We're looking at two military/espionage action dramas. Both shows are more serious in tone and despite the science fiction elements still quite high in realism. The short runtime is densely packed with several layers of plot and they're brought together and to a conclusion by the end. There is a lot of overlap with the themes: reconnaissance, espionage and factions trying to outsmart each other. There is an ongoing military conflict in the background. Hacking, artificial intelligence and mind control. Cooperation and competition between humans and machines. Characters: we have a coolheaded, sometimes cold blooded seeming main character with some hints of darker things in the past, less adept with human interactions than most, but better at accepting artificial intelligence. A best bro coworker who is more down to earth with a point-blank charme to him who deeply cares about the main character. An older superior with a distant aura who later proves to actually be deeply invested and pulling the right strings. Artwork and animation are outstanding for the time. 2d animation tastefully blended in with computer graphics. The world is detailed and immersive. Both shows, despite being densely packed with a lot of things happening take some time to build up their unique atmosphere. Here's the major two differences: Yukikaze doesn't nearly have as good of a soundtrack as Ghost in the Shell and it's obviously also not nearly as well known. So in case I was able to pique your interest (and you're even able to source it somewhere), please give Yukikaze a try!

Is the girl sus? The girl is sus, right! I mean, is she even fully human or maybe something else, something supernatural? I have some puzzle to solve here. It seems to be somehow connected to my past. If only I could remember...
