Just skip to the TL;DR because i dont want to spoil the entire show.
This show suffers from the plague that are LN tropes and a weak writer. While it was really easy to watch and the premise was somewhat interesting i found the final product to be quite average.
This is a show that had a lot of potential and you could see how it could be amazing but it failed miserably, i would say it was disappointing to see what could have been a great show become this.
Characters- The main character and the red haired girl have a interesting relationship, but thats about it, not
...
any of the other characters are worth mentioning. Yeah they exist, they have their place in the story but they are barely memorable.
In fact i actually think the best character in the show was a side character that showed up in a few episodes, unfortunately i cannot recall her name, ill just call her soldier girl.
The worst character was without a doubt clan leader girl, everything that happens around her is just one big coincidence, wouldnt really want to spoil things though.
Story - It peaked around episode 8, its not exactly the best story ever but there are a few moments that where pretty well executed. The tactics used where pretty interesting.
Its very difficult to stay immersed in this story even though it is a easy digestible and fun watch.
Its hard to explain why for me this didnt work, while the story seemed pretty good. It had a lot to do with the dialogue of the show (calling things lazy when they are just efficient and repeating it over and over again. Or calling things scientific for no reason). A lot of the "coincidences" of the show just didnt sit right with me
Art - Sound - its average, has its moments where its well animated has its moments where its not, the art style is quite boring and so are the character designs. Sound is also pretty average, doesnt stand out at all.
TL;DR- While i do have quite a few complaints with the show i found it quite enjoyable and if you are checking this review to see if you should watch it or not, i say:
yeah watch it, its entertaining.

I am a big fan of One Piece, have always been and as a fan this movie is a must watch, not because it is canon but because it might be one of the best One Piece movies.
In fact, i think it is the second best One Piece movie right after Strong World. I am not a japanese speaker but i had the luck to be able to watch it in the theaters in japan right after it came out. It was a highly entertaining movie, and just about as good as a non canon movie can be.
I don't think this is a movie exceptionally
...
good for someone who doesn't know the main story already, but i went to see it with people that are not into the One piece universe and they liked it very much too.
What might be considered the worst part of the movie are the villains, Tesoro is fine as a main villain but his "crew" was really lackluster unfortunately. Due to the high number of the main cast (straw hats) it was impossible to give every one of them a super important role. The ones who where lacking in this movie where brook and chopper mostly.
This movie focuses mostly on Nami, Luffy and Franky which was a very good surprise. I also loved one of the characters from Tesoro's crew, Carina was the highlight of the movie for me.
This movie had a fair share of entertaining plot twists and also a very good setting.
Finally Toei gave One Piece the animation quality it deserves with some beautiful fights throughout the entire movie. The sound for me in the cinema was too loud, which was a detriment to the show especially during the start of the movie and at the end, with explosions that where both capable of destroying ships as much as they where able to destroy my ears capability of hearing.
Overall a must watch for One Piece fans, it was such a joy to watch, especially with the huge amount of references to the main series. If you are not a One piece fan i also recommend this movie because it is very entertaining even though you might feel a bit lost with the terminology like Haki, Devil fruits, Awakening.
My Overall score for this movie is a 7, this does not mean that it was a bad movie by any means, in fact this means its a highly recommendable movie. As i said previously if you are a fan of the series you are gonna absolutely LOVE this movie.
Absolutely worth the 15$ i had to pay for my ticket to the cinema.

