To be honestly, I enjoyed this a lot more than it is objectively good. I have a soft spot for gruff males in anime and Zouroku was by far the best part. Unfortunately, he didn't appear nearly frequently enough and his development ended in the first third of the series. Most of the show is about Sana and her cuteness which admitted gets less annoying as the show progresses.

The main problem I have with his anime is that it's a potentially great slice of life that tries to have a plot and spends a lot of time on plot without having a plot ... that's actually good. Ideas are introduced without much payoff and just die out. The powers the characters have also aren't explained very well and there were several moments when the characters didn't have powers or didn't use them that weren't explained.

The art style is cute, but the animations is very mediocre and there wasn't even a really poppy opening. Still if you watch the first 2 episodes and like the old man enough, you might be able to pull through this show okay and be mildly entertained.

There honestly wasn't much very interesting about this series. I haven't read the manga, but the whole thing just comes off as sloppily structured. There isn't even a definitive main character. You'd think it'd be Azi, but the show spends an abnormal amount of time focusing on a new character, Lefiya and her fangirl crushing on Azi. Lefiya is an incompetent mage who is very cutesy and very quickly got annoying for me. For being such a huge focus, she rarely drove the plot of mainly just tagged along with the team, needing to be saved constantly.

Now you can say that Bell needed ... to be saved a lot too, but he was also the main driving force of the plot and always got better after each mistake. Lefiya doesn't get better until very late in the 12 episode show. The main plot isn't even about her. Honestly, I didn't understand most of the plot. It was some conspiracy about the Gods we had a lot of exposition for, but that was never resolved.

Honestly, most of this anime feels like just set up for what happens in the manga. We learn a bit about Azi and see things connected to her past, but it's never explained and only touched upon in the last episode, because the rest of the time is spent with plots that have no weight to them and that I wasn't really interested in.

That being said, I did enjoy the members of the Loki familia and some of the new characters were enjoyable as well. The art and animation quality were pretty typical of an anime and as with the last Danmachi series I liked the character designs.

For a fan of the series, this is pretty much like the manga. As far as I remember the only thing they added was an extra shot of the Undertaker smirking a bit near the beginning. I don't really recommend a newcomer to start with this movie, not just because of the on-going story, but because this movie is essentially only set up for future arcs.

Nothing is really accomplished in this arc alone, which doesn't make the story bad, but all the other arcs in the manga have a clear beginning, middle and end. Something is always accomplished and characters are developed.

In ... this arc we get to learn more about Ciel and Sebastian's relationship, but either of them really reflect upon it and it isn't really relevant for the story presented in this movie though they were interesting. In the Circus arc I think the flashbacks were done much better because they affected Ciel's actions towards the end and tied into the plot.

Nevertheless the visual in this movie were nice and the characters were enjoyable as always. The voice acting was good and the music pleasing. Black Butler fans will be pleased by it, but newcomers should start with the manga or first series anime.
