This is just the bomb. It is an awesome explosive bombastic in your face flashy action when you want it to be, but also a deeper story with complex characters and unexpected twists as well. The short length of the series really subverts the weak and pathetic main character trope, as Simon shapes up pretty quick, and its realistic to see things that would affect him versus things that shouldn't. The soundtrack is unexpectedly a banger and will definitely have you nodding your head to the mix of orchestra, hip hop and electronic. The last 10 episodes are some of the most fantastical and hype
...
action anime TV episodes I've ever seen. Overall, Gurren Lagann features a ridiculously hype action experience, deep and complex characters, a mysterious and ever expanding story, and an amazing OST all for a mindblowing experience in 26 episodes. If you are a fan of Dragon Ball Z, this show will be right up your alley. As a person who strongly dislikes the mecha genre, Gurren Lagann shattered all my perceptions of mecha and earned its place as a solid 10 in every category.

The second season of the third part of JoJo picks up on the end of the high priestess arc and concludes the original Dio saga. Overall, while linear and predictable it has a much more serious atmosphere and more intense chaotic action.
Story 7/10 - The story is predictable but easy to understand and interesting enough
Art - 9/10 The art is incredibly detailed, every character is drawn intricately. Compared to the manga, the JoJo anime nails the art perfectly.
Sound 9/10 - The stand sound effects and general sound effects for action are top notch. Every impact sounds like it actually hits something
Overall 8/10. This part doesn't
...
have the bizarre, unpredictable chaos of season 1, nor does it have the nonstop hype train and killer OST of part 5, but it's a bizarre, exciting conclusion to the third installment in JoJo. It's not a masterpiece, but it's solid entertainment with some wacky vibes.

Great story that was packed into 50 pages. Unlike most painfully exaggerated main characters, Yamada is astonishingly normal and relatable. He isn't a superhero with unlimited courage and strength, nor is he a perverted sexually deviant social outcast like many "self-insert" characters are. He is a normal guy, with flaws, that wishes to have a normal life but is bored and tired of every day monotony. He is fed up with study and work which many of us can relate to. While unpopular and not wildly successful at school, he is a normal guy, he has friends, he eats, he sleeps, he acts like a
...
real person, making the comic feel alive.
Ohba's skill in writing corruption due to new powers definitely shows in this story. Yamada changes realistically, but horrifyingly over time as he uses his new power. I was captivated as I flipped the pages, seeing how he progressed.
Overall, this is a really interesting story with a realistic and likeable MC. With only 50 pages it is definitely worth your time to read.

If you're looking for a story that's deep, realistic and profound... look elsewhere. But if you want something exciting, nonsensical and horrific, Mirai Nikki is just down your alley.
For a shonen, there is a LOT of gore and violence. This is basically a slasher gore horror with lots of sexual content. I honestly have no idea how this is in a shonen magazine. That said, it is GOOD at what it does. The gore is horrific and exciting like a horror should be. It gives the whole thing kind of a dark vibe that really meshes well with the action.
The story is pretty linear. Once
...
you watch the first 4 episodes you can kind of tell where it goes. The end however gets very unexpected so I will give it points for that.
Art and Sound design are way ahead of their time. For a 2011 show it looks similar to something made in 2021. The lines are sharp, it looks HD, the animation is fluid and the sounds are crisp. Doesn't feel dated at all.
Character is 10/10. Some of the most hilarious, infuriating, and horrifying characters are in this show. You might like it, you might not, but the characters will make you feel something. Either something good or bad.
Enjoyment 9/10. This is not a deep show, nor is it trying to be. It is intense, unrealistic nonsensical horror gory action that puts the wow factor first and story second. If you want entertainment, this show will entertain you.
Overall 9/10 very horrifying, exciting and weird, I was not bored for a single episode

