-Set in a rural village -Thriller/mystery/Supernatural -Bunch of shitty annoying characters: if you like this point, you'd like both anime. Both are worth watching for their life morals especially Shiki but both can really push your patience as the characters' level of annoyance is beyond one's imagination

In Higurashi, I was like " who's the next killer?" or "I wonder who's next to die heuheuehue" . But in Kai, I started to like the characters and cheer for them wishing to not be hurt or not to die again which is I why I chose the 2nd season of Higurashi in this recommendation. The same goes for Shinsekai Yori, at first you don't about the people in the story but they'll eventually grow on you, atleast that's the case for me. Both anime have great suspence, amazing developments, and mind puzzling stories.

The main difference between these two is the sport; One is about competitive dancing, the other is about boxing. But while reading the 1st chapter of Ballroom e youkoso, the first thing that came in my mind is Ippo. Not poor nor rich mcs; both haven't decided of what they're going to do aftee highschool; bullied; get saved by great sportsmen (Takamura-Sengoku) who both would their 'senpai-sensei' (Idk, how should I describe it :V) in that particular sport; after got saved, both mc were brought to the (boxing-dancing) gym and were given a video which sparked their interest on that sport; Bullies started to see the metamorphosis or the 2 great mcs and consequently stopped harassing them; etc The developments and intensity of their different competitions are also quite similar.

Both have romance which never continued; Slow pacing; Both male main protagonist don't want to forget their love yet try their best to move on; Great art (Being a movie, I think 5 cm has the better animation); Metaphorical
