For this being an infamous anime, its hard to explain why I oddly enjoyed this show so much (although it contradicts with my score, this is one of my favorites)
I try to make my reviews the middle ground of haters and lovers of animes so people in the mutual get the straight facts. so lets start:
•First off, the story itself was unique for what it offered to the viewer I'll leave it at that because it would ruin the fun if I was to start explaining things to you.
•The animation was quite weak, I felt like that factor didn't help the seriousness of the show
...
at all, almost ruined it.
• OST is great, like NGE, its the calm before the storm
• God... This show is bloody, full of gore, and hits the target on cruelty. But I have to say it was a strange plus for the show becuase it was quite bold to bring up some of those major taboos (you'll know what I mean). When there isnt people being torn into peices, the fan service, for those that enjoy it, is everywhere. But I found it to be a sloppy mix with the gore, etc.
• I believe this show is better with your brain turned off, what I mean by that is you should just role with the punches and go with the flow. Don't prepare for a deep plunder into the mysterys of life. Enjoy what you have been given. Etc. But!!!!! Expect some hardcore feels becuase there is still drama, I was almost moved to tears at the last episode.
• the characters could have been better scripted, that's my only big no-no. Watch the Sub. The Dub voices sound like nails on a chalk board... Through a microphone... With the volume very loud.
Overall, this show is a rollercoaster for it being only 13 episodes long. I'd recommend it to those with a strong stomach and have a more mature stance on what they watch.

So I've seen alot of controversy over this show, and although both side (hate it\ love it) have good points, I hope this is middle ground for people.
I enjoyed the show overall. If you've come to watch something deep and meaningful, don't push it. Because in the grand scheme of things what show really is?
It does express the thoughts on what makes something a human, which isn't going to be life shattering (although I do look at my dogs in a different perspective now) but it does put a few thoughts in your head. That's all.
I enjoyed the story for what it was, (insert
...
anime description here). It's a great thriller, has good comedy, excellent romance (the good kind of romance, one that doesn't invade the story), the gore (yeeeeah!!), and it was hard for me not to stop watching. (On that note, the beginning is a bit slow, but we all know shows can start out that way)
It has a feeling to it as Death Note. Why? Let me explain
Like learning about the Death Note, you get to immurse yourself in figuring out how and why these "Parasytes" work and behave like they do which ultimately gives the story more consistency, something I am fond to.
The music, probably one of the best parts (for me)
The animation was finominal, nuf said about that..
The characters were actually quite decent, no one was too whinny, and no one was too extreme. And the character development was good shizz.
And prepare for cliff hangers or really messed up things, for I was about to start tossing crap out of my window because of the last episode.
Thanks for reading, got any comments or anything to add, I'd love to hear your opinion.

Don't hesitate. Read it.
If you loved the anime, this will be great
If you hated the anime, this is redemption
Well...
If you havent watched the anime, Watch the anime first, the series, and then come back.
Although it's my personal opinion, this is much better than the anime. It's cleaned up, brings all of the characters together in a good manner, and the character development is much more enjoyable.
...
The psychological scenes have more meaning and aren't thousands of random pictures and images being thrown into your face
I haven't read a lot of mangas, but I couldn't stop reading this. It's funny, has lots of emotions, and brings to the table everything I love about NGE, and even more.
A nice change is that Shinji isn't such a whiner. He's more rebellious than anything, yet maintains his identity. (Thank the Gods)
It sticks more to the Series than anything, yet it takes its own path which was incredible. It also has a smooth transition to now-a-days Rebuild Movies. Which gives it a oh hot diggity dayum moment in the final chapters
It definitely goes into more detail about characters that were never truly explained
Example:
Kaji's past
Yui's past
Gendo's past
And even dives deeper into Asuka's past
Well, just about everyone's...
(And clears up a lot of what was not explained in the Series)
And Rei talks, and theirs romance, and feels, and ugh!! It's great!!

Neon Genesis Evangelion...
Enough said, right?
But no, this show is unlike any other. I can only give it such a high rating because its has captured my attention unlike any other show I've seen. The raw originality of this anime has never been reproduced, and most likely never will. It can be seen as a cliche mecha, but by giving it a chance, anyone can see it is much more than such a despised genre.
It has its humorous,ya know "haha" moments, but it tends to stick to its depressing, omnious theme.
You'll enjoy this if you like:
Giant things fighting other giant things
Mind melting psychological
...
scenes and ideas
Peicing together a well thought out and unique plot and
Symbology
I hope you read more than one review to decide your interest in this show, and on that note, I don't want to repeat what others have said before.
Having rewatched it four times, (yes four, and yes... I know), my biggest advice to anyone that has or hasn't watched it is this:
Notice the small things, listen to the small talk, observe anything out of the ordinary
It will help you understand the show and make it that much more enjoyable for you (so you don't have to watch it repeatedly like me to get what the french toast is going on, or lose interest in what I believe is a masterpiece of a show)
PS the last two episodes of the show are a bit estranged. My opinion is to go ahead and watch them for the character "confrontment" (I believe that could make sense), but take it with a grain of salt. And move on to End of Evangelion, which will be the grand finale for you.
I'm sorry this review was scattered, for it was my first, but thank you for your interest in my opinion
