I'm no spring chicken when it comes to MHA, been following the series since 2019. That being said, there's so much awesome that has come from this season in particular, that I'm mostly happy with the overall outcome of it - even though I'm giving it a "mixed feelings" review.
My main issue is the pacing, man it's just...all over the place this time around. They reveal some absolutely EPIC moments but then right as you're getting into it - boom, they switch it up and turn your attention to another fight that's going on somewhere else. Trust me when I say, this sort of behavior
...
is MOSTLY normal for this anime. But, given the amount of things happening all at once here, it's just too much going on all at once to keep up with it, both emotionally & mentally.
Another negative is the fact that they reeeallllyyyy dragged out some fights, WAY more-so than they usually would. Or, on the flip side, they show a few minutes of one fight, and then simply never cut back to it at all. This is kinda why my chief complaint is the pacing with this season, and why I'm totally considering this season an outlier given the number of cliffhangers we're left on. If I had to give an example, after the initial fight between Deku & Shiguraki, we pretty much only get snippets of the outcome of that fight since there's a ton more going on elsewhere.
Though, that being said, some of the moments outlined in this season are truly epic. The reveals that are shown here are way more than I ever anticipated. It was very awesome to see Lady Nagant randomly show up after leaving the hospital to help Deku in stopping Shigaraki - or how we see La Brava & Gentle Criminal also aiding the Heroes as their redemption stories unfold. Truly flipping epic and I HOPE we see more of them in the final season.
Yeah, I'm probably going to re-watch this season just due to the insane amount of content covered in the 21 episodes we were given this time around. And yes, I do recommend you watch it if you've been following the anime this entire time, just be aware of pacing issues.

This is one of my favorite feel-good, "turn off your brain" sort of anime series. Up until this movie, I've been moderately happy with how things turned out. However, this atrocity was unbelievably poor compared to the main anime series & movie afterward.
This'll be a short review considering there's not much to say about this, but let me start by saying this is NOT cannon to me. 75% of this "movie" can be boiled down to filler, & fan-service, that had nothing to do with the main plotline. And, when there is "plot" happening, it happens so fast, you almost feel whiplash to how bad
...
the pacing is. I tried to find something to like about it, & the only redeeming qualities is how they still do retain the main ecchi, funny moments from the main series, which was...nice, I guess. Other than that, the ending left me completely & utterly confused, never explained or showed anything I was expecting, just kinda...cuts off. Yeah...uh, not good.
One more note to add, is that the art-style was slightly different compared to any other adaptation (another reason I don't consider this cannon). I don't know what happened, or why they seemed to hire a different studio to make this movie, but it really threw me off & didn't look "correct." At the very least, they could have gotten the original studio to create this adaptation. Huge letdown.
This is the worst anime movie I've seen in years, considering how old this one is though, I doubt many will care to watch it. I only really recommend this to someone who is DYING for more content on this series, but if you're not, please just stay away. It will only frustrate you & leave you scratching your head in confusion over the ending. NOT recommended (& not cannon, if you care).

It's quite rare that my feelings will change so dramatically after a single re-watch, but it's fair to say that this anime truly is...something interesting. I decided to rewatch it simply out of curiosity, due to how harsh I was with it the first time I watched it. I regarded it as a "cringe-fest" with a hollow main character, who has no real character development. While some of that is true, it's definitely a bit clearer what is not.
The name of this anime suggests one thing right off the bat, & it's that Tomoko likes to put the blame on everyone else, before looking at
...
herself. I noticed that she tends to go through a "cycle" of emotions throughout the show, going from a viewpoint that everyone else around her is "below her," to saying: "I want all of their attention, right now." Essentially going back & forth on hating her classmates, but also wanting to be popular in their eyes. What's kinda sad, is that she always tries so hard to do the latter, but then it almost always backfires & destroys any possibility that she'll be able to be seen as "popular" to her peers.
Getting to the part that IS most definitely true, is the cringe. Yes, this is a very cringe-worthy anime. It's probably up there with the most cringe-worthy anime I've seen. But, the main reason I find it to be less of a problem, & more of something to laugh at, is because of how silly most of the cringe tends to be. She is the sole cause of her misfortunes, & her misfortunes are always the cause of the cringe. She's so completely absorbed into her own world, that she fails to see how things could go wrong; even if the outcome will almost always be worse if you...just think about it for a second.
This is where people would agree that she doesn't have much character development, but I'd have to disagree. It's true that she takes a while to start showing any amount of development, but over the course of the anime, you can see her slowly building up the courage to talk to people around her. Going from someone who can barely make any amount of eye contact with someone, to approaching someone herself toward the end (albeit, she fails still, but I consider that development). Not to mention that she slowly eases up on the whole "I hate my classmates" idea, & tries to lean into thinking of ways to improve her High School life.
Though, in the end, I have mixed feelings about recommending this anime. If you're not used to a lot of cringe, or just can't handle it, you should stay away. It's not easy to watch, & if you take it too seriously it just becomes a chore to watch. This is the type of anime that you need to come into with low expectations, you probably won't be disappointed if you do that. As all, I think it's a fair watch if you consider all of that! I definitely enjoyed my second watch much more than the first!

