These shows both take part in the almost "infamous" yandere genre where a beautiful pink haired chick obsessively falls for our poor, pathetic, naive main character. Both girls were horrifically abused as children and are violent killers, and have personality disorders (must I say more?), etc. If you get off with murder, or rape, decapitation, gore, cruelty, abuse, and other twisted unspeakable, you'll definitely love both then.

Evangelion Movie 1: Jo

Both of these are the beginning film of the condensed version of the original series (keep in mind that that doesn't mean that its a recap like Evangelion: Death and Rebirth. You can still watch these with the confidence of having the original integrity of the story). Both are famous for not only its impact on mecha, but for anime in general. Although Evangelion (especially since 1.0 is a revamp) has better animation and is known to have a darker atmosphere, MSG is well respected for its great character development and plot.

Each MC (I'm going to go with Spike and Satiama) are both laid-back and nonchalant Villans can be quite ridiculous and outrageous, which I find to be a nice plus The series themselves are episodic, but are excellent comedies

Both of these shows are excellent psychological animes. The mechas in both are insanely epic. One other similarity I found is that both have the monumental choice of accepting or rejecting God

The extreme clever and intelligence of the main characters gets you to both root for them and feel their emotions. With their clever plots, its impossible to like one and not the other. Code Geass has much more action while death note is pure wit (which is excellent) And if you haven't watch either of them, tell me, what have you been doing all this time?
