I review this without having watched the 2005 version or having read the manga.
Glass no Kamen tells the story of a 13 years old girl Maya who is very interested in theatrical plays.
She dreams to be an actress some day and she would do everything to accomplish that dream.
She attracts the attention of the famous and strict Tsukikage and she becomes one of her student at her acting school.
From there she has to endure many hardships and the way she surpasses all of them with her willingness never ceased to amaze me.
I was enthralled by all of her theatrical interpretations that I feel to be
...
very impressive and realistic.
About the other characters :
Himekawa Ayumi, a rich and wealty girl, has an interesting rivalry with Maya. Even if Maya is poor and novice in the art of playing Ayumi consider her quickly as a huge obstacle to overcome, a true rival. She gives at all to beat Maya.
Masumi Hayami is in a love and hate relationship with Maya.
He is really mean with her and her teacher Tsukigake to obtain the performance right of Crimson Goddess.
But he is also Maya's secret admirer who send her roses for each representation.
I find him to be a perfect tsundere.
I don't like this character.
Tsukikage is especially strict in her teaching so she can find someone fit enough to play the perfect role of the Crimson Goddess.
Glass no Kamen doesn't have many happy moments, it's overdramatic but it's very fascinating in her melodrama. That's why I enjoyed it.
