Both deal with alternate realities and amazing characters. The shows deal with deep questions about over coming obstacles in life to escape an endless stream ... which reality would you chose?

Both anime's plots are from the same time period. Both have to do with Samurai and strong female leads. Similar humor and overall great character driven stories.
