Story - Interesting and viable, though could have been presented better. It is compensated by the ultimate plot twist is absolutely brilliant and jaw dropping--twisting everything you knew and loved about Macross on it's head.
Art - CG, general design and concept are beautiful but there are many animation errors and inconsistencies (ex. Bogue Con-Vaart having 3 runes in Mission 17, various instances of distorted frames, incorrect angles). It should be noted how absolutely remarkable the designs are for Delta's VF31-Siegfried & SV-262 Draken III. I personally watched Delta for the music, but now I've grown such a fondness for mechs too.
Sound - Delta far
...
exceeds it's predecessors sound wise. It shoots EVERY other Macross series out of the water (including you, F). In addition to two full albums of Walkure music, it was accompanied by an absolutely phenomenal soundtrack and astounding tunes that get you hooked instantly. You won't be able to stop yourself from humming and tapping along. I STILL get chills from re-watching scenes emotional scenes accompanied by these well planned out songs.
Character - Delta's characters are unique, captivating and well-balanced. Crowd favorites like Freyja, Mikumo and Kaname are hard for many viewers not to love, and others to grow appreciation for. It should be noted that a certain character's progression suffers as a result of poor planning but it doesn't impact the enjoyment of the series.
Enjoyment - I began this series about five weeks after it had been airing. Mission 01 was one of the best pilot episodes of any anime I have seen. I was hooked by Mission 03. Every week following, I spent on the edge of my seat waiting for the next episode. I have never been so absorbed and involved in a series prior to date. There are too many things to love and cherish about Delta.
Overall - My initial reaction to the Delta finale along with many other reviewers was disappointment. Most common complaints are, "too quick, too many loose ends, not enough combat scenes, and poor conflict resolution".
Let me preface this review by stating the following:
- There is heavy evidence shown that Delta was intended to be 13 episodes + a movie.
- A certain character wasn't originally written into the show; with little time, making other characters and plot advances suffer.
It's unfair to entirely fault a series with so much potential and so many other things going for it; just because a handful of sponsors wave their money around leashing the creators.
What most people fail to realize is that Delta works on it's own as a solid introductory piece into the world of Macross; aimed more towards those who are big into music & romance. The military, mecha component, aerial dogfights and space combat are lacking compared to earlier series like SDF and Zero, but it's a good place to introduce beginners into the series. Any piece of the Macross series can be watched at any given time, without needing to watch the ones before it, however Delta is different in that it acts as an appetizer. A tidbit of what the Macross Saga IS, and.. the main course is still yet to come. While Mecha is a very successful genre in Japan, people don't really give it a chance elsewhere. Magazines like Newtype highly received Frontier, but many others didn't give it the time of day from the genre alone. Delta was a smart way to get new viewers into the Macross Saga, by influencing them by showing them the charming parts of what Macross has to offer; while working on next series for the upcoming decade.
Delta is a fun-lighthearted, emotional ride as a bridge between the galaxy--and it is far from over.

I noticed there were quite a lot of high rated reviews and some others that had a very similar reaction to what I did, I think it's important to conclude that your enjoyment of this series will depend on what you're looking for in an anime. Please remember to check out the genres of this series as well as the intend age group before starting.

I saw the first episode of lovely complex and was completely jaw to the floor. This is EXACTLY what I didn't want in an anime. Fast paced, no subtleties, annoying main characters. Humor which takes away from the development of the
...
show. I understand the humor was supposed to be funny but I didn't really laugh as the jokes were bare-faced and flat. Nothing smart and cunning or carved out.
It's an extremely typical shoujo, all the 'friends' were hollow and just for show. The rivals are there for the sake of jealousy--and let's be real we've seen this done way too many times. It's not healthy, and it needs to stop. The development of 'love' relies on the friends pushing the two main love interests along. The writing forces the plot along only with these events, sports festival, fire works festival, christmas, valentines, birthday and THREE love rivals all withing the first 7 episodes. No regular, healthy progression of love plays forth. None of the characters developed at all, not even the main ones. I imagine this style was newly emerging and 'good for it's time' but it's definitely nothing special now.
Long story short:
The show doesn't take itself seriously, and so it's difficult for the viewer to sympathize with characters emotions when it's clear the viewership was intended for those of a younger audience.
* If you're a teenager with little to no love experience, who enjoys characters with no real motives and no development in an over-arching story, you'll enjoy Lovely Complex.
*If you're seeking something more well thought out, detailed and deep love story, I would not recommend this anime.

Upon first glance, I assumed this manga would be similiar to Yumeiro Patissiere. A cute shoujo about pastries and maybe a hint of love? NOPE! Not even close. While it holds a bakery theme, there are so many more apsects to this series that I would never even have guessed. This manga has surprised me so much in just 13 chapters, alone!
STORY - The story starts off with young 6 year old Komomo, a stuck-up brat whose family is forunate. She's the princess of her family, and gets anything she wants. But what she treasures most, is the head chefs son--his pastries at least!
...
Young Komomo often bullied him as a child to make these pastries. Years pass, Natsu & his father leave Komomo's home to France. In the meantime, Komomo's family goes bankrupt, and she is sent to live with family in a normal home, and even work a part-time job?! With Komomo's attitude, how will this work out? Soon she learns that Natsu will be moving back to Japan the next day, and is seeking her out for revenge!
ART - The art style is perfectly fitting for what need be. I didn't personally find anything about it special or super attractive, but I'm sure fans of Minami Maki will be very pleased.
CHARACTERS - Komomo is the spoiled princess of a rich family, that is until they grow bankrupt and she is set to living a life of a commoner. While she is given many chances with part-time jobs, her obnoxious side and inability to lift a muscle gets he kicked out of the house and out of all her jobs. With nothing left but to depend on Natsu, despite his harsh treatings, she soon learns her place. While her personality comes off as annoying very early one given the right circumstances you will come to understand her more and she will grow on you. After time, her attitude mostly drops, though she knows nothing about the world, and is plenty naive. She never acted out of malice, but due to the misguided belief that she should have everything she wants--because she had always had this. With Natsu's help, she learns basic communication, friendship, understanding, and soon maybe even a little harsh love?
**Natsu** A strange one. He put up with Komomo's atttitude as a kid, and would always bake pastries for her. His pastries were often thrown out by the maids and other chefs due to being burnt or not up to the standard set by the household, but Komomo always felt they were the best. When he comes back to Japan, he welcomes Komomo to his home and bakery to help her out by allowing her a place to stay and a job, when she has nowhere else to go. Don't be fooled by his kindness, he has an awful sadist quality of always wanting to bully or make Komomo cry. Despite this, he always tries to do the best for her, and guide her about the world.
ENJOYMENT/OVERALL - I was ready to drop this series by the third chapter. Hating both the beginning personalities of Natsu & Komomo. Nobody really wants to read something when they can't feel in the place of the characters. You get tired of the brat, and even though she may deserve to be bullied back, it's not something you enjoy seeing long and run out. And this series will give you just that. As time progresses, Komomo drops the spoiled princess act, and slowly learns to understand some human communication. While she still is ignorant, her personality in tact with Natsu's insane lust to bully her and watch her facial expressions is just demented. The greatest thing in the series is the relationship between Natsu & Komomo. The comedy between them, the weird S&M vibe, and the slight tinge of romance. With their extreme personalities in perfect balance of eachother you'll come to love the demented relationship between the two. While the series still has ways to go, only being on the 13th chapter, I hope you choose to give it a chance.