Lets talk FLCL or furi kuri, it is hard to review something you think is really good. While reviewing something you don't like is easy because you can tell what you think said show did wrong, it is harder to explain why this show did what it did and why it worked.
Unfortunately i am not good at making reviews of shows i do care about a lot, since its hard to explain in a "spoiler free review" why in this show it works, and what makes it great.
I will adress some of the bigger complaints about the show, which are: the show is confusing, it
...
does not have a plot, or people hate the characters. I will adress each in their own section. So, let me have a quick rundown over MALs topics (story, art, sound, characters).
STORY - 8
Some people have a really big problem with the story in this show, i don't get it. The series is episodic with each episode focusing on a certain character plus our mc, and each episode evolves said character while constructing to the final goal of developing our MC and telling the story as a growing up story (forget the more frequently used term right now).
The usual complaint about the story being confusing or the episodes being confusing is lost on me, since it was really easy to get, the "real" story or why a certain character comes to this town is only revealed in ep4/5. But the first 3 episodes are necessary build up for these characters, especially Naota. The final scene wouldn't have the same impact without us knowing the exact circumstances of this kid's life.
I found that it handled its themes pretty well, with each episode focusing on one problem (for example the second one being about bullying and how a certain character copes with it).
As i said there exists story in this show. In fact, FLCL manages to tell a much better story than most 12 eps anime with half the time. I find it weird that most people say this when a series starts episodic.
Art - 9
This was a really experimental work, with quick changes in style and because of that it might not be for everyone, some people might even hate it because its not conventional sometimes. I loved it, from the wacky manga panels type art to the amazingly executed fight scenes. It also has a really good artstyle.
Sound - 9
Again another amazing thing about FLCL, i wish most anime would have soundtrack at least half as good as FLCL. Even if you dislike the show, its almost impossible to not like the music. Also the VA's did a really good job and the sound effects where great and all that. I am actually writing this review while listening to it, it nothing short of amazing
Characters - 8 - Very important
This will be what makes or breaks the anime for you, explaining why i thought the character episodes worked so well, or why all the character are well thought out and great characters would go into spoiler territory. All i can say is the story revolves around 2 characters, Naota and Haruko. Some people seem to hate Haruko for being crazy as she is, for me this only makes it better for the few moments she is serious. Naota is a extremely well developed teenager with every problem a teenager his age would have. The other relevant characters which are imo Mamimi, Amarao, and Eri Ninamori are also excellent characters.
I wanna make a honorable mention to the quote from ep 2 "I don't know where the truth ends and the lie begins", that perfectly describes the relationship between Naota and Mamimi, i wanted to use it but i don't know where else it would fit.
Again if you don't like the characters its very likely that you will not like the show. I might not like some of these characters as persons (if they existed) but i love them as characters because of how well constructed they are, they might fit a mold at first(tropes, mostly Naota) but even then they are not shallow as most anime nowadays.
Enjoyment who the fuck cares what i give it, should be obvious by now.
Overall - 9
You might go on my list and see that this is not the score i have on there, that is because 9 is the score i have for "masterpieces" and 10's are my favorites among those obviously.
Overall i think this show is a experience most of all.
This is without a doubt a show you should watch, it doesnt matter in which side of the fence you end up sitting on, its worth if only by the sound and the crazyness of it. And theres nothing else quite like it, there are some shows that might resemble it a bit (Diebuster) but theres nothing quite like it.
I usually do a Positives/Negatives but i don't see a point for this anime since i love everything about it, yes everything. By the way the score for each section dont mean a thing, its really hard to describe this anime with simple values, a basis of comparison is needed for it to work somewhat decently, since theres nothing quite like it.
Is it crazy? Yes absolutely, but it is a brilliant kind of crazy.

SPOILERS
I was inclined to write this review because every other review for this show before they started being removed had less than 12 episodes seen, which means it was still in the "monster of the week" formula and it still had the potential to become something interesting.
Disclaimer i dropped this show at the end of the first cour (12 episodes) because while it tried to start to have a plot it was still episodic. I should have dropped it for good because the plot that started to appear is nothing special or even creative, the episodic stories about different monsters are far more interesting than
...
the main story.
i will give a rundown for the topics:
Story: It started episodic, which is fine but it took to long to start with the bigger story, more than half this show (13 eps) are of monster that we will never see again. But now for the actual story, should i say its "generic", i dont really wanna use that word but you are not getting here anything new or creative, the villain also doesnt have any motivation besides being evil. The villain is also super all powerful and nothing can defeat it except for our special snowflake protagonist with his super secret powerful weapon.
Nothing fascinating about it, it has been done a million times already and much better than it is done here
2
Art and Animation: Really well done and it has a nice 80's/90's feel to it, looks really good. Still nothing super impressive about it like from other shows but it looks nice and it is consistently good
7
Sound: this is the one i have no clue what to give it, i liked the op but i didnt really feel any impact from the soundtrack in itself. I dont really remember anything from the OST, and it didnt really feel impactful during the show but it didnt feel out of place either. So i guess the score of average not good but not bad perfectly describes the sound for Ushio to Tora
5
Characters: At first i loved them, i still love Tora he is the high point of the show but he isnt enough, the side characters are all uninteresting and the biggest problem of the show has become Ushio.
Ok spoilers in this paragraph so i can explain why. The reason i say this is because he hasn't developed one bit, he is still the same exact person he was at the start, his "strategy" to fight any and all youkai is full frontal attack, which not surprisingly always fails. So the show becomes super repetitive because of this, Ushio has to save everyone as is typical of every shounen Mc but the only way he goes about defeating youkai is running at them and trying to poke em with a spear, over and over again. The youkai eventually wins over Ushio and then Tora comes in and saves his ass. EVERY SINGLE TIME. And to someone who as almost died 7+ times during the show you would expect Ushio to develop a bit and start thinking of other ways to go about it, unfortunately he doesnt so it feels like you are in a loop with different youkai to beat in each episode. Even when the story starts to develop he just stays the same.
Villain is just boring, its the same thing we have come to expect from these shows. Pure dark, no motivation for actually doing what he does except for the fact that it is evil. I would talk more about why the villain sucks but it would go into spoiler territory, so ill leave it at its boring.
Tora is the best thing about this show without a doubt, he is entertaining to watch he develops through the show and hes actually interesting. He does have a problem with his power level tho, its all over the place.
Every other character doesn't matter, no really they don't. They aren't even particularly interesting and when one actually is interesting at the start he just becomes a boring one after a few episodes, only there to help Ushio and Tora.
3
Enjoyement: It is clear that i am not enjoying this show, i dropped it once and then caught up to it again, but it was hard to do so because of how uninteresting this show was. If i wasnt watching it while it was airing i wouldnt have given it a second thought (dropping it). This show is something i watch in the evening so that i can focus on other things, because it destroys my desire to watch anime for the rest of the day. Even watching this show sped up like 1.5x the normal speed doesnt help (at least for me), it is a great show to put yourself to sleep with.
I dont know if i should mention that i almost always fall asleep on the second half of the episodes. Because some people will say that the reason i find it uninteresting is because i did sleep through it. Its not like the story is hard to follow, in fact its pretty basic. I did eventually watch the parts i slept through to see if i had missed anything important. This show has the highest score for making me fall asleep which in itself is actually a pretty big deal.

