Well, you are probably reading this review because you have already seen the series, but wondering if the ova is worth your time. Well, I'll dissect it for you, YES IT IS WORTH YOUR TIME!
This is because the plot is adapted from two chapters of the manga, hence it actually has PLOT! And not just "fan-service!"
PLOT:
Very nicely paced and many flashbacks on the background of Kija, yes this story is focused primarily around him and his past. The pacing is fantastic for an OVA, and the balance of humour and seriousness is perfect.
CHARACTER:
Well, if you have seen the series, you know that all

Ao Haru Ride

I'll just say this, most shoujo anime I find too cliche in dramatic scenes, But Ao Haru Ride executed everything perfectly.
Story - 8 Two words - unbelievably heartwarming! The storyline wasn't shockingly different from most shoujo anime, but each scene and arc were just beautifully executed, nothing was too over-the-top, and the interactions between the characters seriously moved me (and I have to admit, I am not easily moved!) Art - 9 Beautiful animation, use of water colours makes everything look very warm and dreamy. Lines are crisp and sharp, colours are vibrant. Sound - 8 Beautiful BG music containing some piano and strings, as the main theme soundtrack ... Apr 11, 2015

I am a newcomer to this sort of genre but it has actually been quite an enjoyable and educational experience for me.
Story - 8 The story surrounds 1 main gay couple and 2 other gay couples, how they met and how they try to maintain or deepen their relationship. There are a few intimate scenes straight on in the first couple of episodes (nothing too revealing but still intimate), which at first for me was a little hard to watch. However, after seeing the characters take on the challenges of maintaining a "taboo' relationship (age difference, jealousy, loss, misunderstandings), you really understand how much the characters ... I absolutely love this anime because it is soooo funny.
To keep it short, Story is very funny! You will expect a lot of hilarious moments and romantic moments. The art is pretty good, but that's probably because I love the constant incorporation of chibi drawings. You will find so many chibi moments in this anime I guarantee. Intro and Ending music is very good, and the cinematic music is very appropriate for the different scenes. Main Characters are absolutely to-die-for funny even though they are a little typical. THere are little aspects of them that are very unique and hilarious though, which makes them extremely lovable. If you ... Apr 8, 2015
This anime I enjoyed for the most part because of the animation and music.
The animation itself is amazing, especially in the intro, all the dance moves, the confetti, the actions are very well animated, the settings are beautifully drawn, the characters' features are crisp and detailed. I am absolutely in love with the music, they are stuck in my head. It is anime about music, so it would suck if the music was no unique or interesting. So yes, the music is good in the fact that not only pop chords are used but the melody in each song are very unique and different from ... Apr 8, 2015

I thoroughly enjoyed this anime even though I'm usually not usually into this genre.
TO keep it brief, the reason why I liked it is because it is so funny, there are moments when you are rooting for the supporting characters as well as the main, and the characters are generally well developed in just the mere 10 episodes. Because I am not usually into this genre, I found it a little bit uncomfortable in the intimate scenes, but if you substitute Izumi for a girl, it would be totally fine. However making him a guy makes it all the more hilarious. But yes, I would ... Apr 8, 2015
Skip Beat!

I am a little biased because this is my favourite shoujo anime of all time!!!
The reason why this anime is so good is just because most female shoujo characters are very weak, shy and boring and only used as a tool to highlight how hot or amazing the guys are. But Skip Beat! is on another level in terms of the main characters. Kyouko is just the funniest, strongest, and most surprising heroine I have ever seen, her character development will shock you and you will not believe how amazing she is in every way. She actually makes the guys seem less cool compared to ... |
