This manga is similar to Defying Kurosaki-Kun, but it feels poorly made, like a cheap imitation. The main character fits the Tsundere type, but unlike most Tsundere characters who have some redeeming traits, this one is quite unlikable. I really disliked him, and I’m not exaggerating when I say I hoped for a bad outcome for him. The first 79 chapters are poorly written and hard to believe, making it tough to read. However, if you get to chapter 80, the story changes significantly, almost as if a new author took over, and the quality improves enough to be enjoyable. The romance develops very slowly,
...
so if you’re not patient, this manga might not be for you. The artwork is also lacking.
On a side note, the last chapter confused me. Why are they back in Japan after leaving for the U.S. for at least four years? What’s the timeline? Also, why would someone study business in the U.S. to work for their uncle’s company but end up as a kindergarten teacher? He doesn’t seem good with kids; he’s better suited for business. It feels like this chapter was meant to be an alternate ending, but the author doesn’t explain it, leaving readers puzzled.

This narrative unfolds during the Edo period, where traditional gender roles are flipped, resulting in a population where women outnumber men by four to one due to a devastating pandemic known as the Redface Pox, which exclusively targets young men. Over the course of 80 years, a quarter of the male population is lost, leading women to effectively govern the nation while men are left with no option but to sell themselves to survive. Conventional family structures have vanished, and marriage is now a privilege reserved for the wealthy. The plot centers around the female shogun of Edo Castle and the lives of the numerous
...
men residing in its inner chambers.
I found the synopsis intriguing and was eager to watch, but the experience was quite difficult for me. The central couple faces relentless separation, with a series of tragic events unfolding, but what truly affected me were the scenes of sexual violence. I struggle with such content, making the entire series a challenging watch. I held on until the end, hoping for a positive resolution, only to be left feeling let down. If I could turn back time to avoid watching this anime, I would do so without hesitation.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this manga. The start was a bit awkward, but once I got through the first few volumes, the story really warmed my heart, especially seeing how Hana impacts Yuzuru. He begins as a tough guy who gets into fights and has flings, but he eventually transforms into someone truly lovable.
What sets this apart from many other shoujo mangas is the absence of a second male lead vying for Hana's affection. Instead, there's Ruka, a second female character who really frustrated me. At first, I thought she was awesome for rescuing Hana from a tough
...
spot, but then the author kind of ruined her character. I just don’t get why she’s trying to keep Yuzuru stuck in the past when he’s finally ready to move on from all his trauma and self-destructive habits.
I really appreciate how the author tackles real-life issues that high schoolers face, like choosing a career and figuring out their future after graduation. This made it feel more mature compared to a lot of other shoujo manga that often skip over these important topics.
The artwork is absolutely gorgeous. I was completely captivated by how beautifully Hana and Yuzuru are illustrated. This manga was a hidden treasure for me, and I’m so happy I stumbled upon it.

The first five volumes are quite lacking in quality, filled with low-grade erotic content that detracts from what could be a fascinating story. Despite this, I continued reading because I was curious about the main character's fate, her identity, and her connection to Mitsuki, the girl she chose to inhabit. I'm really glad I persevered because by the time I reached volume six, the author completely shifted gears, transforming the narrative into a shoujo romance with a love triangle featuring endearing characters and a storyline that truly resonates.
The conclusion is bittersweet, and while I didn't dislike it, I must admit that I'm a
...
hopeless romantic at heart. I was really cheering for Yuuya and Mitsuki. It seemed clear to me that, among the three girls, Mitsuki was the one he had genuine feelings for right until the end. There's even a moment when Yukina asks Yuuya if he's ever been in love, and the first person that comes to mind is Mitsuki. However, he never acts on those feelings, which left me feeling a bit unsatisfied.

Yona of The Dawn is a true masterpiece and work of art.
This series has by far the best character development I have ever read in my lifetime. Yona starts out as a spoiled, pampered, sheltered princess who has lived a privileged life completely oblivious to the deteriorating state of her kingdom and the poverty stricken people that are suffering due to her father’s cowardly approach to ruling. However, after witnessing her father’s murder at the hands of her cousin Su-Won, the man she loved and hoped to marry she is forced to flee the only home she’s ever known with her childhood friend and bodyguard
...
Hak. Yona, betrayed and heartbroken is forced to confront the realities of the world and learn how to survive on her own. She embarks on a quest to find the four legendary dragon warriors who will help her save the kingdom. Meanwhile, her friendship with Hak slowly blossoms into something more...
Over the course of the series, Yona transforms into an intelligent, reckless but incredibly brave, strong and capable leader who is determined to protect her loved ones at any cost. She learns how to fight, becomes more independent, and empathetic to the struggles of the people around her. Through her struggles she finds her purpose and vows to retake the thrown so she can put an end to the war and better the lives of her people.
Yona is joined on her journey by a diverse group of people, each with their own unique personalities and skills. As they travel together, they form close bonds and become like a family. From the friendship between Yona and Yun to the romantic tension between Yona and Hak, there is no shortage of interesting relationships to explore

I really enjoyed this manga! Historical romance dramas are my favorite, and this one fits perfectly. The artwork is stunning, and the characters are well-developed with distinct personalities. There’s a mix of political tension and romantic possibilities that kept me engaged in the story and curious about the characters.
Freya is a peasant girl caring for her ill mother. The villagers support them because her two adopted brothers are away in the prince's army. At the start of the manga, the knights return home, possibly for the last time, as war looms. The older brother confesses his love to Freya before he leaves, but she
...
worries he sees her as just a sister, even though they aren't related. As the story progresses and she moves to the palace, new and attractive suitors appear!
If I had to critique something, it would be that the main storyline about Freya taking the prince's place felt rushed. Without reading the synopsis first, I might not have understood what was happening. It would have improved the story to show the prince being poisoned and his advisors planning to use a decoy. That part was mostly left to the reader's imagination, and I felt like I missed some pages of the manga.
