There is the saying that one should never judge a book by its cover, and I think there are few shows that demonstrate that as well as “Made is Abyss” which is a beautiful manga adaptation by studio Kinema Citrus with amazing music and world that are sure to immerse and stun anyone watching.

story that is being told. When it comes to shows where the most important aspect is exploration, animation and art-style is especially and as said above “Made in Abyss” shines in this department. In addition, when fights or action occurs it’s really well animated and produces really amazing sequences.
However, as it impressive as it may seem, animation and world design are arguably not the reason the show is so special or amazing. The characters world building and the interaction between them is what, for me, makes “Made in Abyss” such a strong and great show. The emotion, hardships and struggles that almost all characters went or go through are very well developed and written. It gets even more powerful when it contrasts the harsh, brutal and cruel world with the beautiful and innocent-looking art-style and world surrounding the characters.
Overall, the elegance and awesome aspect of “Made in Abyss” is how they were able to adapt and tell a story so beautiful and breath-taking but also cruel and harsh reality of venturing into the abyss…

As an anime watcher Isekai is something that you simply cannot avoid. And personally, despite the potential and very good aspects that the genre has, it has been getting way too over-saturated, leaving few show that are actually different or good enough to give a try… And that’s the case for the manga adaptation by studio AtelierPontdarc – “Isekai Ojisan”.
One of the many unique aspects of this show is its animation. Since is animated by a studio with very little number of works the animation is in fact a breath of fresh air and maybe a gateway to the studio
...
to make a stance in the anime landscape. The expressions, powers, characters and situations really get elevated through the rough but captivating art-style. The usage of different art-styles depending on the situation is also a really nice detail that don’t get to see that often.
However, what really makes this show worth watching is the meta-approach that they take on the Isekai genre. Not forgetting that this is a parody show, “Isekai Ojisan” really takes the generic Isekai tropes and even the Isekai parodies tropes and raises them one more level. The writing of the characters and situations are fun to watch and enjoyable, not all jokes deliver or are unique but has a very good ratio and you won’t end an episode without cracking once or finding, at least, a situation or sketch different and smartly set up.
Overall, “Isekai Ojisan” is not a comedy masterpiece or one of the greats in the genre, but it does a lot of good and refreshing things, be it animation wise or meta comedy in steroids, it is sure to be an enjoyable and fun time.

Nowadays after the disastrous release of “Cyberpunk 2077” by CD Projekt Red, it’s hard to get on board with an animation that not only shares the name with the game but also wasn’t something the game developing studio didn’t have a hand in. However, there should be credit where credit is due and, together with studio TRIGGER, they produced one of the most exciting, fun and well written and animated action shows I’ve seen a while…
It is enough to watch the trailer to realise that TRIGGER pulled all the stops for this production. The over-the-top action with gory and brutal
...
sequences of events really matches with the environment and world around it. The fights are very well animated and exciting to watch, not only because of the animation quality but, since the world revolves around augments and implants, you can never tell what’s going to happen and it allows for certain level of creativity and sequences that you don’t often see in normal action shows.
But then again, today’s anime landscape is not lacking in well animated action-packed shows… And this is where I think “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners” got the upper-hand and why it is being so well received: the writing. In years of watching anime, I can count in two hands actions shows that in 10 episodes were able to produce a well written story and characters that develop and grow along the show. Of course, the plot is not super intricate and that some characters don’t really have time to grow in us or makes us care like other shows, but to reach the level that it did in a fraction of episodes it takes other shows, if not doing it better, is very impressive and indisputable proof of amazing writing and pacing skills.
To top it all off, the atmosphere and music in this show is really well done. Almost all the tracks in this anime hit hard, and along with a very fleshed out surroundings and scenes, makes the viewer immersed in the world almost feeling a part of it. So… if you are looking for an amazing show with awesome brutal fights and banger music, I guess CD Projekt Red came through and delivered a strong option for you!

