An ardent Anime adventurer apprehends aptly well, whenever Anime is perceived to be in grave peril, there arises out of the depths of an unknown realm hailed, Trigger, a new saviour, that appears on the scene merely to save Anime, again and again and again. So how could there be any alteration this time around. Dungeon Meshi is here to save Anime, and you better believe it so.
Plot: Take, let's say Danmachi or if you prefer SAO and couple it with Shokugeki no Soma or better yet with Gin no Saji, the offspring that this union might bring forth, without the bonk-i-ness, would be Dungeon
...
Meshi, only when properly garnished with a healthy dose of D&D.
The main story is about misadventures of a ragtag group of people in the dungeon, and their crafty ways to sustain themselves. Their interactions and interplay produces fine, simple, enjoyable comedy. There are also surprisingly subtle nuances that make the plot that much better through neat world building.
Characters: Without a doubt the characters are the heart of this Anime. Even someone with a 2 minute screentime seems important in terms of the comedy. As I've reiterated, the interactions among the myriad characters in this Anime bring out the best or it's humour. There is certainly a charm to everyone, and a lot of heart surely has gone into making it so good.
Animation: This is trigger, need we say more. Obviously, this is by far the most fluid and crisp Anime this season. Every scene there is something moving, or doing something, even Solo Leveling would get a run for it's money the way the animation is going. You better be prepared for it to save Anime yet again.
Music: So far the OST hasn't had the time to properly shine, but it has done enough to compliment what is going on screen well. The Opening and Ending credits were both a treat to behold, both in terms of musicality and animation.
Enjoyment: There is enough enjoyment in this for just about anybody. The comedy is on point, the characters are charming, the plot is good, the voice acting is excellent, and above all it is a lot of fun.

There are many questions that have plagued mankind for an uncomfortably prolonged period of time. Who are we, where do we stem from, whither will we fly, who steals the footwear every Tuesday from the Temple, and how on earth does every season a Hentai or two is quietly passed off as an Anime?
Plot: I don't care what anybody else says, this is just a softcore S/M, BDSM play hentai, and not even properly disguised as an Anime. But seriously, if the plot is anything to go by right now, nobody should be surprised if just like Madoka Magica this ends up reshaping the magical
...
girl Anime trope forever (for best or worst, I leave that to to your colourful imagination ladies and gentlemen)
Characters: Heh, what characters, what's even the point of knowing about them, or is there!
Animation: Well colour me surprised that the culture studio is active this season, and they are not animating this. For the kind of thing it is, it has surprisingly good and fluent animation.
Music: Does the job decently.
Enjoyment: This is obviously not for everyone, kids over 18 are strictly prohibited from watching this, lest you seek to scout yourself as a particularly titillating part of some sort of list. Jokes apart, this hen...ahm, thing probably will be subject of most memes this time around.

From the disseminators of CULTURE, we bring you " Drifters in an another world with another set of extraordinary individuals defying logic, reason and sanity with their abilities against..." Or as the plebians like to call it, Ishura.
Plot: I genuinely tried to condense the plot for this review, and believe me the synopsis is probably quite decent in that regard. However, I'm sure you'll understand the dilemma of trying to do that within a few episodes. This is what a particularly messed up child of a thrilling Ménage à trois between Re:Creators, Drifters and Attack on Titan looks like on a healthy dose of heroine,
...
a dash of cocaine and a whole lot of inhalation of Fate-inum.
Characters: Think of something like Fate meets Drifters pirated version, and you won't be far from visualising it. One thing is for sure, there should be enough variety of cool characters to choose from here. What they do from here though is something that only time may tell.
Animation: From the foremost authorities of culture, I'm afraid there is hardly any if at all this time around. And to put particularly nasty chilli flakes on the wound, the animation isn't particularly good, a whole lot of the 2nd tier jarring CGI, not even bargain bin budget Sakuga, no fluidity, and not nearly enough cool still shots to salvage it. For reference, even High School DxD Hero and Labyrinth Isekai looks a lot better than this. Disappointed here for sure.
Music: The music is decent, probably seems better for the visuals that it accompanies. The opening is quite good, though again plagued by a subpar animation. Overall, decent, but nothing to remember by.
Enjoyment: The animation aside, there is probably enough wildness to enjoy it so far. I've personally enjoyed it because of how insane it is, though when the novelty wears off it'd be interesting to observe how far the plot and characters can carry it. Fingers crossed, but cautiously so.