I have watched this anime around three times now, and each time it's gotten progressively worse. I don't know if it's because I've matured and moved on from the "mainstream" anime I used to watch. Either way, my feelings toward this anime have changed, so it's time for another re-review.
Tokyo Ghoul. This anime was a depressing show to watch again, given I went into it knowing what to expect, but feel completely different now that I'm done. It's a lot darker, depressing, and much more edgy than I once remember it being. Most of the notable characters here all start out with this trope-y "badass"
...
vibe that gives you this feeling of "oh god, why are they so edgy." Then, back off over time with that feeling, almost leveling out and showing nearly zero signs of progression in their character.
Of course, this isn't true for all characters, Kaneki, for example, does have some decent character progression, but only after being tortured for who knows how long. Which, if I may add, the latter half of the anime has terrible pacing and I really feel like they were trying to tell two stories at the same time, but only ever focusing on Kaneki.
I dunno, I feel weird giving it such a lower score now, but I can't help but feel jaded from shows that force the "badass, edgy" vibe, then turn sour with a giant cliffhanger at the end. It's tiring and bored. Of course, this is an older show, which is why I still think it's decent for what it's worth, but please don't expect more than it's worth. I recommend you go into this with low expectations, and the willpower to watch some brutal moments.

It being 2022, the year the anime is actually "set" in, at least at first, I thought I'd re-watch it and give my thoughts on it. And, after all of my years of watching anime, I've never seen an anime do so much wrong...and so much right; all at the same time.
Sword Art Online. Arguably one of, if not the most controversial anime, ever? If you tell someone you like this anime, they'll fall into one of two crowds: A crowd, which scoffs at your ignorance for liking such a "shitty" anime. And B crowd, which fully agrees at the "masterpiece" that this anime is.
...
I am in neither of these crowds, and I really think more people should join me. Let me explain...
There's no denying that this anime is truly filled with TONS of plot holes, lack of character development (with the majority of characters we see), and a story that goes bad after the first arc ends. So, why on earth do I think this anime is worthy of being rectified after all this time? It's because of how much I enjoyed this shit show. Don't get me wrong, I fully agree with crowd A, in the sense that this anime has a lot of issues and goes places that it really didn't have to go. But, I kept having to put the mighty sword of "elitism" down for a second, and remember why we watch anime in the first place: to be entertained. You can complain to me all you want about why x anime has issues, blah, blah, whatever. In the end, it's up to you, the person who watches the anime, to determine whether you enjoyed what you were watching, regardless of how shitty it was. Sure, good characters and a masterclass story are great, but I believe it all comes down to our enjoyment of said characters/stories.
That all being said, I did enjoy what I was watching. Though, I too scoffed at the Gary Stu persona of our main character, Kirito. He's an arrogant teenager who gets all the girls' attention, virtually does everything right, and never messes up when the situation gets hot. He even goes as far to break the laws of the game world he plays in. SURELY he can't be a good character, right? Well, okay, he really is all of that. But after watching so-many-anime with protagonists that have flaws...sometimes, it's actually nice to just turn my brain off, and enjoy characters like this. WHO CARES if they're generic and have no character. I didn't take anything here seriously, and neither should you. Why? Because it's a fucking anime, that's why.
In any case, that doesn't mean I wasn't annoyed when characters appeared once, and never again. Like, there are so many characters in this anime that add near zero to the overall show, it's almost sad. The only character in this anime that actually was somewhat fleshed out, & showed any real development, was Asuna. Even more, where they take the anime during the second "arc," and how they treat Asuna, the only character with actual development during the first arc, was undeniably a blow to her character. Let alone this awkwardly strange (pretty much, incest) relationship they try to push on the viewers between Kirito and his cousin. I can't deny I wasn't happy with that. Nobody was.
So, why? Why do I like it? It's like I said before, I enjoyed the entertainment I was given. I enjoyed the intense action scenes, the music (OP/ED in this anime are really good, ngl), and the story they started with. Which, if they had ended this anime when SAO actually ended, it would have been so much better. It's also the incredibly unrealistic approach to how one single player in a game world was able to accomplish all of that. The unrealistic approach is what makes it appealing to me. The character interactions are also really great, seeing how one character interacts with another after something huge either happens, or gets revealed. It's all so dramatic, and unrealistic. Not normal to how things are usually in a wide majority of other anime, and that...is why I enjoyed this.
If you are looking for an anime that has all of that, an anime that you can turn your brain off to and just enjoy it for what it's worth, you'll have a good time here. I promise.

