Both hard sci-fi mangas with an important focus on character's introspection. 2001 Nights Stories has a larger scale and is an anthology but if you like one, you should like the other.

They are both adapted from novels of Yoshiki Tanaka, and are Space Opera with many politics aspects. Tytania is really similar to LoGH in many aspects, the designs are similar, the worldbuilding and characters look really close... Tytania is not as good as LoGH but great for every fans of Space Opera and of the author.

They are the most strategic mecha shows. Both are real robot shows with strong worldbuilding, politics and tactics. Both are stories of revolution for independence. Code Geass is a great show, very entertaining and with a good story, but Fang of the Sun Dougram is way more mature and profound, with a more complex and rich story and a lot more realistic. It gets old but is a strong similar anime to Code Geass.

Fang of the Sun Dougram is the mecha version of Legend of the Galactic Heroes, and also a precursor to it in some way. They are both heavy political hard sci-fi shows, with many episodes and a strong storyline. Dougram is not as much well written and non-Manichean than LoGH but very close to it. The political focus, the strategic battles, the historical/documentary aspect, the realism of the deep worldbuilding and the very humans characters of Dougram strongly remind LoGH. Just replace huge space fleets battles by grounded guerrilla fight with mecha. If you're a fan of LoGH, Fang of the Sun Dougram is the next anime on your list ! And if you're a fan of Dougram and you didn't see LoGH, how it's even possible ?

The original Mobile Suit Gundam created the "real robot" genre and the first to follow this movement was Fang of the Sun Dougram. It's the most underrated Gundam-like but one of the best written. It's one of the most extreme definition of "real robot" thanks to a very realistic worldbuilding. If you like the realism and politics of Gundam you'll like Dougram. It's as good as Gundam if it's not best.

Dougram is like a fusion between the original MS Gundam and The 08th MS Team. There's the guerrilla aspect and realistic mech battles of The 08th MS Team with the political focus and long-running story of Gundam 0079. If you like realism, strategy and great story in mecha shows, watch The 08th MS Team and even if it got old, watch Dougram.

I think Fang of the Sun Dougram and the Patlabor franchise are the most realistic mecha shows ever made. They show a very realistic use of mecha, and a realistic mecha design, very humans characters, and a focus on political aspects. Patlabor 2 is the most similar to Dougram thanks to the serious tone, more politics than usually in the franchise, and the war themes.
