If you enjoyed Weakest Tamer you might enjoy Ascendance of a Bookworm. There isn't really any combat until the 2nd or 3rd season, but the nuances are the same. A young girl in a fantasy world sort of geared up with knowledge from her life in modern-day Earth. No annoying characters, not too much suspense or drama. The MCs have different backgrounds and the MC is Bookworm doesn't have such a traumatic past - she actually has a loving family. The MCs both have a mature personality in the body of a tiny little girl that is not sexualized in any way. It is innocent, enjoyable, adventurous, and relaxing.

The animes have different art styles and general nuances, [also one is a 2 part movie and the other a 12-episode anime], but they're set in the Taishou era, with the looming threat of the Great Kanto Earthquake disaster. The characters are vastly different, one could say almost opposites, but both animes deal with arranged marriage, developing young love and hardships developing one's character. Both have strong female characters, but Benio is more of a tomboy while Yuzuki is more of a caring-mother type character. The male characters have almost nothing in common, apart from being from prominent families. Shinobu from Miss Modern is clearly the ikemen type, while Tamako from Taishou Fairytale is a gloomy young boy with a slightly disabled arm who is in the process of re-discovering himself. At some point both thiink they don't deserve the FL, but it's really her decsion to make too. The female support character in both works gives off similar feelings of a strong independent woman that has tension in their friendship with the female lead due to her fiance. Well, you won't find a Ramaru in every anime, so sorry, none of that here really. Miss Modern has more of a josei-feel to it, while Taishou fairytale feels more like a shoujo. But I supposed they're similar enough if you're starved for some more of the same type of work. Be warned, in Taishou Fairytale; the romance is slow, almost non-existent, there is more than one annoying character, severals ide-characters seems more dashing than the main FL and ML, the art is unique and not a very popular style. Yet I find myself thinking of the one after watching the other. Love prevails, but I feel empty inside after realizing once again how devastating the disaster was. I supposed both have bitter-sweet endings in a way.

Both are historical fiction; Ooku in the Edo period & Tale of Genji in the older Heian era. Both deal with heartbreaking relationships that are bittersweet. The narration & nuance is similar. The character art style is similar. Historical Japanese folk music features in both works. The demographic genre is Josei. Seemingly the works pose philosophical questions. Both works leave one feeling both empty inside and full of emotion with stories of love that could never end happily. They feature the backstage of politics & courting in historical settings in Japan. Genji is a more authentic realistic story based on the oldest known fictional novel in the world, while Ooku is based on a more modern work that is formed from many "What if's".

Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu

Both have well-rounded characters and historical aspects. Shouwa is about storytelling and the Tale of Genji is the first written novel story. Both have a relaxing but somewhat dramatic atmosphere with adult themes [josei demography]. Both series are greatly underrated. No annoyingly loud characters or cheap fanservice. Mature comedy and well-sculpted plot.

Josei. Relaxed atmosphere. Working adults falling in love. Fune wo Amu is more niche with the main focus on the working environment and the character's ambitions and goals, while Natsuyuki Rendezvous focuses more on the character relationships. Both have strange metaphysical metaphors but FwA is more philosophical. If you enjoyed the one you will most likely enjoy the other.

It deals with a main character (girl) that has health problems and a guy that supports her through difficult times even though they're just strangers. It shares a theme of embracing the true meaning of living and two people who were blind to this truth reveals it to each other.

Both have a great plot with interesting characters, political intricacies, action, strategy, deep emotional connections, good humour & philosophical questions of right and wrong and grey & maintaining one's core principles. The setting is different (modern vs ancient) but there are many similarities in character relationship development. Two best friends that want what is best for the people and to defeat a greater evil, one within the law and the other with stronger but morally questionable means. They have a love-hate relationship. The main character is a misunderstood tragic hero and seemingly when his power goes out of control (or when he stands up against evil) he causes the death of the ones he loves the most. The MC is a tragic hero scorned by the people even though all he ever did was just and righteous but the more he saved the helpless the more hated he became. While his best friend might end up killing him and instead become very revered and respected for vanquishing the apparent great evil. (also watch season 2 of MDZS to understand better) The MC reminds me of characters like Ichimaru Gin, Itachi Uchiha, Snape from Harry Potter and Lelouch - "I had to become the villain to protect those I love because nobody else was strong enough."
