Heavily symbolical and difficult to understand at face value, the tale of a young man's growth is told either by guitars or biological robots. Also, a series about characters and relationships.

The melodramatic short tale of a girl who unwillingly died, and her friends who helped her move on to her next life. Slightly overdone, but sad nonetheless. One is moe, and the other is comedy-drama.

An otaku and a tsundere. Konata is to Hajime as Kagami is to Kaoru. If you've seen Lucky Star and thought, "Konata and Kagami would be so cute in a relationship", then you'd enjoy seeing DgNwIkWK. The difference, however, is that Lucky Star relies on anime references while DgNwIkWK pokes fun at the otaku fanbase.

Fun, friendship, a pig, and a great addition to the long line of anime. Gurren Lagann is more story-centered while Yatterman Night is more about a strange adventure. Both are about rebelling against a tyrant.

The protagonist appears to be a delinquent, meets a girl, and forms a club. The girl bullies the hell out of another girl for having large breasts. More members join and the club ends up becoming like a harem. (Almost all the characters seem to like Kyon in the Haruhi Suzumiya series...) However, Haruhi's characters have special powers that are used to keep Haruhi from destroying the world.

Romance, action, and a harem that mostly hurts the show rather than helps it! I personally prefer AD, but logically speaking, SAO has better action. However, what AD lacks in action, it makes up for in the relationship between characters. Also, Absolute Duo, unlike Sword Art Online, has characters not suited for its genre, making it rather interesting. If you liked SAO, you may like AD.

Within one episode you can tell that the main characters will develop a special bond by the end. The romance is stronger in Clannad, but still nice either way. Also, the main character already knows who he wants to be with him, and doesn't stray from that path.

Action and less direct plot. Many say the manga for both is better, but it's just a coincidence. The fear of a strange creature (Titans and Tetsuo). The questioning of whether the creature is evil or not. And... the well-animated scenes.

Both go at a fast pace to keep it interesting but slow down the pace to keep storylines and characters developing. They also tell a story of a main character who starts off as a weakling who feels useless but the character develops into a mature, brave hero. Oh, and they also have a cute red-ponytailed girl as a companion to their brutal adventure. The difference is that Gurren Lagann is a Mecha anime and Madoka Magica is a Magical Girls anime.
