While the 2 shows tell really different stories, they both treat the same theme of how to maintain a working society when some people (or everyone in Shinsekai Yoru) is a walking nuke and whether sacrifices are legitimate. However, while both shows have a somewhat similar setting and themes, they go about telling their story from a different point of view with a really different tone and pacing, making them complementary shows more than similar ones.

Both are a more "realistic" take on isekai, and while The faraway paladin's MC (Will) is quite powerfull, each enemy can still be threat and he can't allway win which help keep the tension hight, but unlike in Grimgar it's overall way more potive despite the rather dark world. Both serie are also really light on fan service with no harem and a very slow romance or no romance.

From the same author, in the same universe but each story taking place on a different continent. Both stories are quite similar since they're "realistic" harsh war stories with a merciless powerful young girl for MC. Karin wo idaita Shoujo is a bit more light-hearted than Shinigami wo Tabeta Shoujo.

If you've grown kinda bored of the naivety of FUNA's story, The girl who ate a death god is a darker version of that. It's also about a young girl who nearly died and gained great power from that event, and decided to not let anybody get in her way and enjoyed life with friends. Well the difference being that in Death God the MC is trying to take revange along the way and is way, way more ruthless same for the world which is way darker, the plot is also more important, with less cuteness.
