This review is written assuming that you have seen the movie. If you haven't seen the movie i haven't included any devastating spoilers so read in peace.
The manga version of Nausica was written because couldn't get the funding he needed for am movie that was not based on manga. So in Miyazaki order to make his film he wrote the manga version and after he was able to produce his movie he continued to write the manga for almost a decade after the movie. As such the ... movie only includes a varied version of the first two volumes.

Ok, so enough background on to the manga. First let me say that i am not a huge fan of the film version of Nausica. I enjoyed it alot but i personally didn't quite connect with it as much as the manga. So if you absolutely loved the movie you will definantly love this or if you are like me i am sure you will still enjoy it.
Story: The story starts off very similar to the movie but then continues to go outside of the valley of the wind and involves other waring countries. That's one of the reasons i liked the manga better is because it explores a lot, lot more of the world that Nausica is based in and gives you much more to connect with. Also i liked the ending of the manga more because there was more of a character antagonist vs a moral antagonist which i felt fit the story better. The ending also had a lot more closure as i thought it wrapped things up nicely and left you satisfied. (Note: dont think that i am just bashing the movie its hard to make a long epic story in just an hour.)
Art: Probably Miyazaki's strongest point is the art. The art was very well done and is pretty much exactly like the movie. Only thing is i wish they did the entire manga in color as the pictures are very detailed and it would help with the descriptions.
Character: Ok, so do you remember the foreign princess Kushana? Well i really hated her in the movie, i really just found her annoying, i know she had a important place in the story but still. The manga really lets her redeem herself which i liked and introduces a lot more characters which were not included in the movie. Also as i said above there is more of a character antagonist which i think helps with the conclusion of the story.
Content: I like to add this part so people know what's going to be in what their reading. The one thing is there is like(ish) three parts that have some nudity and its really short. Also in some parts there is quite a load of blood but nothing over the top. Language i really didn't notice tot much (maybe thats just me). Overall nothing really extreme.
Last thoughts: I personally would have liked to see the story go on in a different direction but thats just me personally and i think Miyazaki did an amazing job of telling the story.
Also I think you should see the movie first before reading the manga because the movie really doesn't extend the story as much as the manga and after reading the manga the movie seems to cut the story short. (As i said before i am not bashing the movie! I just like the manga better!)

So if you haven't seen the movie go watch it even if you are not planning to read this, its a good movie and i think you will enjoy it.

An amusing little one shot by Naoki Urasawa. Being a one shot it wasn't able to become anything dazzling and i read it mainly because i plan on (someday) completing everything of Urasawa's. As i said since its so short it didn't have the chance to become something outstanding but its worth the read as i found the overall idea amusing.

Pluto by Naoki Urasawa and Osamu Tezuka. The overall base of Pluto is taken from (according to Anime news network) a story arc of Astro Boy and uses some of its characters. Naoki's touch comes in with the main character detective Gesicht (almost a reincarnation of detective Lunge, from Monster, with more emotion), in the art and in the thriller suspense that comes in at the beginning followed by the intricate plot depth that continues throughout the manga.

Story: At the beginning the story starts off as a mystery/thriller with the series of robot murders and then slowly turns into ... more of an action/mystery. The interesting part with Pluto is that it touches a bit on the psychology of robots while having the horrors of war to begin a cycle of hatred that plays a major role throughout the story affecting the characters deeply.

Characters: For those of you who have read Astro Boy or is just familiar with the cast of characters will realize that Atom is "Astro Boy" and notice the return of Dr. Ochanomizu and Tenma Umatarou also as I mention above that detective Gesicht is very similar to the of Monster's detective Lunge with some alterations. The characters do a very good job of following the story and are very well developed.

Content: One of the things that surprised me about Pluto was the content, it has (I believe) no blood or language (being that half the characters are robots). Absolutely no nudity or anything like it. Mainly anything content wise would be all the lives lost in the war talked about and some of the crimes committed that are mentioned. Overall probably one of the cleanest mangas i have read so far.

Art: The art is (if you are familiar with any Urasawa's other works) easily recognizable. Being somewhat similar to Death Note's having a very realistic portrayal of people versus some of your mainstream art leaving out the real detail of human features allowing Urasawa to really capture the full impact of human emotions.

Conclusion: I having watched the animated version of Monster am already a fan of Urasawa and if you are likewise you will really enjoy Pluto also. Urasawa starts off by sucking you into the story right alongside the characters all the way to the end.

Should you happen to be new to any of Urasawa's works Pluto in and by itself is a very good manga and I also suggest you check out some Urasawa's other works such-as Monster anime or manga (the anime directly follows the manga), 20th Century Boys or any of his other works.

When i first saw the art work for Soul Eater i didn't find it very attracting and so i passed it over a couple times but the i finally sat down and watched the first episodes i was immediately hooked. The art work was very unique and soon i really started to something different from your typical Shounen anime.

Now then allow me to say that the animated version of Soul Eater is pretty similar to the first anime of FMA. Not quite so much as story line or setting but in the structure. Both animes were awesome, funny, great characters and had ... good battle scenes. But they both had to vary from the original manga story line and ended up in making their own endings for them. Not to be too negative about it Soul Eater is an awesome anime. They really brought the characters to life and made the battle scenes very enjoyable and i encourage you to at least watch the first 10 episodes of the anime and then decide if you want to continue or begin the manga, seeing as the manga is still ongoing.
Lastly, i really love Soul Eater, both the anime and the manga and if you can i would suggest you read/watch both versions. Although they do have a lot of similarities the anime still varies on certain large sections of the plot.
Hope you enjoy it as much as i did.

I had heard a lot about Monster and when i finally got around to watching it for the first fifteen episodes I couldn't watch it fast enough, i was immediately drawn into the series. Then at about episode 40 it started to die down a little bit. WHen you first start watching this series note that this is 74 episodes long and in some points might get be a little slow. But don't let that discourage you. This is an amazing thriller and i loved it. Now if you are trying to decide whether to read the manga or watch ... the anime version i would recommend you watching at least the first 10 episodes of the anime and then decide from there because the anime is, from what i've heard and little of what i read, exactly the same as the manga. The art is very similar to Death Note's, portraying people in a very realistic way. Content wise there are some parts that have a lot of blood but nothing like Hellsing, some language and a few parts of nudity. Overall I loved the series, it one of the best thriller's i have ever seen. Lastly if you are thinking of watching this series remember that this is a seinen so if you are watching Naruto or One Piece be prepared for a change.

First off let me just say that this is one of my favorite anime of all time. The action awesome, not like your typical Naruto or Bleach fights where the people fighting must tell their life story and philosophy of life before finishing each other off. Here they fight to the death and winner takes all. I loved the characters and their relationships to each other. Mugen the reckless street sword fighter vs Jin the silent samurai and then Fuu the somewhat oblivious girlthrown in between the two. Another thing to add. This anime is funny as all hell, ... one of the funniest ones I've ever seen. Despite its portrayal of the world where corruption and violence are the only higher powers. If you liked Cowboy Bebop you will love this. I highly recommend this anime to anyone who loves anime.