There's really something about these "teasing" anime that really get me hooked sometimes...
Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san, an anime about a first year bully-girl, who teases our timid, shy protagonist "Senpai." This is not like other anime in the same genre (looking at you, Takagi-san). And I say that because of how harsh this one comes off as, at first.
In the beginning of the story, our bully, Nagatoro, comes off as a bitchy, rude asshole, who has no remorse toward "Senpai." She takes pleasure in watching him cry, and enjoys teasing him for the fun of it. Sometimes, even seeming a bit sadistic in her approach to
...
bullying him. However, her development over time with him is drastic enough to warrant me mentioning that: she isn't nearly the same person they want you to think she is when you first start the story.
Senpai has a similar approach to how they develop him over time, going from a bubble blowing baby, to someone who can stand up to her, learning how to put up boundaries and getting closer with her as a person. Many of the side-characters, however, are indeed one-dimensional, and don't have the same charm as our two main characters. This is to be expected for an anime of this caliber.
The OP was probably my biggest highlight for this show. The creativity and work that was put into it was more than I expected to find from an anime like this. It fits really nicely with the overall theme of the show and has really cool visuals, very unique.
I tried very hard not to spoil much here, but the general gist is: go into this blind, don't read any other reviews (specially the "top reviews," my GOD they are stupid for this anime). And understand what you're getting yourself into, yes, she's a "real" bully, and not just teasing him at the start. But, I think the development (while scripted), is enjoyable and fun enough to recommend a watch!

BOOM! EXPLOSIONS! WOW! That's...pretty much this movie. End review...
Just kidding. But in all seriousness, there's a lot of happening with this movie. On one hand, you have Trigger's colorful, in-your-face animation style, which is always fun to watch. But, on the other hand, you have a lack of character development, a tired story that seems to have a LOT of borrowed elements from Kill la Kill & Gurran Laggan. Making it seem more of a nostalgia trip than a unique, new experience. For a while, however, I was really getting into the plot they were trying to develop, but it fell right on it's face
...
toward the end when they seemingly rushed everything.
I hate to give this a 5, but if this was an Anime, it would have had more time to develop the characters instead of throwing a ton of characters at you with little, to no screen time between them; only ever focusing on two or three main characters. Good animation though, but I only recommend this to people who enjoyed Gurran Laggan.

This is my second review, and second viewing of this anime. Which, before, I had an intense disliking toward. Of course, after re-watching, it's not as bad as I originally thought. Though, still not as great as the monolithic first season was.
Psycho Pass 2 has a lot going on for it. At first, it seems like a copy of what the first season was, but with a different cast and feeling. Some characters felt awkward and annoying, and others, pushed aside. The story mostly surrounds a new antagonist, who's got it out to change the Sibyl system and take revenge for what happened in his
...
past. Of course, this antagonist,
Kamui, is not anywhere close to the outstanding Makishima from the first season, but if you take a good understanding to his motives, it's fair to say he's not terrible.
The story surrounding his motives was my real issue, and the bumpy ride it gave was...difficult to back up. One episode in particular, episode 4, was quite possibly the dumbest, most ridiculous episode of the entire first two seasons alone. I won't go into many details, but let's just say, this episode was a good reason why I can't say this season is anywhere near the first. Characters made big mistakes, and a lot happens that doesn't quite make much sense...it's really a huge mess.
Thankfully it recovers enough, though, with a fairly lackluster end that leaves the viewer wondering what will come of the series. But overall, I have to say this anime really does need multiple viewings to get the full effect. Don't go into this comparing it to season 1 like I did, it'll only dissapoint you. Instead, try to look at it as it's own season.

