As the story progresses, it becomes clear that the weight of the story is rapidly increasing. As the goals are slowly drifting in sight, the people struggling to achieve them are reaching a point of no return. The scales are higher than ever.
Admittedly, the story is not perfect, and I can see why some people might dislike the way the show ended. I personally thought the fit was very applicable to the more mature take on the Fate universe. In general the story improved throughout the length of the entirety of the show, and this is very noticeable when you compare this season to the
...
first. If you managed to stick with the premise and plotlines the first season presented, you are sure to follow the second season even better.
Rather than introducing new plotlines or characters, the show builds upon what the first season established. All in all this makes it a very pleasant continuation to watch, and as the intensity is turned up slowly throughout this season, there is a clear sense of both purpose and dread to be found within the character cast.
Speaking of the characters; They are satisfyingly similar to their counterparts in the first season. As the story progresses towards a heavier plot, so do the characters, which can be seen with an increased sense of purpose and determination. This purpose can be conflicting, and there are many times where the characters are faced with dilemma's and concepts of moral ambiguity.
The more 'physical' appearance of the show has not changed compared to the first season. The art is still excellent, the sound (In both OST and design) stays amazing throughout the shows' lifespan.
I'd say that if you enjoyed the first season of Fate/Zero, there is no doubt in my mind that you will also heavily enjoy this season as well. An excellent experience, and surely to stay confined within my list of favourites.
Thank you for your time, dear valued reader, and hopefully you enjoyed my written experiences concerning "Fate/Zero 2nd Season".

There are many shows that can captivate based upon the sound design and the artstyle. I must admit that simply that alone was enough to make me start watching Fate/Zero. I was in for a pleasant surprise, and the show surpassed my initial expectations by a huge margin.
I was fairly unaware about anything concerning the Fate universe when I started watching, and anyone that has started to explore this universe must've gone through the same. The story and premise start out utterly confusing; Characters are introduced left and right, rules are set, lines are drawn. At this point, an episode or two into the show,
...
I was unsure if I would ever have the pleasure of understanding what was actually going on.
As I continued watching, I started to realize that it actually all slowly started to connect. The introductions were simply necessary to establish the founding principles on which this world rests, and I encourage anyone that feels slightly confused to continue watching for at least a few more episodes. The excellent artstyle and satisfying combat alone are already fairly entertaining in and of itself.
As the story started to intertwine with the wide cast of characters, it really started to pick up in pace, and became a blast to watch. Speaking of the character cast, it's what drives the shows plot, apart from its bizzare but intriguing premise.
The characters all have a very distinct set of morals and goals, and they all strive to achieve these goals in one way or another. It's where my founding love for Kiritsugu Emiya came from; The shady guy apparent in my profile picture. The characters are mature and make decisions based upon their own steadfast ideals and necessities, which makes for a very entertaining show. It's almost as if you're watching a giant game of chess, played by multiple teams. They can be unrelenting and unforgiving, making for some very satisfying scenes and pieces of dialogue.
The artstyle and the combat scenes provided by it, are, up until this day, still one of very best in the anime industry. The fluidity, the edges, the pacing of the frames; It's all marvelous. This is improved by an excellent and intense sound design, that makes you feel the impact of blows and shots in a way not many shows are able to do.
All backed up by a truly epic soundtrack, that gives a sense of scale when it wants to, and a breeze of emotion when it needs to, provide the show with a strong backbone.
All in all, a show that is most definitely worth a watch if you are either a fan of action or someone who enjoys a mature cast of characters, that stay true to their ideals and initial goals. I will continue this review of the entirety of Fate/Zero when I have to time to cover the second season, which maintains the high ground the first season layed out.
Thank you for your time, dear valued reader, and hopefully you enjoyed my written experiences concerning "Fate/Zero".

