As you already expect, yeah these both give you a harem anime with some drama. Their good point is the MC isn't indecisive. The different is H2O, well, lemme just say H2O is more tense (serious) here.

Both talks about how hobbyists (or chuuni) face their surroundings. To give us a view how chuuni see and face their environment, also how their environment threat them. Both of them got drama but chuunibyou gives us more romance because of the characters' relationship's development.

I absolutely don't talk about story similarities here. But both these series got the same Character face and CG use. It's just like Shirobako is 1 level above but in the same path.

I would like to say that the similarities about these anime is the view angle and the slide scene of the anime while the story is going. they bot got fast slide and even get many scene with only a few moves. the different is nekomonogatari got a smoother art style than mekaku. i wouldn't say it better cuz i believe as a mekaku fan, mekakucity actors has its own style. and i probably like it more.

They both SoL-School genre that strongly consist of music. They both got unique way to show us how music relates the relationship of the Characters. They both consist of Romance, and have their own love problem. the difference is White Album 2 is just a solid triangle love while Sakamichi no Apollon more complicated

And both got the same kind of another world. they both also try to exploring the another world both in terrain and culture. The different is Outbreak Company is more Comedy-Parody, and Gate more politics-Military.
