Sirius no Kizuato

very similar to gunnm in many ways, Sayoko is literally just alita, and her body being turned into a cyborg being controlled by this mad scientist guy obsessed with her like desty nova with alita. and her combat abilities are very similar, both series utilizes a combination of martial arts and also mecha combat with military action as well. both series talks about transhumanist concepts and the like. and both alita and Sayoko change from their inital berserker like body into a more agile and smaller nano body later on as well. the only downside is sirius got canceled from what i've seen, the series had a huge second ark with these "fairy" things that are very similar to the artificial intelligence beings we see in alita:last order. it seems to me that both series would have seen very similar developments if sirius was allowed to go on for much longer.

Sensou Kyoushitsu
add

this has to be so far the ONLY thing with actual similarity in terms of feel to world trigger. most of the other recommendations are really stretching it. as world trigger is quite unique in this regard. however Sensou Kyoushitsu or "the bungle call" in my opinion is the sore similar manga to world trigger. despite their difference in setting (one in medieval times and one in modern day) they both share a ton of similarities. for starters both protagonists are physically weak and can't really fight, and both of them join some kind of organization that is currently fighting against invaders. both of their systems have these kind of unique powers and abilities with a lot of tactics behind them, and there are barely any individual fights like in normal shounen, all the battles are large in scale with teams fighting other teams using tactics to exploit their weakness. in this sense they are both similar to sports anime if you think about it, except there isn't any of the "friendship" power bullshit. most of the time they use tactics to win, both protagonists use their brain over braun and command over their team to win large scale battles. also eventually after getting attacked for so long their team eventually starts taking the offensive and the newer arc is about them advancing to enemy territory. also like a sports series both of them have interesting characters that often have backstories related to why they are fighting or within the organization etc and the protagonist has to mediate between different characters. nether protagonists are strong or talented instead having to use tactics to win. both manga feel like playing some rts or esports war game, where its like a team sport with the protagonist being like a commander. the start might be very different but eventually they start becoming similar later on. most of the other recommendations only have similar aesthetics but not similar feel or premise

Bloody Monday
add

This manga is extremely similar to bloody monday, im surprised not many people noticed. I guess both are pretty obscure. Not only do both of these manga have a similar style of the early 2000s. Both series are about hackers. And both series revolve around basicly a deadly or some kind of mutant virus. Both protagonists are hunted by organizations and they have very similar personalities also trying to protect their family/friends. While they are both very creative and go head to head with professional assassins or organizations. The writing and dialogue even the slang is almost identical, i almost felt i was reading a spin off of the other series etc

Mairimashita! Iruma-kun

very similar im surprised iruma author didn't reference medaka box. the character interactions and the absurdist comedy they both use. the art work is a bit similar and casual school life setting with supernatral powers being the status quo, the protagonists both try to rank up their status through school. both protagonist's ambitions are inspired by the student council presidents(amelie for iruma. medaka for zenichi) and both are centered around school clubs, and there are often fights between clubs etc. both have inequalities between students (like abnormals being gifted with extra abilities and have higher status, and higher ranked demons over lower ranked demons). and they voting battles between clubs and voting to see who gets to be the main student counsel etc. in summary protagonist's are both asked to join the student council, and they also help other students do stuff while making friends along the way, the stories are slice of life with short stories inbetween arcs, but both with combat mixed in as well

Grappler Baki
add

Holy shit why has no one noticed the similarities yet. I guess this is more present in last order but alita is literally the futuristic version of baki. In gunnm there are tons of tournaments and fights are always explained in detail. Just like baki which is centres around the same thing. Also both mangas go in depth with ‘fight science’ during battles, techniques are explained in detail and how it effects the body how it is performed etc. Most of the dialogue is also incredibly similar to baki, they usually hype up the fighting using specific techniques like for example ‘having a bystander wet their pants at the mention of *fighters* name to show how strong the opponent alita/baki is going to fight” or having them crush steel flat with their fingers etc etc. Also the art is very similar in that a lot of the people are drawn very grotesque and in a way that makes them menacing or look rugged(how to explain). Fights are very bloody and both of them have peoples bodies torn apart with brutality and blood flys every where. The protagonists characterization is so similar. Both are kind nice and playfull, but when in a fight they reveal their sadistic nature and secretly get enjoyment out of hurting people. They also both create their own unique marital arts from combining a few different styles while fighting masters of specific styles. They are both short and end up fighting opponents much bigger than them. Both of their first love dies. And they learn martial arts with very similar original motivations