Well, after last season let's get something very, very clear, there is no point comparing the Anime to the Light Novel. Clearly both are their own separate entities. For instance, one of the most hype moments in the first part of the light novel was the rooftop scene, which as you'd expect DOESN'T exist in the Anime. So does many many many, and I can't emphasize this enough many key and hype moments. As for purely a standalone Anime, it's quite decent though. Anime onlys will probably find it much more enjoyable. Let's just not compare this to the source though.
Plot and Characters: There is
...
nothing new to tell here since most of you who have followed thus far are pretty much aware of who's who and what's going on. Though, one notable thing to observe is the long anticipated crossing of paths between Ayanokoji and Sakayanagi, probably would be quite the watch.
Animation and music: The animation quality is decent, probably slight improvements here and there, a more polished product as a whole. As for music there isn't much to talk about save the opening and ending credits, which are again decent. Not much to complain here.
Enjoyment: If you have enjoyed it thus far, there is much more of the same in store for you.

From the world renowned Anime Harem Academy, popularly known as "AHA!!!" which produced such graduates as farmer extraordinaire Hiraku Michio, last male standing Mizuhara Reito, the god of negation Touma Kamijou, reincarnated magnetism Kazuto Hongou, shady teacher magister Negi Springfield, god of conquest Katsuragi Keima, Oppai Dragon emperor Hyoudou Issei, your neighborhood friendly spirit whisperer Shido Itsuka and many many more, comes the newest and freshest able bodied graduate Aijo Rentaro, fated to be courted by a hundred ladies of myriad shapes, ages, features and personalities.
Plot: The title is the plot of this Anime appropriately summarised as briefly as possible. Now if you thought that
...
was hilarious, you're in for a treat from the very onset of this one. From divine mistakes to mistakes of divine proportions, this is a ridiculous ride of fun and funny with occasional flourishes of light dramatic moments.
Characters: The protagonist at the beginning is someone who just can not catch a break, so much so he ends up scoring the unholy, unwanted, unrequited century. Though unlike most other Harem protagonists, he is neither as dense as a black hole, nor as dumb as the asteroid that was a bit rude to the Jurassic inhabitants.
And then there is the Harem, which if anything plays about every single archetype in the book. Almost every kind of trope is on show as well. Not to forget the Gods either, they play a key role often in the story, as well as the students and inhabitants of the locality.
Animation: This is not the Anime for Sakuga connoisseurs. However, here you'll be amply entertained with gag and humour animation as much as you want. It is filled to the brim with low effort meme faces, random allusions, and myriad references. This sort of style suits what Hundred Girlfriends is really well, and you'll be hard pressed to find someone who finds it difficult to palate.
Music: Again, the music mostly blends well with what is shown on screen. There is nothing much to talk about it, the music does it's job and enhances the effect other things have.
Enjoyment: Quite honestly, The Hundred Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You is perhaps the most funny and humorous Anime of this season. You'd have to try really hard and possess a special amount of obnoxious pretentiousness to not find enough here to entertain you. This comes with a glowing recommendation as a certified laugh fest, have fun while it is here to entertain you.

The Kingdoms of Ruin appears to be quite a surprise so far. It seems to have a decent plot, characters with proper motivation, decent animation, decent sound design, great voice cast and so on. Though, the thing remains to be seen whether it can do anything constructive with it. For the lack of a better word, at the moment this Anime can only called EDGY, now whether that becomes Akame ga Kill kind of edgy, or AOT kind remains to be seen.
Plot: The synopsis adequately instructs you about the Anime, there isn't much to add apart from that without delving into spoiler territory. There are
...
two clear sides, humanity and, witches and allies. While humanity in this particular case is portrayed as the evil side, witches are shown to be the bearer of good. Now, once that is established, then begins the plot proper, as a ruthless witch hunt is initiated by humans, and our protagonist, who is also a human, though he grows up under the loving care of a witch. It is interesting to see where it can go from here, as a certain AOT also began in quite similar(similar, not same) fashion, so did Akame ga Kill by the way.
Having said that, it all depends on how certain things are handled. There are things that can seriously ruin the interest in the plot. For instance, if the show ends up treating death like Dragon Ball does, I'm afraid most of the seriousness will be done then and there, and so will probably be the interest. It can similar if treads the Terra Formers route, or Gantz route, or even Akame ga Kill route. For another, events must have consequences, if huge things go down, and there is almost zero consequence, again, the whole premise falters hugely. Since the Anime wants to be that kind of an Anime which treats itself seriously, the serious things must be taken seriously, or it will only gore itself to death with it's own edge.
Characters: Apart from the protagonist, a few of the main cast has already been shown, and so far one could be cautiously optimistic about them. I'd hesitate to call the protagonist edgy just because of the way acts. Is there motivation behind it, if so how much, is that enough for him to be who he is. For instance, a pretentious angsty snowflake can call Eren Yeager, or Lelouch, or Light Yagami, or even Johan edgy, but does that make it so?
Again, one must ask, whether one note, typical archetypes can be considered proper characters, because at the moment this Anime is ripe with them. One can not be simple enough to have only one mode, that's the mark of a typical flat character. I'm afraid flat characters never really make for good stories. On the other hand, it still early days, there is enough time for at least some of them to become interesting.
Animation: The frames that are animated are decent, though one could hope for a little more fluidity going forward. The action scenes looked really well done, the static frames were neatly drawn, the dynamic frames could have done with a little more speed, but that'll be nitpicking. Thus far, a good job done by the studio. Keep up the good work.
Music: Apart from the opening and ending themes, I'm afraid the music has been barely noticeable. Which perhaps is both a good and bad thing. Good because, it compliments well what's occuring in the screen, so much so that it immerses one better into the Anime. Bad perhaps, because like most other Anime, even the better ones, the music will be forgotten as soon as the Anime season concludes.
Enjoyment: I've been intrigued enough to give it a chance. Though, I'd also say to sally forth cautiously. The point is how many times have we seen some random Anime have a moderately decent first arc within a few episodes, only to fizzle out in the end rather unceremoniously. I can merely hope it continues to be decent enough with cautious optimism.