I've watched a lot of anime since the last time I watched this series. From the horrible, to the absolutely incredible. This, being one of the very first anime I have ever watched during my viewing of anime as a whole, still holds some value in certain areas.
Rosario to Vampire 2. This anime is what happens if you take Iruma-kun, and add some ecchi on the side. That's it. But, in all seriousness, if I even want to compare this to Iruma-kun, I'd have to say that Iruma-kun does things much more...generic, than this anime? Though, I do have a slight bias toward the characters
...
in this anime, as opposed to Iruma-kun.
In any case, what this anime does wrong is in it's plot-devices. Each episode has the same-exact, cookie cutter outlook, that it's no wonder people dislike this anime. In short, something *bad* happens, Tsukune is bombarded by boobs/ass the entire time as things go wrong, and then by the end, Moka kicks the "bad" person's ass. So, in other words, if you hate repetitious plot-devices, that tend to become a cliché in themselves, then you should not be watching this series at all.
Other than that, the reason I enjoy this so much is that it's one of those anime that I can kinda turn my brain off, and just enjoy what I'm viewing, without having to think too hard about anything. Sometimes, it's nice to sit back and view an anime that has cliché characters, doing cliché things, specially if you adore them (yes, most of the characters are very cliché, but in their own way, are special and unique).
So, why the 8/10 then? Well, even though the story is kinda...not really there, & the art/sound are 100% dated in 2021, the characters are what bring this anime's enjoyment up a notch for me. I enjoy this anime for it's simplicity. That's it. Cya.

I have watched a lot of different anime up to this point, and many have tried to pull at my heart strings, only to fail miserably. Few get to the point where they manage to pull it off, and pull it off well. This anime should be a golden standard for that "feeling."
Kimi ni Todoke. This is probably one of the best romance anime I have ever seen. I want to compare it to Toradora, the only other *good* romance anime I've seen, but...I just can't. Mainly because there are certain caveats here that make it stand out more in some areas, and less in
...
others. To start, the characters are vastly different in this anime compared to many romance anime I have seen thus far. Only going to talk about the main girl here, because if I got into all the characters, this would be far too long. Alright, let's go!
Sawako, she's by far the most calming, angelic character I have witnessed in an anime to date. She's sometimes almost *too* perfect, and that leads her character on as sometimes being unnatural, or generic-feeling. But, she also can have a sort of "realistic" approach to things as well, which makes her character feel more genuine. It is very, very difficult, in my mind, to dislike her character, BUT I can see how someone wouldn't like it. Without getting into any details, she interacts with the other characters beautifully, and treats situations with care and caution, always wondering if she's bothering others; selfless in a way. Many girls throughout the show treat her terribly, and her recourse as a character isn't with mutual feelings, but kind, respect. This is what makes her feel so much different, and even somewhat uniquely-realistic, in a sense. I simply just love the unique-kindness she shows that you rarely see in anime portrayed in such a way that doesn't feel "generic."
An example of how she is different to other characters who lead this "angelic" and "kind" approach would be: Tsumugi Kotobuki, a similar character from the anime K-On! She has the same attitude and approach to how she interacts with characters, but, the one thing she does not do that you often see Sawako doing, is actively checking herself. Always checking to see if she's being considerate, and doesn't have a "fake" sense of being the "kind" girl in the anime, JUST BECAUSE she's written that way. Basically, Sawako feels like she's more complex in a way that makes her feel genuine.
Most of the other characters have a very similar feel, but I really wanted to point out just how good Sawako, as a character, is. She really makes you feel her emotions, and that's something I rarely see nowadays. Another notable character that feels "right" would be Kurumi. She's the polar opposite of Sawako, and to not spoil anything, does everything wrongly to try and harm Sawako. However, during her moments of regret, she shows a new face that we have never usually seen from her. Similar to Sawako, she also has this feeling of "depth" and genuine nature that makes her feel so much more than the "bitchy" character she was written to be.
Anyways, most of the anime surrounds the characters, the story is very simple in its plot and I have nothing against simple. Art direction and sound, at least for the time this anime was airing, is actually quite good. Overall, this anime is heavily invested in showing you a story that surrounds the characters, and not characters that surround a story. You want to watch this for the characters, NOT the story. And I highly recommend that you do, I loved this and will definitely be watching the second season!
