These two shows are similiar in the sense that the Angels are not necessarily the sweet helpful "good" cherub like beings that Christians attribute them to being and can be in fact dubious, deceitful, and sadistic. The demons on the otherhand are mindful, tidy, honest, and to be frank, pretty wholesome. The only difference is that Gabriel is more of a school CGDCT and Foolish Angel has romance angle in its school setting.

Both shows highlight a female MC with a dominatrix theme. Her responses are usually outlandish and she revels in putting other characters in humiliating situations for her own pleasure.

The dynamics between both love interests is very similiar and theres a definite push and pull between the two in the storyline. The chemistry between the male and female characters is very much akin to one attempting to best or outsmart the other while still harboring feelings of desire to be with the other.

Show definitely follows slow mysterious world building. Thoughts that come to mind when thinking of the similatities between these two: unsettling, dark elements, and clean animation. It also doesn't hurt that the writing is smart and allows the characters to breathe and grow between jump scares while still adding tension as to where the rest of the story will unfold.

Dark themes, occultism heavy supernatural stories. Albeit the show is an anthology series and not a continuous story arc kind of series, itbpacks a punch. This series showcases some of the darkest japanese horror episodes I've ever seen and Dark Gathering has made me feel the same vibe at certain points. I think I actually like this more than any Junji Ito animes as a testimony to its ability to scare and unsettle you.

It covers instances of bullying and occultism while staying in the supernatural/horror genre. The pacing is also about the same though the writing and world building is better with Another.

Stay with me here for a second. This series follows a rag tag group of supernatural orphans lead by a shape-shifting racoondog. Their mission investigate the supernatural and need be exorcize ghosts and also outfox a kitsune police chief who wants to collect these weird powerful stones. And it's really dark about how it goes down. Very much same vibes but doubt it'll get a second season.
