous but rather bothersome, you can still look away from them and enjoy the show because after all, the fun factor is this anime’s lead.

Just when I thought fantasy animes couldn’t come up with an original story, I was mistaken. I started this series without any expectations but somehow, I already had the idea that I won’t be taken by surprise. Apparently, Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi isn’t one to play things like others do and I believe it deserves a better reception than it has.
It may not seem like it from the surface, but the story is quite deep to a certain level. Not only is it complex, but it did as much as to influence my perspective in life. Simply said, the story is rich in ideas and
...
philosophies. The progression is flawless considering that three unique plots transitioned smoothly between each other for a length of twelve episodes. Events happened in a quick pace and some minor details that would have otherwise clarified everything else were skipped but they’re not necessarily rushed. I was also amazed by how each arc presented a totally new story without compromising the delivery. In addition, nothing is uninteresting and unengaging.
On the other hand, the characters were very likeable despite how I found them to be nearly common as to the rest. Nevertheless, in a short span of time, I became fond of the main character’s qualities of kindness, innocence, and courage. The other supporting characters felt close too. It was also surprising how a lot of characters played important roles and greatly contributed to the development of the series.
Not only was the story made well but as well as the overall art. The visuals consisted of stunning sceneries that is shown even from the very first episode. The music used were perfect and did well to amplify the emotions intended. The ending theme was my favorite and I love how it starts to play at the last scenes of the episode before entering the credits.
To sum up, everything from the anime is enjoyable – the story, mystery, conclusions, music, art and appealing characters. The only problem I found with the anime is that I wasn’t fully satisfied with all of it that I’m wanting for more because unfortunately, the anime is too short. It’s a good thing that even though I only enjoyed it for a short while, it’s still a memorable one. Whenever you decide that you to experience the entertainment of fantasy as if it was your first time, then give Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi a try!

No. 6 may be overlooked but after getting a glimpse of its world, you can say it’s worth your time.
I can’t say the story is unique but it is well written and delivered that the flow is, without a doubt, fluid. The manga has its share of gore, thrill, and sometimes humor and every mood was well-balanced to the convenience of its reader. The only problem is that the plot isn’t shown in a particular light whereas it appears mysterious or suspenseful. You may be thinking, ‘does that mean I can easily tell what’s going to happen next?’ and, somehow, yes but not exactly.
...
You may be able to guess a portion of it but No. 6 has its own way of telling the story. Simply put, the story was very good!
Shion and Nezumi, being the main characters, were amazingly portrayed. For some reason, the personalities of these characters didn’t appear to be clichéd. The track of development of the characters weren’t predictable and you can easily have second thoughts from time to time. Shion and Nezumi developed in a good way that I found their actions and thoughts based on their experiences were convincing and even natural.
However, I wasn’t able to feel a strong connection with the characters because there were still gaps in between – there wasn’t enough depth in their personalities. To point out, it looked like the story didn’t really have a main antagonist that stand out among the challenges faced by our main cast.
I have to commend the artists for their brilliant work with the illustrations! The graphics seemed sharp and detailed, not to mention it looks very clean even with all the action going on. The frequent and well placed appearances of artistic touches such as unique speech balloons, expressions and emphasizers were all appealing but most importantly, the totality of the art did really good in extending the story – giving us a better perspective of it.
Being the first manga I’ve completed, I am very satisfied that I chose a good one. I enjoyed all the thrills the manga had to offer that I wasn’t expecting to find myself unaware of my surroundings for moments – seriously, it wasn’t likely for me to lose focus that the person beside me had already called my name three times (two would have been acceptable). In the end, No.6 isn’t one of your mangas worth missing!

Log Horizon may be your ordinary action-adventure-fantasy series but it is not necessarily to say that it has nothing more to offer than temporary entertainment for it may as well captivate your heart with its light atmosphere, exciting and thrilling adventures. As it may have minor flaws, these didn’t stop it from standing out among its genre-related competitors such as Sword Art Online, Overlord, or even DanMachi.
Cutting through the background and synopsis...
Storywise, the plot is
...
cohesive enough and relatively easy to follow through without it being predictable and boring. The initial flow of the story was rather slow for its genre, adventure, as it focused more on setting the foundation (you may not find yourself fired up during these parts). There are times it gets carried away to the point that a few episodes become non-essential or even uninteresting – with regards to the plot.
Nevertheless, the story is quite consistent in delivery throughout and it shares some good plot twists from time to time, not to mention those crucial episodes. Not forget, the show has a good balance of comedy, action, a little drama… and romance so you won’t be getting tired of the similar content.
The series presented a lot of characters, however, the purpose of presenting a lot of personalities is to keep things interesting by capturing and holding the attention of the audience in hopes that they find one of their liking and Log Horizon didn’t do too well on that challenge. As the story progresses, a majority of the characters didn’t show enough character development through overcoming internal and external challenges thus not establishing a deep connection with the audience – think of Edward Elric or Alibaba Saluja.
Taking the main character as an example: Shiroe (voiced by Terashima, Takuma) is not your casual gamer who was coincidentally trapped in the virtual game by luck instead is an active and skilled player most likely to be there. As expected, Shiroe would not be having difficulties in playing, or living, through the game as he is experienced but considering the idea that being trapped in a virtual world despite the first main problem in the story being the life inside the game with danger being real – not only from the monsters but even fellow players. Even though the main protagonist didn’t share his troubles, he did portray leadership and camaraderie.
Speaking of, the connections between characters were established very well, most specially in terms of good relations making it possible for the anime to create a convincing light atmosphere which is the main reason I like it and the same reason I find it to stand out.
I enjoyed watching the show particularly the silly moments, suspenseful reveals, surprisingly good tactics/strategies, music and most of all, character relationships and interactions.
So if you are a huge fan of adventure, be sure not to miss out on Log Horizon and in case you are worried that it might turn out to be generic for your taste, Log Horizon has its own flavor added to the genre – it’s one of those journeys you won’t be likely forget.
