I'll start off by saying this anime is slow, I'm talking crippled snail kind of slow. So if you can't deal with slow anime, then you're best making a U turn and leaving, this anime is not for you.
Now onto the actual review.
Story:
The story is a fairly standard "Stranded in a fantasy world, we must survive.", however there is a lot of time where nothing happens to drive the plot forward, but instead shows the daily lives of the characters. There are of course action sequences, the killing of orcs and goblins and such, much like you've come to expect from any kind of action/fantasy
...
anime. The overall story seems to be mainly driven by the characters, with the overarcing story taking a back seat in order for the characters to take the spotlight.
Art:
The art is phenomenal. If you were to completely disregard the story and characters, and you just watched this for the landscape shots I think it'd be worth your time. The backdrops all seems to have been domne in water colour or a similar medium which is very interesting.
Sound:
I had to go back and watch a few episodes to get a feel for the audio since nothing stuck out for me, but going back and purposefully listening out for the sound made me realise that everythingthat needed to be there was there. The audio for armour pieces clinking together was there, the audio for chess pieces being moved and so on, attention to detail was everywhere with audio. The background music was also good and built on the athmosphere of wthe scenes where it was used.
Characters:(This will be split into two parts, Visual character design and character design.)
Visually, the characters are all well designed, each having thier own style and quirks. Most of the gear used by the characters isn't hugely outlandish and unwieldable. A little thing I liked was that they actually carry their gear, for example Moguzo carries a large backpack while the party is out adventuring, it's a small thing but it shows that they're out in the wilds for a few days at least. There are no fairly generic cut'n'paste secondary characters either, even the secondary characters have been drawn well, with them all also having their own styles of gear and clothing.
Character development and the design of the personalities for the character is hands down the best part of this series. The characters are very well developed, even down to things that they do in their spare time. All the characters feel rather unique too, while watching I never thought "Oh look, another Kirito." or "That guy reminds me of Naruto.", all the characters have very definite edges to their personalities and habits.
You spend so much time with the main party, just seeing them do the menial everyday tasks people do that you can't help but connect with them, even though you're just seeing Moguzo buy a helmet or seeing Ranta fishing, you start to realise that these people have lives besides going out and killing orcs and dragons and this series does an excellent job of building them in that way.
You also see how the characters emotionally develop as the series progresses, alongside their abilities as adventurers this really drew me in since with other "Trapped in a fantasy world." anime that I've seen I didn't see a whole lot of development, so this was a nice change. Our protagonist also has a pretty interesting way of looking at things, so his internal monologue has some good moments of sarcasm.
Something that particularly made me happy with the characters is that a 'small cut' will seriously hurt, and put them out of action, and losing blood is a somethig that can incapacitate them ((Looking at you Bleach)), and that the main party has no idea how to fight when they first enterthis fantasy world, as most of us wouldn't have any idea with how to start with magic or sword play except 'Hit them with the sharp bit'.
Enjoyment:
As mentioned earlier, if you don't like slow anime then you won't enjoy the story progression, as whole episodes pass by with nothing happening; if however you like slice of life, and you enjoy seeing the characters go about their lives in this new fantasy world they're in, then you will really enjoy this anime.

This is my first review, so I'll welcome any constructive feedback.
STORY:
The overall setting of the story is in a city known as Ergastalum which is ran by various gangs/mafias, and the police have little control of what goes on. As you can imagine the city is rife with prostitution, drugs, and murder, all the standard stuff for a mafia ran city. If you want a tale that ends in a happy ending with rainbows and glitter then this is certainly not for you. Overall the tone is pretty grim, if you've seen it,(Which I will assume so since both are targeted at very similar audiences)
...
think "Black Lagoon with superpowers". The story pacing seems rather good with a good balance on pushing the story forward and character development.
ART:
The art was well done but fairly generic, likewise with the animation. I did enjoy the backgrounds depicting how run down the city was and how the colours were subdued; it was very rare to see a vivid red or blue, with a larger focus on black, brown and grey as standard colours. Visually the character design was solid too, no generic, pink haired, tsunderes. We instead get a great variety of character models, which all vary without being too flamboyent. A little thing I loved regarding the art, is that the weapons used arent so unfathomably outlandish that they couldn't be used, a katana is just that, a set of short swords is just two short swords and nothing else; While this may not mean anything to some people it was just something I liked that they kept things simple here to keep with the tone of the show.
SOUND:
Sound didn't stand out really, I didn't ever catch myself listening out for the OST. In regards to sound effects, they were solid and even without speaking Japanese myself, I found the voice acting for the deaf character was spot on. The intro was damn good though.
CHARACTERS:
I spoke earlier in the art section abput the visual character designs, and how they were well varied without seeming outlandish, this is eaqually as true for the characters themselves and their personalities and quirks. I particularly liked how the characters with superpowers (Called 'Twilights' in the anime), are lacking something in exchange for gaining their powers, for example some are deaf, some don't physically age. The reason I brought this up is because so far it has stopped any of those "I'm going to lose, better power up to SS15/Hyper-Bankai/Mega-demon-fox-mode!" moments, by giving said characters a handicap in a particular area. Characters that don't posses superpowers aren't left out in terms of development though, with flashbacks showing us that many of them have dark pasts and while I feel that some of the supporting characters could have been developed further it was only a 12EP season, so the overall balance was good and the main characters were developed enough for me to feel invested in.
OVERALL:
All in all I feel that 'Gangsta.' was a solid entry to the line up of that season, I had no arguments with it except that there wasn't more of it and I feel that it would have benefitted from having a 24 episode season provided that it was 24EPs of what we had in the first 12. I believe that if you liked Black Lagoon or Jormungand, you'll probably enjoy this series, the story is heading in an interesting direction and should it get a second season you'll definitely have something to look forward to in the future.
