The first reaction after watching this anime is "DAMN! this is the best anime ever!" However, with reflection this anime (while being great) has many weak characters that flood the screen for far too long. This anime could have easily cut out the fluff and made it into 12 episodes. That being said this anime is still and will remain one of my favorites of all time.

The internal struggle Shinichi Izumi undertake throughout the series. You really feel for him and his parasytic partner Migi. Without spoiling the end, I will say that the growth of those two characters together is eye watering. I ... cried tears of both sorrow and joy at the end of this series.

The main problem with this show is a problem that plagues other anime. It's the random harem of girls syndrome. Female characters with no depth or characterization apart from the fact that they are in love with the protagonist. One of the more interesting characters in the series (or so I thought) plot went absolutely nowhere! You waste time seeing this character for many episodes with no real closure leaving this time suck feeling in your head. The main love interest of Shinichi Izumi doesn't really go anywhere either. She loves him more or less the same throughout the entire series with no growth really as a human being. You do see how bothered she is by the struggle that Shinichi goes through and you do grow to care bout her in that respects. But apart from that she has no character of her own. The show would have done better with more emphasis on the dynamic between Shinichi and Migi instead.

Overall: Great series with an intriguing plot and well done protagonist. But otherwise has weak and mindless female characters that dominate the screen. The Music is astounding and leaves you breathless in the most emotionally gripping sections of the show. I do recommend a watch. But to give it any higher than an 8 would be an insult to other anime that properly give attention to all characters.

I LOVE Berserk. But it's age really shows. If you have even the slightest interest in the show, go watch the first 3 episodes before making up your mind.

This animation is DATED. I have heard the three movies have much better animation than this adaptation. It felt like a slide show at times. There were fight scenes where there would be enemies sitting completely still in the background. It brought me out of the immersion. I am lenient on it though because it is from the 90s. But its day and night coming from a show like Fate Zero (best animation of its class) ... to this.

The three main characters Guts, Griffith, and Caska were all fleshed out beautifully. You learn to like these characters for all different reasons. However, Caska, did take awhile for me to actually appreciate her. The first half of the series Caska kinda felt just like a pebble in the way of the other characters development. This does change the more you watch and eventually learn of her back story.

Overall, I can see the praise this show has received. The show is Good? Sure. But great? absolutely not. The ending leaves much to be desired. And its a 'go f yourself, read the manga' type of ending which was disappointing. I am now reading the manga because I did enjoy it enough to give it a shot. If you like watching people slice eachother open and can look past the poor animation, go watch Berserk.

DO NOT watch FMA: Brotherhood without first watching the 2003 adaptation. The first 13 episodes of Brotherhood are fast paced without drawing the same emotions as the original FMA 03. The show assumes you are familiar with the back stories of the characters and does a very underwhelming job at introducing the Elric Brothers as a characters. This is this shows main drawback. The motives of Edward and Alphonse Elric seem not as valuable as they did in the original. You will have more fun watching the side characters of the show in action then the two leads. Which isn't necessarily a problem but ... it would have liked to see more impact on their story. While the original series left me emotional in the end, FMA: Brotherhood felt like another DBZ in the last 5-10 episodes which was disappointing.

Overall the sheer quality and budget of the series shows. The fights definitely are entertaining when they are at appropriate pace. (all but last 10 episodes) With an intriguing plot with an interesting concept creates for a very good anime. I would consider FMA: Brotherhood the king of the Shonen Genre which is why I rate it a 9/10. However, for guys like me who are not fans of Shonens, and prefer emotionally moving stories with more developed characters, then you are better off watching the original FMA. Brotherhood didn't cause me to feel any emotion while watching it. I didn't care about Haughes or Nina when they died. It felt forced. Same with the comedy in this show while its the same as the original, it was much more repetitive and frequent thus becoming annoying and forced. So I would say this show is an 8/10 for people like me. Overall a 9 because its the best in its genre.

Welcome to the NHK is a solid anime but not a masterpiece as many others on here have suggested.

The story follows a social awkward hikikamori, named Sato, who dropped out of college and shut himself in doors. Its very consistent at the beginning of the series with this characteristic but does get redundant and more of a joke then anything towards the end of the season. The rest of the cast is strong with in depth characters all with internal struggles which are beautifully illustrated throughout the series.

