Hello there - as Danish Netflix finally decided to put Ingress onto its page, I decided to go watch it for fun.
Before starting on the review I want to note that I have played the game for a couple of years and therefore have some knowledge towards what's happening and how the game works. Even so, I went into this with low expectations and sadly the anime didn't do much to make me regret my expectation level.

On to the review:

Story and Plot: 3
The anime is set in an ordinary world, where a game Ingress flows around. The game contains certain portals for different factions enlightened ... and resistance that can be fought over between the 2 teams. The series do very little to explain stuff early on so it seems like a big mess, where we just see a lot of chaotic fighting scenes and people being chased without really knowing why. Anyway, apparently the world isn't completely normal as first assumed (surprise it's anime), there is some matter called XM, that gives certain people powers. The XM is not something most people can see nor feel, but it is there around everyone. I believe the anime is trying to be mysterious in a way, while also making one of the main characters powers very mysterious, however we are not ever really explained what exactly they are. The story in generel seems very ordinary with a guy wanting to take over the world, using some of this XM to create a new world.
Ingress ends up having a very generic story, with a lot of plot holes and poorly executed within the mystery genre it wants to be in.

Art: 3
The animation for this anime seems very weak all things considered. The CGI isn't the worst I've seen, however the character designs and the movement in fighting scenes are first boring and secondly choppy at times (feels awkward)

Sound: 7
The soundtrack seems rather decent, got some good timings with great music, and both opening and ending seems fairly good. This is one of the best parts of the anime sadly.

Character: 4
The characters are very genuine. Without spoiling too much, the main character is a typical shut-in who discovers he has a strange power in the "not so ordinary" world. He gains big interest in a girl who has some mysterious power around her, and basically just tries to reach her all anime from start to end. The villains and other mains aren't much better. 11 episodes doesn't make for much development either, so I cannot say this was a strength either.

Enjoyment: 4
Overall the anime was fairly easy to watch, all things considered. I didn't enjoy it too much, but I wasn't dying watching it either. I do wish however, that it wouldn't have been as predictable as it was.

Overall I have to give it a 3. The story was a big mess, even though it tried being very basic with everything. The only thing making this anime worth your time is if you are a big fan of the game franchise and just want to watch it animated. However, I really do not recommend it for people who have no knowledge of the game, and even if you do - maybe you are better off playing some more, as this provides nothing but dissatisfaction.

For whatever reason I decided it was a clever decision to start watching Air Gear thinking it was somewhat a classic. Sadly I was very wrong.

First of all what I noted was the animation was incredibly poor. This is the same year that anime like Code Geass and Death Note, which are 2 very known anime that isn't outdated at all in the animation art. However, Air Gear did not manage to solve the riddle of how to make an anime look well. Already from ep 1 it seemed like they saved money where they could in "lack" of animation, and just blurry pictures ... instead. This was just one of many problems with the anime. Secondly the characters that were focused on were poor-designed. For instance we have this pink-haired girl who seems very important the first 3 episodes. Then we don't see her then next 15 until she shows up again later on around ending where she is just an observer talking to other observers of the anime...
Enjoyment and story can be taken in one, as I couldn't enjoy a none-existent story that didn't have a flow. It was literally impossible to figure out, what the anime was trying to do, how AT was even considered a sport and many other problems a long with the storyline, that made it impossible to enjoy the "short" 25 episode series.

Now you're probably wondering why I gave this a '2'? - The music track for this anime is absolutely awesome. Go to YouTube and google Air Gear Ost and just listen to the beautiful soundtrack, and save yourself the travesty of watching this anime. Just know that the music is awesome and that's all there is to it.

This anime is very good in it its own way and very different from what i've seen myself. It has a very realistic outcome and besides True Tears I cannot find any other anime that ends up being as realistic as this one.

Story (8)

Though the story is rather simple, the development is it is very interesting. A girl who enters a different environment that she is used to be in and gets excited about the surroundings + gets involved with a boy. What else do you need?

Art (8)

I gave the art an 8 because I found it really challenging and different from what I've ... seen before. For some it may be negative, but to me it was really good, and especially a sight worth watching.

Sound (6)

Honestly there isn't much unnecessary sound in the anime so I don't know what to say about it. All there really is to it is fine voice acting and no major sound effects.

Character (7)

Honestly all characters are very believeable to being realistic. Some are a bit over the edge to make it interesting, but there isn't a single character who is overdone. It's really good to see they can keep it up.

Enjoyment (7)

I gave the enjoyment 7 for a couple of reasons. It's very easy to watch, marathonable even which is very positive to me. Furthermore it has an easy storyline and you don't have to think too hard while watching it, just enjoying it.

Overall (7)

I decided to give this anime a 7 even though I really like it, I have to admit it is very girly. I'm not gonna say 7 is low or high, but to me 7 is a really good score and then an anime is as girly as this and gets 7 it is really big. I believe this should be watched especially by girls, as it seems it would be received very postively.