And so I conclude my journey with this marvelous show. The second season of Code Geass takes up much of the strengths and the few weaknesses of its predecessor, and overall manages to captivate me, the viewer, once again.
As the show continues from the incredibly tense cliffhanger the first season provided us with, the plot doesn't take long in ramping up the stakes once again, after introducing us to the new circumstances of our MC and how the plot now, yet again, revolves around him.
Much of the flaws in this season are eerily similar to its predecessor, which in turn means that there aren't really
...
that many flaws worth mentioning. In general the choices made by the various characters are a lot more coherent, and you can understand the sentiment behind most choices fairly easily. There is still an apparent power-loop when we're talking about the weapons utilized in the show, but this can generally be glossed over, and doesn't necessarily impact the story in any bad way.
You could argue that a certain explanation of power and events that took place during the entirety of the show was overly abstract. I personally feel as if there was no other way to properly explain it all in a realistic manner, and although I don't necessarily feel much for it, I certainly don't despise it. I think the show managed to handle the conceptual terms of morality and ambiguity quite well, even if you have to pay very close attention to follow what was going on during this segment.
The characters are fairly similar, and although there are new introductions, most of the cast is present yet again. Character development does steadily continue, but most characters seemed to have reach a set point where they adhere to their ideals and principles, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Especially since the story continues to put more pressure on everything and everyone, and seeing these ideals crack or survive by means of a pyrrhic victory is a wondrous experience.
The story progresses, the plotlines are moving, all is happening at a rapid pace that seems to be going faster and faster. Roads are ended and points of no return are entered as the final few episodes slowly drift towards the pinnacle of endings that I've had the pleasure of encountering in any show I've ever watched. Where the first season ended at a high note, the second season delivers us viewers with one of the finest, most coherent, and utterly satisfying endings that I've witnessed.
All in all this is one of the finest shows I've had the pleasure of experiencing. There is so much worthy of praise here, be it the soundtrack that keeps delivering, the character cast, the plotlines and that marvel of an ending. If you've enjoyed the first season of Code Geass, then there's no doubt in my mind you'll enjoy this one even more. A true masterpiece.

As someone who tends to be shallow when it comes to impressions, my first glance at Code Geass so many years ago, was, as I'm ashamed to admit, unfounded. An artstyle that didn't attract me, Mechas heavily being involved and an incredibly large cast of characters all led me to postpone watching this masterpiece. The magnum opus of studio Sunrise, and in my humble opinion one of the defining anime that revolves around a story that is so well-paced, intertwined with the character cast and captivating, that it deserves to be praised as much as it is.
The first season of this incredible story starts out
...
fairly fast, and action and the core concepts of this show are introduced to us viewers within the first episode. Once the stakes are set and the driving force behind the MC is discovered, the plot slowly starts to take form. Careful not to introduce us viewers to too many concepts and characters at once, the pacing picks up ever so slowly, but once you're in the thick of things, there is almost no putting down the experience. There are very few shows that manage to lay out such a grand stage of events, and still never feeling rushed or inadequate, as it never lacks the bravado to back up the events that get more intense as the show progresses.
Craving for more, the viewer is instigated to start thinking about the events of the show, about morality and how much sacrifice is compared to the greater good. Is evil necessary to defeat evil, and how much of a right is necessary for a wrong to be perceived as the correct path?
The concept of the show in general almost involves us viewers personally, considering the 'power' that is wielded by our MC is more than imaginable within our own lives. It's use, and the consequences thereof all seem possible, and the show is not afraid to pull punches when it needs to. It knows when to move from heartfelt and gut-wrenching plotlines to a more light-hearted relaxed scene without any of them feeling forced or unnecessary. Even episodes that are commonly reduced to simple filler for most shows have care and attention intertwined within them. Character progression and the careful cat-and-mouse games that revolve around our MC are apparent, and are especially noticeable in the less intense scenes.
Backed up by those final few episodes, where the story reaches a point of such tension, such emotion, all to end the season in such a crescendo, a point of no return, shows how all of the events can come together and deliver, truly deliver. A moment of perfect tension, with only one way forward, the next season. To this day, I have not experienced a stronger cliffhanger that urges the viewer to watch the next installment of a show.
This is all backed up by such an excellent soundtrack that is both captivating and emotional when it needs to be. It all comes together in a way that's indescribable without spoiling the plotline that must be experienced firsthand.
Are there problems with the show? Sure, the artstyle might seem dated, the story suffers from a very apparent power-loop and sometimes you wonder why character X did not simply do Y instead of Z, but does that detract in any way from the excellence that this show portrays? In my opinion, the flaws are barely worth mentioning compared to the enjoyment one can derive from watching this show. It might put you off, as it did me, at first glance. But it's but a shadow, an illusion. If you cared enough to read about the show in the first place, you are most likely going to enjoy it once you do decide to give it a chance.
A tale worth watching, worth experiencing, and definitely worth your time. I bid you all farewell, and I hope you consider my words carefully. Chances are, if you came this far into the review, you have already decided, and I hope your decision is well-founded.
Stay tuned for my next review, I'll be sure to cover the second season as well, as it's no less deserving of my thoughts, and I can't wait to put them into words.
Thank you for your time, dear valued reader, and hopefully you enjoyed my written experiences concerning "Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch".