Tl;dr:
+ Tora
+ Art style and animation
+ 80's feel
- Ushio and side characters
- Repetitive monster of the week show
- The actual plot latter on
- Villain
- Character development
- Story
This show might work for some people, especially people who havent seen many shounens of this type. It does have some pretty fun first episodes, which made me stick to it. The second half of the show is just boring. I now know the reason why they kept the episodic gig for so long, because the actual plot is uninteresting compared to it.
Ok so after finishing the last 3 episodes i have to say that, the animation of this show + artstyle works really well for it, unfortunately it still has the problems i listed before (it also seemed the relationship of our mains regressed on the last episodes, and again Tora got an amazing random power for no reason at all). I stand by my word, this show should be skipped because it doesnt do anything special.

So i decided to make a random review to help this site. Don't just judge my review by my score (7). I do not think this anime is weak in fact i think it has very strong points and i really like it.
So this show is about two travel buddies one wolf god and a merchant and definitely the best part about the show is the dialogue and interactions between these two.
The story is not particularly appealing but don't let this fact undermine this great anime, Spice&Wolf is more about the journey than the destination.
Lets go for the reason i gave a 7 instead of
...
the usual 8/9/10 people give. First i use a comparing system for my scores, while the setting (medieval europe) is a favorite of mine i feel like it could have been explored a bit further.
The worst part about this series is how it looks, not in the art style sense but in overall animation quality and stuff. It still works, its not jarring enough to break imersion but even compared to titles of the same year it wasn't great.
While the relationship of the main characters was fantastic i felt like all the other characters where meh.
Another thing i also disliked where the "villains" or the conclusion to each arc (this anime has 2) the disclosure on both felt lacking. The middle part of each arc was definitely the more interesting part because you get a lot of interaction and they actually explain medieval economics a mit
This show is also really mature and approaches its themes very very well, there is no obnoxious fanservice (even though theres a few naked scenes) but in the context of the show it works really well.
All in all if you are on the fence about watching this show i will ask you 2 questions: are you a fan of romance? and do you value character interactions highly? If you answered to any of these yes then you should check out this show
TL;DR read the paragraph before this one
+ strong main cast
+ romantic relantionship
+ interactions between main cast
+ mature approach to stuff
-world not explored enough(imo)
-side characters
-conclusion to each arc (and its respecting "villains")

For starters this 1 episode is part of the Moe/Music genre. Theres not much to talk about since its only 25 minutes but ill make a fast review.
My reviews are normally low in score but as a 20 minute movie it couldn't get a really high score either way.
The art is absolutely gorgeous, it reminded me of Sakura Trick by the same studio. Animation is pretty good except in one scene where the character movements dont feel right.
Background art was absolutely fantastic. And girls where also super cute.
animation/art - 8
for a music genre anime i actually despised the songs they where playing but i believe
...
it to be more out of personal taste than anything
sound - 4
Can't expect much for story, its a girl meets other girl and they try to (spoiler) sing at a concert. I guess it was average, at least it didnt feel clutered.
story - 6
The characters where ok, they can be defined in archtypes but for a 20 minute show its hard to come up with an original character. They where fun to watch tho
Characters - 6
Its fun to watch, not anything ground breaking but if you are a fun of moe/yuri you might love this
Enjoyement - 7
Is it worth the 20 minutes of your life? In my opinion: yes, absolutely even if only for the colors and the liveliness of the art.
