Missile Happy!

Mikako goes to investigate a potential husband for her sister & ends up falling for him herself! I know, I know. It sounds kinda predictable, right? But it's worth it. It's so funny & heart-warming at times. I am really, really looking forward to reading more of this.

This series is hilarious, heartbreaking, ... and I was going to keep going with the 'h' theme but I can't think of any more. :P This is a rare manga series where I love everyone, even the 'villains'. I love how Airi tries to keep her sanity even when she is surrounded by all these magical boys and their drama. Aram is adorable; I can identify with how Airi feels when he goes back to being young after being old-- like a perv! This series is only four volumes long; the story wraps itself up nicely, but it would have been awesome if there was

This is an interesting series with a pretty unique storyline. I like the series, despite the fact that some of the characters are rather unlikable; it took me quite a long time to warm to Ara & sometimes the two kids are too stupid to live. :/ I was about halfway through v4 when I realised that I was not going to like where this all was going. I'm not a big fan of cliffhangers... and the author dropped the series. *flails* I might finish it, but I'll need a happy story to wash it down.

If I could say just one thing about this series, it'd be that it didn't take itself seriously -- although sometimes it really should have: there were moments when the plot/scene was almost too ridiculous to be remotely believable. It's a funny series though, and it can be touching at times. I really liked the ending of this series. :)

Marmalade Boy

I had a hard time with the first volume but it became more enjoyable as I continued on. This series has moments where it is actually boring & sometimes the storylines are just too cliche to be taken seriously, but it does have heart. Many of the characters feel real. (And if you have a thing for mildly incestuous storylines, this is definitely worth a read. :P)

Kakumei no Hi

This is about a high school boy who finds out one day that he was actually born female. (Hermaphroditism is the given diagnosis.) Instead of continuing life as 'half a boy', he decides to become 'a complete woman'. The manga follows his change into Megumi & then how she adapts to life, including returning to the same high school. There were a lot of really neat aspects to this story, but there were several times that I felt that the storyline was losing its potential. If this had been a series, I probably would have given up out of impatience but it's complete in two

Tokyo Boys & Girls

I'm a sucker for complicated high school romances & this definitely hits the spot. This is a realistic high school series and the kids' feelings & behaviours are quite genuine. I don't want to spoil the ending but I will say that it's the perfect conclusion to this story, considering the characters, their ages, & their love stories.

Sono Te Wo Dokero

I was actually rather disappointed to find out that this isn't a boy's love manga. Seriously, the amount of UST between Kotarou, Tatsuki, & Yuuto is just so obvious. I didn't know that subtext could be this texty. I like this manga very much, despite the fact that the storylines became rather repetitive & stale as the series went on.

I really liked this, which surprised me a little. I'm not an athletic girl; my experience with sports has always been in a strictly managerial fashion. Yeah, this is a manga about volleyball but, more importantly, it's a manga about a girl who gives up everything to follow her dream. That's the kind of thing I can get into.

Kedamono Damono

You can't take Kedamono Damono seriously, but that's half the fun. Genderbending has never been so awesome. (Is it even genderbending? I mean, Haruki is sometimes completely a boy & sometimes a girl. That's not even really genderswapping, considering it's the same body. I guess genderswitching would be the most accurate term... These are the kinds of thoughts this manga inspires. :D)
