These two shows are like sisters. While Idols and Maid Cafes might not seem similar, they are in practice, and the execution of each show is similarly intriguing, avoiding being a generic slice of life and really digging into the dark rotten underbelly of the industries they're about.

Oh baby that's the good stuff. 80s shlock at it's finest but with a new coat of paint. I can't possibly see why you wouldn't watch both of these shows right now unless you're too young to enjoy something that's completely stupid and insane.

Both are smaller budget, short one episode OVAS by amateur or newer staff, featuring over the top action, highly stylish visuals and a very strong sense of passion behind their project. If you're someone who finds a lot of big budget anime rather stale these days, check out these passion projects, at a half hour each the time commitment is quite low, so you don't really have anything to lose trying either of them out.

While there's not that many surface similarities between these two titles, I'm here today to bring you the most rare of mal recommendations, one that connects things together by actual enjoyment of the work and not because they both have redhead protagonists or something else pointless. These are two of the best modern Shoujo manga I've read, and the refreshing nature of the stories not being just the same "stupid girl falls for bad boy who verbally abuses her but he's actually really nice guys" can be felt in both manga, you can feel it in the difference between the male leads and the protagonists themselves, who remind me a lot of each other in how brash they are compared to most shoujo romance with their more demure leads. If you enjoyed one of these, it seems very possible you would enjoy the other, I certainly did.

Two shows for fans of big, honking, sugoi dekai... robots. Hot blooded manly mecha action with big robots, shouting finishing moves, and girls with absurd, uhh, personalities... These two anime are brothers in spirit, and I can't see why a fan of one wouldn't enjoy the other.

Seikima II Humane Society: Jinrui Ai ni Michita Shakai

These OVAs are both centered around glam metal bands that look like KISS knockoffs. In the case of DMC it's a parody focusing on a fictional band, while Seikima II is based off of a real Japanese band and is about their fictional backstory as demons. They're both hilarious, but I'm not entirely sure if Seikima was meant to be a comedy.

Drills are a man's... A Magical Girl's... soul! The saikyou no weapon, undefeated in both it's manliness and it's cuteness! Spinning across time and space, unknown to demographics, the drill appeals to men, women, and children of all genders, races, and species. For the ultimate form of evolution, the ideal body that is humanity is the result of our nature as Spiral Beings. The appeal of drills is embedded within our very DNA, so we can't help but fall to the allure of drills.

TANK S.W.A.T 01 and Kemono friends are basically the same anime. Dystopian futures full of girls with cat ears and ruined buildings, as well as a bold use of full cgi instead of old traditional animation. You'll laugh, you'll cry, I was moved to tears by both of these anime and you will be too.

In the grim darkness of the worst timeline, there is only wasted potential. Two series, cut short before they ever had a chance to get going. Excitement, action, girls kicking the crap out of people with their martial arts skills! Watch both and cry about how there isn't a full season of either of these.

Skull Man

Hey you, yes you, do you like action? Do you like Japanese style Henshin heroes such as Super Sentai or Kamen Rider? That my friends is what these two shows have in common. What they don't share however, is tone. Sadamitsu the Destroyer is a lighthearted, almost parody of Tokusatsu style shows, while Skull Man is a serious, dark take on similar concepts. Additionally, Skull Man came out six years later then Sadamitsu and was animated by studio Bones and not studio Deen, meaning it has far, far better animation. But, if you enjoyed one, or tokusatsu shows in general (which is probably why you ended up here in the first place) you'll most likely enjoy the other so long as you go in with the right expectations.