I haven't played the game before watching this show, so take this review into account.
Danganronpa the animation was quirky, fun but also exciting and overall had a cool game show vibe that was also serious. The animation was super clean and sharp for being an 8 year old show.
The story was excellent, and was definitely unpredictable. I went in with no spoilers and was pleasantly surprised at how unexpected the story was. The premise looks very linear but many layers are revealed and the end was nothing like I expected.
The Art wasn't mind-blowingly detailed or beautiful, but it did the job. Every character
...
looked good, sharp and easily distinguishable. Overall, it wasn't outstanding but it was easy on the eyes and definitely had its own charm.
The sound design wasn't phenomenal either, but the voice acting was excellent. Each character fell into their own stereotype, which was pretty exaggerated. The voice acting helped a lot with this, each character was easily distinguished by their voice. The dub especially was just full of character in every voice.
Overall, Danganronpa is not a masterpiece or generation defining show. But it IS quirky, fun, mysterious and exciting. I enjoyed all 13 episodes and was on the edge of my seat wondering who was the culprit. I would recommend this show to anyone as it is both fun and exciting.

Code Geass was decently entertaining, well written, and had good animation, but overall failed to excite. The OST had some great tracks that were just underused. The biggest flaw I saw, was the handling of Lelouch's intelligence. I've often seen Lelouch be compared to Light Yagami, as if they are the same character. This isn't the case at all, Light is an egotistical maniac genius with a god-complex, Lelouch seems much more like a regular guy with a family to protect and his own dreams, goals and desires, as well as being much more humble.
The main gripe I had with the show was it
...
never really had any "mind games" per say. Unlike Death Note, which this show is often compared to, which had many instances of inductive reasoning, process of elimination, setting up traps, and other psychological tricks, Geass had none of these. Most of the encounters were not won with intelligence but just "oh, my robot is stronger than yours. we win". Every time something smart DOES happen, it's an asspull that is usually incredibly simple to explain, like "oh I set up mines under the enemy beforehand" or "we flanked them so we win". What was front and center in Geass was just regular combat, not that "big brain moment" I was expecting.
Everything else was satisfactory however. The animation looks good especially considering this show's age. The story does a great job making a whole fictional world under the Britannian empire. And the characters while usually one-dimensional are fun to watch. The show is very sexual with lots of nudity and sexual positions so make of that what you will.

An old series that definitely shows it's age, but is wacky, exciting and just overall entertaining. The 1st part of JoJo, has many interesting elements of a gothic horror story, which serves as a serious contrast to the wacky and bizarre second season. The animation is top tier in the first season, with some killer CGI OPs. Gotta mention the OPs, they are some of the best in anime, each one of them has epic energy and theme. The characters are also ridiculous, in a way that's presented as entertaining and absurd. Nobody acts like this, sure, but that's part of the charm. Von Stroheim's
...
terribly fake accent or the flamboyant feminine sparkle of Kars in contrast to his super manly appearance add to the hilariousness of the whole show. Overall, the show is serious but bizarre, sometimes lacking in depth, but always entertaining. 9/10

Sweetness and Lightning is a good show that is moderately wholesome, but lacking in story. Overall, it is good for watching after a long day as it isn't too stressful or suspenseful, just simple daily interaction
Story 5/10 - Nothing special, not much happens but the 1st episode is good
Art 7/10 - Decent and clean looking
Sound 7/10 - The food sound effects are especially prominent
...
Character 9/10 - Tsumugi sounds and acts like a real child. All the characters in the show feel like real people
Enjoyment: 8/10 - Very wholesome and relaxing
Overall 8/10 - Not a must watch but you definitely won't regret watching this

