Both are Kingdom Building Isekai, with a focus on revitalizing a destitute nation that deal with similar conflicts and harems with the same end point. The difference of each Light Novel ranges from how they deal with the "transported to another world" mechanic, military tactics tactics used, the sheer amount of allowable brutality, the level of politics & economics and how the technological revolutions are pretty varied.

Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu

Novels where the MC gets Isekai'd, into a desolate part of a fantasy world. Only to end up befriending a lot of non-human locals and creating an ever expanding civilization, as the Overpowered Overlord. Tsuki ga Michibiku's... MC is a fairly ruthless "ugly" human. Tensei shitara Slime's... MC is a lovable Slime.

They follow pretty much the same "adoptive young father" premise and their source materials even go the same route. But... Usagi Drop is set in modern day Japan with a typical Office working MC. UchiMusume happens to be set in a generic Fantasy world and has an obnoxiously annoying MC.

The only 2 Isekai Fantasy novels I've come across, whereby the MC and his Harem form a believable family unit. No pointless meanderings & misunderstandings. -Mushoku Tensei- is more Action Adventure, with an MC able to hold his own and with the best illustrations of its genre. -How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom- is more about Kingdom Building, with an MC more focused on the pen than the sword.

Kumo desu ga, Nani ka?
|
Two Isekai novels where the MC reincarnates into an RPG-like Fantasy world, as 1 of the weakest monster; with skills, levels & evolution trees. Both worlds have multiple other Japanese citizens who have also reincarnated into the world and the novels have snappy comedy. Main difference being... Reincarnated as a Slime ... More Kingdom Building, with a large community feel. So I'm a Spider ... A lot more Action Adventure oriented, with the MC going solo most of time.

I would not have thought that these 2 LN were similar upon first glance, but... Overlord Isekai set in a RPG-like Fantasy world | Immense World-Building | Transfered as Inhuman Elder Litch character | Male MC starts Overpowered | Lawful Evil | Huge Repertoire of Skills | Follows Multiple Character Perspectives | MC delves in Complicated Machinations | Great Character Sheets So I'm a Spider, So What? Isekai set in a RPG-like Fantasy world | Great World-Building | Reincarnated as Inhuman Lesser Spider | Female MC eventually becomes OP | Lawful Evil | Huge Repertoire of Skills | Follows Multiple Character Perspectives | MC delves in Complicated Machinations | Great Monster Encyclopedia
