I can see what you mean- Berserk was also made right before the advent of computer animation, and maybe it was a surprise hit at the time, thus the budget issues. I'd hardly call Pokemon a quality animation though...
Anyways, at least you bother to watch some classics- a lot of users on here do have that mentality of "old is crap", and it couldn't be more false. I had one kid tell me that anything made before 2005 was garbage based solely on animation. Nevermind that the style differs from studio to studio and that there are plenty of shows/movies made before then that look better than some new ones, but that's beside the point. :P
ufotable, best animation? There're many anime yet to see, young grasshopper. Also, just because an anime is old doesn't automatically mean the animation is garbaggio. You ever seen Akira? Wicked City? Lots of fantastic animation from the 80s, much of it from Madhouse.
Curious to ask, why did you say FMA:B has little character development? A main factor that contributes to it being ranked #1 on MAL is because every character is developed in excruciating detail. Literally like every single side character has as much development as Main characters in 12/13 episode anime.
I'm just curious how you wouldn't call the character development and the stories for them "good"
