Frieren while good in many aspects, also has some very obvious flaws that people seem to not have the ability to comprehend or outright ignore bad writing. First off is introducing Frieren's party and making us feel like we care for them in the first episode with short amount of time spent on them. Then its a series of mandatory character building/plot progression that finally gets interesting with the introduction of Stark in ep 5. The payoff of the show is that finally after the midway point of the show (around episode 12-13) you finally have enough characterization of everyone that the episodes are enjoyable
...
and you wanna keep binge watching them.
The next major flaw is that all demons are bad and the explanation for them is, "Beasts that mimic humans". And like I thought it doesn't make sense when its shown they have the ability to think about the past, analyze events and make new choices based on that, on a deeper level than typical monsters. Only us humans can do that with our sentient level of intelligence which means they also have it. So being a long lived race, and having the ability to reason/being sentient, it doesn't make sense for them to exist in Frieren the way do, unless a more detailed explanation is given. This is why pure evil races/characters in fiction normally have little to no intelligence because they can just act on impulses and be evil without morality or real infighting. Giving them the ability to think like humans and they could develop their own personal view on things or even understand the other side, which contradicts them being an "evil race/character" but rather just evil aligned. Case in point, you're telling me all Demons respect the power hierarchy and try to kill every other race they see?
Finally, not really the show's fault but rather the fandom's. is that it's really not for everyone since its a slow burn and not an action/political heavy fantasy that usually would be overlooked if not for the mainstream appeal it got. So while yes it becomes good in the second half, the first half is more of a grind to stay interested in if you're not already into this type of story. What I believe happened was people hyped it up, causing a great amount of people to watch it, stick to it because it's popular, and then saying those that dislike it didn't get it or harass them like with one Tweet I saw of a girl watching the show in double speed and not liking it, which granted she deserved cause that was a stupid and bad faith criticism, but most criticism probably was something like the show is just boring.
Putting those criticisms aside, its a must watch show in general but I could see how despite it being really good, if you're not interested in this type of story, then its better not to force yourself into it.

So good it makes you think the ending was actually good. A few plot holes, but the high quality animation with the really unique story, would make this an instant watch recommendation for any anime fan, that is until the ending is just a complete backstab to everything the series was about. The first seasons were about the remaining part of humanity living behind walls having to face Titans, for the sake of freedom, a real interesting world for a post apocalyptic world. Then the story took a "humans are the real enemy" turn halfway into the series, but the ending really solidified that and
...
it's a waste of a unique concept this series originally had.
That said, I actually like the ending itself since the final scene of war taking place on Paradis Island, with bullets falling next to Eren's tombstone and the city getting hit with missiles is really powerful and raw for a series to end that way. Then showing the post apocalyptic greenery overtaking the destroyed buildings, a young boy finding the same tree Ymir once found, really reminded me of Etrian Odyssey.
The only way this finale could be saved is if Isayama made a squeal series and cooked like Oda or Miura, like making the AOT characters legendary figures or something similar. Otherwise, its a let down and a backstab to the prequel series.

This is peak anime, so good it transcends the medium and you forget you're watching an anime. This isn't just a good story with good politics, it's the show that perfectly complements both and gives a satisfying conclusion to everything the series is about. It shows the most idealized version of a monarchy, against the idealized version of someone who believes in democracy, in an era where humans now live in space. The story is so interesting throughout the 110 episodes (minus a few filler episodes in the first season), that if you've watched and liked the first or second episode, you're gonna enjoy the

rest. The characters, the music, the science, the history, the world building, it succeeds like not other political space opera does.
I wouldn't recommend this anime to beginners however, since requires a certain level of understanding and patience, something most modern anime fans lack until after they've had a variety of different types of anime and want to experience something completely different.
LOTGH is to anime, what Ted Kaczynski's manifesto is to politics and philosophy, but with a good story to.
