Despite what most may say, this anime wasn't terrible at all!
I liked Soul Eater, of course. I'd say I enjoy most shows I watch. For a slice of life it was very entertaining and engaging, unlike most that don't have a lot in terms of plot or drama. Please, do not compare this show to it's shounen parent anime, cause you'd be disappointed for doing so. Learn to distinguish your taste genre-by-genre and search for good points in everything you watch.
It was refreshing being able to focus on "total nobodies" in the SE canon, and learn about the difference between EAT and NOT classes.
...
I didn't even know that was a thing in the parent show! Though I always wondered why it is that a select few DWMA students did all the fighting and like 90% of the school's roster didn't, and this show neatly explains it.
As for the whereabouts of the main cast, they are very much involved in the story as well and make frequent and important appearances. Especially Maka, Soul, Oxford, Sid, and even Stein.
The way Tsumugi made her decision on which meister she'd be the weapon of was very unique as well. I expected her to split into two weapons, or a weapon that can be suited for two meisters, but instead her two meisters handled her in sync without the need for a major transformation. It was cool how despite their weakness they manage to take out the witch, though I'd hoped Tsumugi would've eaten the witch's soul. (Even though that would defeat the point of the show, huh?)
All in all, if you want a fun little show to watch with yuri elements, fighting, and frequent cameos of the main Soul Eater cast, I'd hope you can swallow your stubbornness and give the show a try.
