The technical sequel of Gunbuster!!!!!! but the spiritual sequel of FLCL....
Anyway, wile Gunbuster was more of a depressing story, this one is more uplifting and "badass." I would say that it was a prequel to Gurren Lagann in ways such as style and philosophy (I mean just look at Nono).
Over all, this was a more fun show to watch compared to gunbuster and its art was definitely prettier. Also, the director of this show is about 50 million times superior to Anno, as Anno cannot direct his way out of a paper bag.

For Anno's first work, this is pretty damn good... especially when you go on to see what else he made.
Perhaps its a victim of age. but the sound quality of the show was sort of bad (the songs sounded pretty out of tune). Other than that, the characters were pretty fun to get to know. My only real complain about the show is that it was too short. I feel that Anno kind of just went with the flow and didn't have enough time to correctly develop characters such as Noriko's love interest or Coach. Jul 23, 2010
Straight 10s , right across the board. Its rare that a manga could be this great, you might be thinking. Funny thing is.... what you say is true. This ranking only holds true to the first 20 volumes of Bleach. After that, its power level bullshit, plotholes galore, and Kubo trolling himself to the bank each week. Having said that, I still read it every week and get some enjoyment out of it (even if its not GOOD enjoyment).
I say, only read this if you don't mind having your whole soul crushed after being completely enthralled by a witty tale of humor, action, and ... Jul 23, 2010

Bakemonononongatari.......
"Don't stutter when you say my name." Ook... fine.. Alas, this show has everything that an actual intelligent person would consider good: 1: A beautiful art direction (and no, i don't just mean character design). This includes great composition, amazing colors, interesting slide-show concepts, interesting use of real life objects, etc. These are all molded together into a masterpiece known as "Bakemonogatari." ... |