The show has many story arcs all of which take 2-4 episode to complete. There isn't ... much of a conclusion by the end of the story. The show just abruptly ends. It could have very easily ended at any point. Which definitely is not a bad thing but don't come into expecting some epic jaw dropping conclusion. Its a show that you can just pick up really at any point and watch a couple of episodes and have a fun time.

The enjoyment factor was really high at the beginning. But the story did become less exciting (and predictable) in the later half. And for this reason I had to bring the initial 9/10 score I would have given it, down to an 8. There was one emotionally intensive episode in the middle of the season that really brought the show to a climax which was WAY too soon.

Overall a solid 8/10 I had a blast watching it. Come in expecting laughter, sadness, and cringe worthiness. Because this series his all right out of the park.

So what makes Black Lagoon so good? The characters! All very well developed with distinct and entertaining personalities. They compliment each other very well. They all had their role in the Black Lagoon Company. I found myself watching this series more to see how the characters would interact with the plot more than the plot itself. The ending was great settling the on-going dispute throughout the series between Rock and Revy.

The only short coming to this series is its episodic nature. This show would have really benefited with another overarching story that super cedes these missions the Black Lagoon goes on. For ... this reason I cannot put it up with the great masterpieces of anime but just under it with a 9.

While this anime was good and excelled in many categories, it still had short comings that kept it from being one of the greatest animes of all time.


The Good: The animation is AMAZING and easily is the most beautiful anime that I've seen. It rivals animated movies from Studio Ghibli. The Characters are all interesting and had well developed back stories and clear motivations. The music was always fitting for the moment and gave a sense of awe and epicness to the battle scenes.

The Bad: The actual battle scenes between the different masters and servants were great when they were actually ... fighting. The problem this anime suffered from was drawing out battles to talk amongst eachother which really draws from the experience. This is not Naruto or Dragon Ball Z for gods sake. >_< Had they fixed this I would easily give it a 9.

Overall: Good story, great character development, and stunning animation however the battle scenes while managing to be amazing at time are undermined by characters not shutting up and conversing with eachother. Granted its worse sometimes than others it is a major detraction. It just in my mind ruined all the build up to just talk some more.

This anime is perfection. There is not one thing I would change about it. Watch the English dub rather than subs because the voice actors do a phenomenal job. It is 74 episodes long. Many series struggle as they become longer to maintain quality and story progression, but Monster laughs at these series and manages to progress the story and characters in EVERY episode. There is ZERO filler.

The story follows a neurosurgeon who faces a huge moral dilemma. The decision he makes impacts the remainder of his life and haunts him throughout the series. Due to the sheer amount of what happens in ... the early episodes I really do not want to spoil anymore. Take my word for it though it will keep you interested and wanting to more. The suspense of this show is intense!

If you are looking for a psychological thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat every episode, then look no further. Monster is dark, gritty, and complex. It is hands down the BEST anime I have ever seen.

Mushishi is not my cup of tea. It's not a bad show. And in fact the music in the show is GREAT. Some of the best music I have heard in any anime period. The problem I found with the show is the lack of progression. There was nothing that drew to my seat wanting more. Every episode felt more or less the same. The Mushi Master visits those infected with 'Mushi' (or spirits if you will) and he has to figure out how to cure them. It's an exciting concept and I wish the series had a cast of reoccuring characters rather than just ... one main character. It would have been a lot better.

But if you are looking for a relaxing show that is episodic nature. Has good story telling but no real character progression. You can just sit down and enjoy the beauty of Mushi Shi.

The first episode I was like "DAMN this show is going to be amazing". It really had so much potential with the way it went but it had horrendous execution. I really don't like spoiling key plot points as the mystery in the beginning is what's supposed to draw you in. It did for me until it was bottled down with very slow pacing and irritating characters. Also it unnecessarily throws around naked chics which might seem cool at first but it gets old very quickly. I did not like this fan fair one bit.

Overall I would say pass on this anime. But if ... you can forgive the slow pacing and simply irritating characters, it might end up with a satisfying conclusion. I could not make it through it though.
