Harem Anime are typically something to not take seriously, Girlfriend Girlfriend is no exception.
There are those who dive deep in the world of harms and absolutely love plot less rom coms. Then there are those who believe that in order for an Anime to be good it needs to be as sophisticated as HXH or FMAB. I don't believe that a plot is what matters for a story to be enjoyable, characters are paramount to writing a story people will like. GF GF is one of those anime that doesn't take itself seriously which is something I can respect. However I am going to
...
break this review into 5 Categories: Story, Production, Characters, Enjoyment, & My overall feelings
Story: 6/10
A highschool boy doesn't want to choose between two girls, why not date both? It makes sense to look at this plot and be disgusted by the idea but with the way the show handles it, it does a fairly good job. I loved Rent-a-Girlfriend so going into this anime I had a feeling of what to expect and that's exactly what I got from start to finish. These harem plots are not my cup of tea for the most part so this section and most of them (with the exception of one category) are subjective to me.
Production: 3/10
This is by far the worst aspect of the Anime. The animation in this show it dirt poor, they rely way too heavily on zoom ups and still frames and you can really tell how rough the animation is here. The art seems decent however the lining and the filter they seem to add makes the anime look a bit ugly. This isn't meant to disrespect the animators, I am well aware they worked their best here. It's just that the end product looks very low budget. The Opening, despite having limited animation, was actually quite creative with it's direction. Overall, this is the most objective category here and I wish the Art & Animation looked a bit better.
Characters: 4/10
Stories with a little to no plot must need interesting and enjoyable characters to watch, they are the face of the series. Upon my time watching anime I learned that (as stated before) Plot is second to characters. That's why you have terrible anime such as sword art online in which has a fantastic plot, Lucky star: a show that has no plot but has great characters which makes it enjoyable, and anime like attack on titan which can accomplish both at once. GF GF attempts to go the comedy approach with a light plot but the issue here is that the characters lack enjoyment. The biggest victim here is definitely Naoya. This man is a menace to society looking at the stuff he's done on screen. He is the most Shounen esk protag in any rom com I have ever seen. "The man that never gives up" "the man that is oblivious to common sense" "the man that has a very select few of emotions". You watch him on screen and just cringe about every decision he makes. The other female characters are boring. Saki is annoying for most of the season, Minase is a bit too boring until the last episode, Rika's goals make no sense considering how popular she is on social media, and we really didn't see much of Shino yet. The characters are boring.
Enjoyment: 3/10
Honestly, If I had to watch the entire season back to back I don't think i'd finish it. Watching this anime felt like a chore. The comedy was too generic and like everything we have seen in a romcom like this before. Rent a Girlfriend was sort of the same way however in that anime, it looked beautiful and I don't hate Kazuya (HOT TAKE). I'm not here to look for a FMAB type story, I love anime that are light; however this anime did not capture my interest.
I recommend this anime if:
- You Love Harems
- Love Highschool settings
- Love searching for new waifus
- You are looking for time to burn
I DO NOT recommend this anime if:
- You are someone who hates harems
- Hates stupid MC's
- Wants a plot heavy story
- You get bored easily
Might be a hot take for some. If you enjoyed GF GF that's awesome, enjoy the anime you like. For me, this show wasted my time and I am most likely not waiting to watch season 2 if it happens to be released. Thank You for reading my review, I greatly appreciate it!

“Your drill is the drill that will pierce the Heavens!” - Kamina
I would be lying to myself if I said Gurren Lagann wasn't one of, if not THE Best Mech Anime to ever exist. My favorite thing about this anime is how original and stylistic it is. A story in which all humans (referred to as spirals later on), are burried underground and by the end, fight in the depths of space. This is a story that knows what it is and isn't afraid to dig deeper (no pun intended) into the philosophy of human psychology in spite of how mindless it can be. In
...
this review I will be going over the story, the art, the sound, characters, and my overall enjoyment. So lets begin
[SPOILER FREE REVIEW]
Story: 8/10
Like I said before, Gurren Lagann is a show that defies logic, if you keep overthinking everything of what happens, you're not going to enjoy it as much. From Episode 1 this show has a clear base on what it wants to do. It wants to send a powerful message to the audience in the most badass way. Perseverance, and the drive to keep going even at impossible odds. Its best to analyze this show and criticize it after watch, the ideal experience for you as the viewer is to turn your brain off and have a fun time watching robots beat the shit out of each other with some great Animation and Soundtrack. Im keeping this section brief because I don't want to get into spoilery territory.