I was recommended this show told it would bring me to tears and it was the most moving piece of visual media ever. Sadly, I was disappointed and my only emotions throughout the show were confusion and uncomfortableness.
Story 6/10 - An improvement on the first season. While it has random unrelated arcs like Sunohara dating Nagisa's mom for no reason, the final 10 episodes actually followed Tomoya's life and tied up loose ends, so I will give it credit for that.
Art 2/10 - Same as season 1, all the women have the same face with only different eye and hair colors. They look
...
like Gollum cosplayers with fist sized eyeballs. Their whole face is 10% forehead, 85% eyeball, 5% 1 inch wide mouth. Funny to look at in a nonsensical surreal way, but it made me unable to take any sad scenes seriously when they are all O_O. It would be much more fitting in a Parody/Comedy than something trying to be serious.
Sound 3/10 - Again, good soundtracks but I hear the same song loudly every episode, on repeat, multiple times an episode. There's about 3-4 songs, one for each emotion like happiness, sadness, etc. that play once an episode. More songs would help break up the monotony.
Character 3/10 - Tomoya is basically the only character with depth. All of the cast basically disappears because they have no real backstory; the first part of the season is just them doing their stereotypical things. For the girls, they just giggle, and squeak while Kyou yells. Sunohara just does random nonsense stuff while getting beat up for amusement. They're not characters. They're backdrops. Sunohara doesn't exist outside of saying stupid stuff and being beat up for comedy. Kyou has no other personality than being Tsundere who is madly in love with the MC because of..... plot reasons? Every single character just has 1 annoying action that is their whole personality and existence. They don't exist outside of this 1 action. Watching Nagisa or Fuko speak evokes feelings of embarrassment, there is an awkward comfortability seeing adult women in their 20's sounding and acting like children. They don't feel like characters, but actors in a children's show portraying a character type. They would fit much better in Looney Toons or Spongebob than something trying to be moving and serious.
Enjoyment 3/10 - After story suffers the same issues of failing to evoke any emotion in me like season 1 did. It contradicts itself, it tries to be absurd and nonsensical, yet also drives down realistic themes about family at the same time. I cannot take either theme seriously. The redeeming aspect for me was Tomoya forgiving his father, because I felt that was a real, relatable moment for the audience. I could tell the deaths in the show were meant to be meaningful, but how am I supposed to feel anything if they just timeskip right after? All of the grieving, growth and discussion is gone. They basically just waved a wand and made the characters disappear. Overall, I tried very hard to be invested in the story, but the contradictions, poor art and absurdity just pushed me out and made me see it as parody instead of drama. Related note, Nagisa and Fuko still have the same high pitched shrill voices that are like a cheese grater on my ears. They also have the same uncomfortably childish personalities and intelligence. It is simply too contradictory, I am presented with both realism and absurdity, sadness but also a timeskip so there is none. I want to be sad, but the characters are so ridiculous and nonsensical, I can't empathize with them.
Overall 3/10 - Inconsistent and honestly strange. Has one meaningful moment, but most of it is just weirdness. I had high expectations for after story as it was highly rated but ultimately it only improved on a few of the issues with season 1.

Overall had high expectations but it was really dry and not that exciting.
Story 5/10 - It's a simple story. Get revenge. Kill people. Which of course, isn't a bad thing, since it's easy to remember. However many other things were missing that hampered my enjoyment.
Art - 8/10 - High quality, high fps animation. Very nice to look at, not much more to say.
Sound 3/10 - The OST is very weak, and builds basically no hype. Compare it to the epic orchestras and choirs of Attack on Titan, for example, which create drama, suspense, and energize the viewer. Here, I was just sitting unentertained as a
...
bunch of gory fighting happened in relative silence. An epic nordic OST with chants and drums would have helped a lot.
Character 3/10 - Askeladd is complex and entertaining, and that's about it. Thorfinn is basically your run of the mill MC thats OP for no reason, and has an uncontrollable temper. He basically kills people, and that's it. Canute is also not much better, he goes from helpless wimp to suddenly a confident commander in 5 minutes because the plot demands it. Overall, the characters weren't entertaining to watch and were rather boring.
Enjoyment 5/10 - The animation is quality, but the show itself had no hype. It was as dry as a boiled chicken breast. There wasn't any energizing moments, or suspense or drama, just a bunch of Nordic dudes chopping heads with no real reason. I enjoyed the episodes somewhat but wasn't inclined to keep watching, I just watched because I had free time.
Overall 5/10 - I cannot say this is a bad show. It is a good show, at least. But I was bored through half of it, so I can't say it deserves higher than a 5.