By and large, Spy x Family has been the most family friendly, entertaining Anime airing for quite a while now. Whether you have a two year old or someone two short of approaching a century, you can safely introduce them to the medium of Anime via Spy x Family, and expect a positive, cheerful response. It's not a mere fluke, how very popular it is.
Plot: Will agent Twilight be able to infiltrate his way even deeper, will the little esper be able to score another Stella badge, will Thorn Princess be able to juggle her surgical appointments appropriately and her appropriate appointments surgically, because the
...
fate of the world depends on them being good. However, can they juggle saving the world, while also consolidating their make believe family. That's the brief of what there is to the plot, though well garnished with a healthy amount of humour, charm and heart. An all-round package of entertainment.
Characters: All the main players that have been introduced are back as they were with a few notable new inclusions. The soul of the Anime has been the hilarious interpersonal exchanges between the characters, preposterous exchanges and at times chaotic mess they tend to create. It is also this facet of the characters that endears them more to us afterall.
Animation: Spy x Family had a very consistent and constantly fluid animation quality throughout last season. This season is no different in comparison. Cloverworks and Wit Studio both have a distinct style and charm to their work, and very rarely is that off target. Afterall how many times can there be a promise that never lands. Like almost all of their previous works, out of nowhere would come a scene that's for sure to take your breath away, this season also has those things in spades.
On a separate note, wow, what an absolute blast that opening animation was. Last season too, Spy x Family had two great openings, but the one for this season is for sure the best of the bunch. What an absolute carnival of colours and visuals that was, begining with a wonderfully comic book-ish tone and then suddenly bursting into some seriously fluid silhouette motion. Some of the best of the season so far. Also let's not forget the excellent ending sequence as well, complimenting the opening act very nicely.
Music: The goofy tone of the music suits the show really well. It enhances the overall effect and humour of the Anime by a lot, and makes it much better. The atmosphere is nicely set by the music, which neatly compliments the scene whenever and however it is necessary. The opening and the ending, already mentioned for the stellar animation they contain, also deserve their just plaudits for the music as well.
Enjoyment: As have been mentioned before, Spy x Family is an all-round family friendly Anime that can be enjoyed by just about anybody under the sky. It is extremely difficult to not find anything worth enjoying in here, you'd have to be a special kind of snowflake to not find your fill of happiness and satisfaction from here. But hey, what do I know!