Art: 8/10
Before we talk about the good, lets get the not so good over with. Episode 4 was a complete mess in terms of art. I have no idea what happened at the studio making this show, but it was abysmal and im glad it doesn't happen again after that. Now that's out of the way, lets get on to what I loved. I was very close to giving the art a 10 just for the eyecatchers alone, they are super cool and very stylish. Gurren Lagann in terms of its animation is absolutely nuts, this is a mech anime with barely any CGI present, that's insane! You can tell they tried their best with what they were able to work with. In terms of the art by itself, its super unique and makes it stand out from other anime, with the exception of Kill la Kill (Also a great show produced by the same crew). Its also very western friendly for an anime, I can see non anime fans giving this a watch and being pleased with its aesthetic. If episode 4 didnt look appalling i would have given this a 9
Sound: 9/10
Im a huge fan of Linkin Park and when hearing the OST "Nikopol" (Virals Theme) for the first time, I couldn't help but think of Points of Authority. The soundtrack is also something that shows off its style and uniqueness pretty well. Dont even get me started with the whole "do the impossible, row row fight the power" shtick, that was just so badass. I might be a minority because I watched this dubbed, but for a dub its acting is pretty damn good I would say. I really like the persons voice for Kamina, such a good choice there. Overall sound gets a 9/10 for me.
Characters: 7/10
The biggest problem with Gurren Lagann is its bloated cast of useless characters. This show sort of has the same problem as the Dragon Ball franchise did with having a wide range of useless characters. There was this one character in particular I did not like, I think it was the dude who just kept wanting to fire the missiles? He annoyed me very quickly. And some other characters were just pointless and forgettable. But the main cast I thought was very well (which is what really matters). I love what the show does with Simon and Kamina, thats a cool combo. And as for Yoko, what else can I say other than shes a baddie with a sniper rifle? The characters they choose to focus on are great, I really like what they do with Rossiu later on in the show (Voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch btw), great choices of character development, its noticed and its not forced really, it feels right. Viral as the anti-hero character is super enjoyable, I loved it when he was on screen. My favorite character is definitely Kamina, his charisma and attitude is the embodiment of what Gurren Lagann is. Love the main cast, other characters, not so much.
Enjoyment: 9/10
This shows a blast from start to finish, I was able to finish it fairly quickly because the show was so fast paced and hyped. Watching the fights, and all was just so much fun. Gurren Lagann works as a show that tells a good story and is enjoyable at the same time!
Overall: 8/10
Gurren Lagann is an amazing anime with so much to offer, ranging from its style to its incredible animation. I love it, and I want every anime fan to watch this, you wont regret it!
Anyways, thanks for reading this review! I hope this helped you with what you're looking for :))

This a critic that just finished the show roughly five minutes ago, I believe that I am calm and collected to write a review of this Anime
Angel Beats! Is a beautiful and well made anime from the studio P.A Works. As popular as the show is, I can understand why, it is a good show, but I dont believe its legendary or anything
Before I get into the numbers, I believe the biggest issue with this show is that it simply isnt as long as it should be. I believe that 13 episodes isn't enough to cover this story successfully. For the kind of story it
...
is (Shonen/Isekai esk), It should have been 25 episodes.
Story 7/0
The premise of Angel Beats! is quite confusing at first, I was having a hard time understanding what the story was really about, I have watched other Anime in the past, I would have to say that this is one of the more complicated ones I have seen. Once I understood, I began to like it. I like the idea of an afterlife that only brings people who have a tragic past, very interesting concept that can be very versatile, how does the story handle its premise? ehhh Okay
There were some episodes that felt like a waste of time, especially for how short it is, some things began to drag on until the very end, then it was too fast for me to catch up. If you are new to Anime then this could easily throw you off. Pacing could be better, the premise is confusing but very intriguing and makes you think about philosophy in terms of the meaning of ones life and just the afterlife in general. So Ill give it a 7
Sound, Animation, & Production 9/10
There is no doubt that this is a beautiful looking Anime. The opening caught me off guard as it was astonishing. Animation for the most part was very consistent, I dont think there was ever a time where i felt as if the character were off model, very well made by the animation studio, thank you.
