Highschool DxD on the surface may not look like anything special, even among other Light Novels. But don't judge this book (or books) by its cover/s. This was the first Light Novel I've ever read, and up until now I have not read another series that has kept me as hooked and as interested as this one. Does it have recognizable character archetypes, tropes etc? Perhaps, but it executes them so well that it isn't a negative for this series. This is my first Light Novel review.
Story: The story involves involves devils, angels, dragons, and many other beings, plenty being from mythologies. The main cast
...
are devils and they become involved in predicaments regarding many things. They become involved with the church, the underworld. But they must also deal with their "regular" high school lives, and their own trials and struggles.
Art: Even though it is a Light Novel with few illustrations. The artist has such amazing art that I can't help but give this a 10. One of the better artists in the Light Novel industry for sure.
Characters: 9/10. The characters are all appealing and fun in their own ways. The main character is Issei Hyoudou, he is just a regular a pervert in high school. That is before he becomes involved in the world of devils (he remains perverted though). He joins the Occult Research Club in his high school. Everyone in this group is a devil, all of them reincarnated (like Issei) except for the leader, Rias. Rias is the female MC and the main love interest of Issei. But that doesn't mean that the rest of the club is boring. All of the females are attractive, with their own unique personalities and are a subject of interest of the MC. Issei has good points to him as well, he cares for the people around him and will do anything, even though he is particularly weak to start off. But through perseverance and training, he becomes able to hold is own. More characters are introduced throughout the novels, and all become likable and enjoyable to read about.
Enjoyment: 10/10. This is of one the most enjoyable series I have ever read. I never found a dull moment in this series. It hooks you in and it only gets better as it goes on. The story is well written, as it connects everything very well.
Overall: 10/10. If you're a fan of Light Novels, this is definitely a must read. If you've never read a Light Novel, let this one be your first. If you don't like Light Novels, well, I'd still recommend to read it. Haha.

Minamoto-kun Monogatari, also known Minamoto's Story, is not your typical ecchi harem. This series is a sienen, which means it targets a more mature audience. This means it isn't afraid to border (or even cross) the line when it comes to subjects such as sex and nudity. In my opinion it is one of the better harem mangas out there, and definitely worth a read. Although, if you do not like seeing incest in manga, this series is not for you. As there is definitely some incest in this series. Keep in mind I'm very generous when giving scores.
Story: 9/10. The story is said
...
to be a modern day telling of the Tale of Genji. Our main character, Terumi Minamoto is on a quest to have sex with multiple women. He had always been traumatized of women due to being bullied by them when he was in middle school. He is now entering university and is forced to live with his aunt Kaoruko Fujiwara. She wants him to be the modern day Genji. She wants him to capture the hearts of 14 women. This is all part of her experiment to recreate a modern day Tale of Genji. Minamoto now has to capture the hearts of 14 women. His "targets" include a wide range of women. It is always interesting to see Minamoto go on a mission. If there was any complaint, it'd be that all the chapters are only 8 pages long, so it can indeed get a little slow sometimes.
Art: 10/10. The art is fantastic. Inaba Minori is a great artist. She draws really attractive characters as well. All of the girls are attractive, from the aunt to the targets.
Character: 9/10. Our main character, Minamoto, certainly has a lot to learn. He is slowly but surely attempting to outgrow his fear of women. I always find myself rooting for him to do his best on his conquests. Though he can be a wimp, I find it understandable due to his hardships. He is growing over time, and it is great to see. Now for his aunt. His aunt is amazing. She has no qualms over using herself to help Minamoto in his conquest. She lets him use her body (yes, this is incest). His targets include many different women with different personalities. You will definitely come to like some if not all of them (so far, not every target has been introduced yet).
Enjoyment: 10/10. There is never a dull moment when reading this manga. Especially when the scenes get more mature, if you know what I mean. Should be an enjoyable read anyone. The only complaint is that the chapters are really short. So it is torture waiting week after week for a new chapter. But it is definitely worth it!
Overall: 9/10. Its a great series that will definitely keep you entertained. I definitely recommend it!

Prince of Tennis is one of the more recognizable and popular sports series in recent memory. But what about it makes it so popular? If I had to say, it'd be the characters. You get attached to certain ones as the series progresses, than at some point you overlook the actual tennis being played. So, here is my review on the series. Keep in mind I am very generous when giving out scores.
Story: 8/10. The story itself is nothing breathtaking or all that special. Its about a tennis team, Seishun Gakuen (Seigaku for short) attempting to become the best tennis team in Japan. They
...
want to win the National Tournament. But they have to work to get there. They must first start out playing within their own prefecture, and so on and so forth. They attempt to conquer rival schools in order to achieve their goal. They get stronger as team through training, bonds grow stronger, and a certain level of respect of trust is reached. But this is the formula for plenty of sports series involving teams. There is drama involved among the schools, some may call it forced, but it makes the story more interesting.
Now for the tennis itself, this is where the series is make or break for a lot of people. It starts out somewhat unrealistic, some of the moves or techniques would absolutely be hard to replicate in real life tennis. The techniques do indeed get more and more ridiculous as the series progresses. Despite that, it was never really that big of an issue for me. Taking into account other factors, the story is still enjoyable.
Art: 9/10. The art starts out pretty sloppy. But it eventually develops into art that in my opinion is really good. It fits the series perfectly, and it gets better and better over time. The characters are indeed very well drawn.
Characters: This in my opinion is a strong point in this series. Ryoma Echizen is the main character, and he is the only 1st year student on the regulars of the tennis club. He is your cool and confident (sometimes arrogant) MC. Despite that, you want to cheer for him regardless. The rest of Seigaku are also a wide cast of characters. Tezuka, Fuji, Oishi, Kikumaru, Inui, Momoshiro, Kaido, and Kawamura. This rounds out the players from Seigaku. They each go through their own trials and attempt to overcome them. As for rivals in this series, there are some you can't help but come to like some of them. They face many schools, who each have their own agenda and backstory.
Enjoyment:10/10. Once I started reading this, I was hooked from the get go. The matches played are all interesting, and the matchups makes for interesting storylines. It is definitely one of the most enjoyable and engaging manga series I have ever read.
Overall: 9/10. I give this series a 9 because although it isn't perfect, it is enjoyable and engaging from start to finish. Despite the ridiculous tennis being played, you come to overlook it and enjoy it nonetheless.
