Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch

Both main characters take on the "antagonist" role to cleanse the world of evil. Both MC's are very strong and especially Death Note have a very good character as opposing role to this plan. Death Note is a bit lacking in the 3rd part of the anime, and is mainly carried by the 2 opposing main characters, while side characters are somewhat uninteresting, while Code Geass have an amazing cast with a ton of interesting characters from beginning to the end. The music in both anime is also really great, but by now it should be no surprise that both of these anime is def worth a watch.

Kaikan Phrase

We have a music anime that is very focused in showing the hardship of getting popular within music in Kaikan Phrase while still having time to show hardships in relationships and everything that go along with it. In Nana it focuses more on relationships at first, and then the music world - and the hardships that go along with that. Chances are you watched Nana, and if you do I recommend you to look up Kaikan Phrase. They feel very similar even though it has a male main cast. Kaikan Phrase does not have the most modern animation quality as it is from the early 2000's, but I hope you will give it a shot - as it is definetly worth your time.

Devilman: Crybaby

Masaaki Yuasa is the man who directed both of these very unique animated anime series. Both anime question humans and monsters as species, and who is actually the real monster? They both get very graphical with gore and nudity, but it is nothing too horrorful to be of too much harm, however this does mean that the anime may not be for everyone. I recommend to watch Devilman: Crybaby first to see if you are up for his work, and if you like it you should check out Kemonozume as well.

Maison Ikkoku
|
Both anime contain a main male character who practically lives with his manager in the case of Maison its the household manager and in Touch its the school baseball club manager. The main male are in love with this person, but in both anime it seems like the managers are waiting for the males to "grow up" even though they seem to share these feelings. Touch is a sports anime, however it is not very visible from start to end, it comes more in arcs so that does not take on every aspect of the anime. The cast growing mid-season 2 (around episode 40) in Touch makes the characters fit perfectly into Maison's also growing cast around midway. Same kind of love struggles, same kind of mood, same kind of comedy at times is why I believe that if you like one of them you'll like the other one as well.

Bokura wa Minna Kawai-sou

The 2 anime are from different eras, but you can definitely see where Kawai-sou got its idea. Both anime contain: Main male character in love with another character living in the dorm. A very strange personality in the other male tenant A somewhat slutty female tenant A somewhat evil female tenant, making everything worse for main. If you like one you should like both, and don't be scared of Maison Ikkoku being old, it does not make it any less enjoyable and watchable.

Kobato.

Both of these anime are about a being out of this world trying to be as helpful as possible. The setting is in the same apartment in Kobato as it was in Chobits, which aired many years before Kobato. Chii from Chobits tries to make the main character happy, while Kobato tries to make everyone happy, which makes the characters likable - while both being a bit awkward and clumsy. If you like one, you probably will like both, though I will say Chobits is from 2002 so it does not have the best animation, which might put some off. If that isn't a bother to you though it should be just as good as Kobato, where Kobato might have a more satisfying ending to it, but taking a bit longer to get there than Chobits do.

Zankyou no Terror

Spoiler free Both series stand upon a social threat where both can be categorized as some sort of terrorism. All the good parts and the drama that is in Death Note, is basically what Zankyou no Terror delivers from start to end. It is a bit shorter and therefore it doesn't have any unnecessary details towards the series. I find both similiar because of the threat the police is up against, though the characters is somewhat difference, it is still very familiar. If you've seen one of them I recommend to watch the other as well. Go write to me if you disagree, and share your opinion.