I watched this anime dubbed (not bash me on watching dubs please) So I may bring something new to the table in terms of audio. The dubbers did a fairly good job with the voices, I didnt see anything too bad about it, I mean it could have been better, but audio isnt my specialty so im gonna leave that here. Read other reviews if you are worried about sound.
The Characters: 6/10
I Said it before and ill say it again, theres only so much you can do with 13 episodes. Otanashi as a character grows throughout the series like some of the others (key word: some), his character arc is interesting, I think he definitely has the best moments in the show, I originally didnt like him all that much but he grew on me for sure. Yuri is really cool, I like how she is a strong female lead. I always got invested in the show when she came up on screen. Hinata was surprisingly my favorite character, he is just absolutely hilarious and I love his bond with Yui, so funny and adorable at the same time. Angel is also develops but I want you guys to see that for yourselves if you go watch. Aaand thats really about it, everybody else aside from Naoi just stays the same, or just stands on the sidelines of the "side" character syndrome. There are too many characters here for a 13 episode Anime, alot of them are really useless. I cant really blame the Anime since the show is just too short to develop that many characters in one season. The ones that decide to work on though work well. So 6/10
Ending: 7/10
The Ending is a make or break for any person watching any form of story. Angel Beats! is well known for having a good or sad ending. I think the ending was good but it could have been way better. I may get into some spoiler territory so skip this section if you dont want to get spoiled.
[SPOILER WARNING]
Otanashi and Angel end up falling in love at the end. I am guilty for saying that I LOVE Melodrama. it feels so good to cry when something good happens in a show, but the Anime didnt set up Angel and Otanashi well enough as I hoped they would. It was kind of wishy washy as to what their thoughts were on eachother until the end. It was expected but they didnt give us time to invest in their romance. I would have liked to see more of that and make it more emphasized, but again cant blame them for only having 13 episodes to work with. The overall ending I thought was heartwarming, the graduation ceremony was beautiful, I absolutely adored how small of cast it was, how it was only 5 of them ,and they were acting a real ceremony, it was amazing, I loved it. However, it didnt save the end with Otanshi and Angel ill give it a 7/10.
[END OF SPOILER]
Overall: 7/10
If you are binging multiple Anime at once, I seriously recommend that you watch this one, it s only 13 episodes. If you enjoy an Anime with some fighting, Music, and High School setting, Angel Beats! is right up your ally. However if you are wanting a deep show that primarily focuses on understanding its fundamentals in a philosophical manner, then this Anime may not cure that Itch.
Overall, Angel Beats! is a good anime, I enjoyed it. However If it were 25 episodes instead of 13 then I believe that it would have been a much greater Anime. Thank you for reading.

As of typing this, I am currently on Chapter 288 in the War Arc
Horiksohi started this Manga as a fun idea that spiraled out of control due to the popularity, I can see why.
My Hero Academia is a series that takes ist time to develop, you can see this as a good or bad thing, in the end I believe its a great thing. If you dont look at the big picture and analyze in terms of stroywriting then you will miss out on a lot here. The story starts off rather basic with a strong premise regarding the world in which they live
...
in. It starts off 2 dimensional and goes full on in depth. Characters have their own arcs dedicated to them that make you root for them unsuspectingly, as well as the execution of what happens is just amazing.
In terms of Art, nobody in the Shounen Jump Industry is better than Horikoshi, Yuske Marata is close but Horikoshis style is so unique and outstanding, his coloring is so different from normal Mangaka. I love it
Main character is Izuku Midoryia, a boy born in a world of powers without any of his own, this has been done before but the series gives this a twist. Instead of Izuku (Ill be calling him Deku from now on) being a determine, strong, and confident boy; he starts off as shy, quiet, and timid. People can easily fall into the "Deku is a crybaby" argument and drop the series because they dont want to understand the message here . The message here is that even if you are a weak, scrawny, and unconfident person, you can still be a hero which is shown in Episode 2 of the anime and chapter 2 of the manga. Dekus character is about development, just like the series itself, its not about Deku climbing the hero rankings as much as Deku improving as a character, to become a confident, and strong willed young man.
Look, I can talk about this series all day, people overhype it for the wrong reasons, its story is overlooked by many and the popularity can make people more prone to criticizing it harshly, MHA is one of the best Shounen anime to ever come out in Shounen Jump and I cant wait to see how this series ends because i consider it a true masterpiece