The only word that seems to accurately describe what Undead Unluck is, is FUN. And if what the signs are indicating at, is observed carefully, not mindless fun either. Quite honestly, it was nigh impossible to take the eyes off screen for even a split second during the first episode. And it should be enough to suggest how good of an opening it was, as it keeps building upon that, one episode at a time.
Plot: The title is the plot, and you know it is. If still you're not convinced, read the synopsis, which more or less describes the first episode adequately. Though, it
...
does not prepare you for the absolute hilariousness that is the episode itself. Undead Unluck is a chaotic amalgamation of comedy, action, intrigue and entertainment.
As the episodes pile up one by one, the more interesting it starts to get. However, don't take the ridiculousness of this Anime at face value, because it is hiding some major things which looks like betraying the tone. If the ending theme is anything to go by, it might not be all gags and jokes for much longer.
Secret organisations, people with unnatural abilities, strange happenings, eerie phenomena, and a lot more, almost reminiscent of the battle tested Shounen formula.
Characters: The main duo has a nice chemistry between them, though it seems a little rushed at times. The physical comedy that is generated by their interaction is not something revolutionary, but it is tried and tested, and never fails to amuse when done properly. As more of the cast is slowly revealed, you get the feeling it is almost gearing up to be a proper Shounen.
Animation: Sometimes, it seems as if David Production don't know when to stop. Without a doubt this is by far the best animated show of the season. The very first big fight on the second episode has elements from a particular Mob Psycho fight, a particular Jujutsu Kaisen fight, and a particular My Hero Academia fight. And, each of these fights were what established those franchises as what they would eventually become.
Then there are sharp and crisp backgrounds, which add a nice hue to the action. Movement looks so smooth, probably pointing towards the amount of in between frames. It does seem that the animators have brought their A game to the fore. It's never a surprise when David Production are involved though.
The opening theme has some really, really amazing animations. It truly deserves a place as one of the best animated openings of the season. While the ending theme, well, it doesn't fit at all with the overall vibe, and that only makes the show better. Because the ending being what it is, you can safely expect novelty from its original vibe real soon.
Music: The background music is decent and does it's job. It serves the purpose of enhancing the experience, as you'd expect from it. Unless you pull off a You Say Run, most Shounen OSTs never get much attention from the greater part of the fanbase. Of course, if you have a Yutaka Yamada or Shiro Sagisu or perhaps Yuki Hayashi or Sawano, then that's a different matter.
The opening and ending themes are a whole different beast though. They assert themselves, and make you take notice. Fortunately, Undead Unluck has two of those, and they deserve a special mention.
Enjoyment: Apart from a certain crowd, that almost always goes ballistic whenever something new and interesting comes, everybody else will generally find it extremely entertaining and amusing. There is something to enjoy for almost everybody, and there's a lot more in store still. So I can only give it a wholehearted recommendation.

Goblin Slayer used to be the bar before Redo of the Healer, and believe me it was not an one to be proud of. Having said that, it is your typical average dark fantasy with an overpowered protagonist. Apart from the first episode of the first season, which really became infamous, there is honestly very little to talk about.
Plot: Just a Goblin Slayer doing some goblin slaying, that's the plot. If I remember correctly volume 3 and 4 of the light novel got skipped, so if you're confused, even after watching the movie., that should about sum up PLOT for you.
Characters: Not much to talk
...
about here. You see all the familiar faces, and then add Inclusion A and B and so on, and that's that.
Animation: Change of studio, though similar level of work. Perhaps a little change here or there, though not much to make a drastic difference either.
Music: Appropriate for what it is, nothing much to talk here either. Decent opening by Mili, and ending by Yuki Nakashima.
Enjoyment: If you like your fantasy with only Gore, Violence, Nudity and decadence, this is it for you. Unfortunately, there isn't much past that. Though, this should have a niche for itself, just not for me.

It's surprising how popular Shield Hero is on MAL, and yet there is an uncanny radio silence almost everywhere. The second season was such an underwhelming act afterall, it really did a huge damage to it's own reputation. Having said that, the third season seems to have mended, if nothing else, significantly in the Animation department.
Plot: The plot picks up more or less from where it left last season, with Naofumi and co heading to the colosseum. This is where the original web novel picks up again, after the light novel original arcs of Spirit Turtle and Otherworld. The general consensus was that they
...
were poorly developed, and ended poorly, and this is where it becomes good again. This is where the world starts to become more nuanced, at least that's the impression it seems to give. That's all I can say without resorting to major spoilers.
Characters: This new season will introduce a whole host of new characters, again merging both the web novel and the light novel. Knowing what's coming, it's better not to say much more regarding anything. Probably, some better developed characters compared to the previous season.
On a seperate note, following in the famous footsteps nurse Joy, officer Jenny, the overseers Cervello and more, prepare for the shady slave dealer...
Animation: From the look of it, there seems to be a visible improvement on this front. At least, so far there hasn't been anything terribly out of place. It'd seem following Happy Marriage, Kinema Citrus have at the very least become as competitive as the big guns are right now. The have got their mojo back.
Music: The background music does it's job in the background, as competently and credibly as is needed. The opening looks and sounds really cool with it's apparent K-pop-ish vibe, almost reminiscent of one of the Black Clover openings. The ending in contrast sounds soothing with that heartbeat movement. Nothing to complain here.
Enjoyment: If you've braved the second season and managed to come this far, there is no reason not to find some enjoyment here. The thing to ponder however is, whether this get's better and better with each episode. Because as of now, nobody is really talking about it with great enthusiasm. Fingers crossed though.