Being one of the favourite shows of the anime community, “Kaguya-sama: Love is War” is an all-time great romantic comedy that took the genre to new hights. And being one of A-1 Pictures flagship anime adaptation, they keep outdoing themselves each season.
One of the problems when it comes to comedy in anime is that some of the tropes and punchlines become overused and the sarcastic and meta jokes get also not so funny really quick. However, the art-style and scenes that A-1 Pictures are able to create helps every episode deliver be it in comedy or serious moments. The animation

and creativity of the setups and situations that arise are what makes this show so captivating and enjoyable to watch.
In addition, the cast of characters was very well developed put together in a way where it is really hard to not like at least one of them, something that in priceless when you consider that the characters, and their decisions and action, are what make the show so damn good. The pacing is well done and helps the audience to appreciate and get invested in the world and characters surrounding the MC’s.
All things said, “Kaguya-sama: Love is War” is probably one of the best in the genre with a legendary set of characters that are exciting and fun to watch deal with their problems and dilemmas. Plus, the narrators voice and lines are simply amazing.

People just like to see the world burn and some shows are made to see the anime community burn, and that is “Domestic Girlfriend”, a manga adaptation with studio Diomedéa behind the animation, in a nutshell. And what can go wrong with a plot that can be described as: double stepsisters – teacher & classmate love triangle.
However, there is a time for everything and as such, let’s start with the animation. Since the premiss of the show is all about people and their relationships and dynamics should not be a surprise that, even far from peak animation, “Domestic Girlfriend” does
...
have a pretty decent not only characters design and animation but overall good sequences that enhance the tense or decisive moments.
That said it is not because of the animation department where this show got so much attention, controversy or praise, even. “Domestic Girlfriend” is the show that it is because of how its characters are written and developed throughout the story and is by far the biggest strength of the show. Despite the, for mainly western audience, outlandish premiss, the characters and their dynamics with each other and actions feel mature and thought out and not the ridiculous, almost senseless, standard in romance and harem genre. We get invested in them as characters and feel the relief or tension when the show build up or has its climax which makes it a very memorable show.
This is not to say that it is an outstanding drama show or one of the best, but because of the iconic premiss and how well and controversial it was developed and evolved, it ended up being one of the most engaging and exciting to watch dumpster fire drama.

Dance related shows are always a treat for me and rarely are they not an enjoying experience and “Dance Dance Danseur” was not the one to break that trend. It is a manga adaptation with studio MAPPA in charge of the animation.
As one might expect, at this point, MAPPA didn’t disappoint in terms of animation quality. In a show revolving around movement and dancing sequences, it is probably the main focus to have amazing animation and amazing it was. The fluid and natural movements that the characters perform were a sight to behold and made it so that whoever is
...
watching to be almost absorbed by the atmosphere and feel of the scenes being portrait. The precision and charm of the characters really matched well with ballet and was really pleasing to watch.
The characters however is what really strengthens the show overall quality. The main character in Jumpei is a breath of fresh air in terms of attitude and personality among recent protagonist, in a cast that is on average pretty unique and well written. The story is not very complex, but the emotions and ambitions of the characters make it really investing almost to the point of falling on sport’ shows trap of making a way too big of a deal about small things like a tournament.
As a result, if you are looking for a good way to get into or enjoy ballet and its competitions aspect, or simply just like to see the characters grow and develop as they struggle with their own problems and traumas, it is a really good show. Plus, the opening is really good so that’s a pretty good bonus.

Sometimes there are some shows in a season that are so good that are able to leave the incognito status it begins the season with. And “Paripi Koumei”, an adaptation done by P.A. Works studio, is one of the latest additions to that list.
Animation wise, the show has a really good balance and overall colourful feel to it, which since it develops in the busy and crazy streets of Shibuya, helps a lot with the night-life atmosphere and palette. On the other end, the music production of the show is amazing, and it makes it so people can truly appreciate
...
the songs in the show and the whole set of instruments behind it. Unfortunately, I personally think that could have been a bigger pool of songs used and one or two more scenes of that calibre of music production, but in no way it disappoints.
However, if there was a stand out aspect of this show, is the characters and their development along the story. “Paripi Koumei” was able to present an extraordinary set of characters that not only feel very real and down-to-earth but have struggles and flaws that people can resonate with and sympathize as well. In addition, the way the main duo bounce of each other and with the supporting cast is really wholesome and fun making that much more gratifying when they overcome some difficulties and grow as people.
Overall, if you are looking for a wholesome, exciting and almost informative show about the struggles of being an upcoming music artist, with awesome character writing, music production and one of the best openings in recent times, then you’ve come to the right MAL page.
