It's just Tenma delusion, Tenma just talking to himself. Yes, Johan died after Tenma failed to do surgery on him, haha. He already shot once in the head you know, It's make sense if a person can die after get shot in the head twice.

Erased is overall good series despise many plot hole, It's just failed to deliver the hype of many viewers in the beginning.

Haha nice explanation, yes monster always leave a HUGE EMPTY FEEL after you finished watching/reading it, that's the kind of masterpiece that is. You need to rewatch it to fully understand how the story goes.

Haha, I think Johan was already dead when the drunkard father shot him in his head.
1. Johan died
2. Tenma failed to save him in the surgery but Tenma have very complex problem with Johan, so he can't believe he's dying. Expecially after Nina forgive him and Tenma didn't want to kill him anymore.
3. Tenma can't believe Johan die so he has delusion
4. The last scene with Johan is only his delusion

Haha, that's my theory it's up to you to believe or not. You can't find it anywhere, even Naoki Urasawa deliberately didn't explain the ending.

About pandora hearts I actually didn't watch the anime so I don't know if the adaptation bad or not, but the anime didn't cover the whole chapter for sure.

There aren't any anime that have the same level as HxH, that's all I can say. But I have some series that came close to that.

I think we have very similiar taste, we both scored only FMAB, S-Gate, and HxH'11 10/10 (with additional Slam Dunk for you). So I think I can recommend you the others series that I scored 10 too.

All of them are mangas, because there aren't any anime that can match HxH except FMAB :
1. One Piece (I didn't know you already watched it or not since it's really popular, try the manga only for marathoned)
2. Vinland Saga (manga only, still ongoing)
3. Monster (You can try the anime too since you don't mind old animation)
4. Pandora Hearts (don't watch the anime, just read the manga)
5. 20th Century Boys (manga only)

That's all that I can recommend to you, all of them are the real masterpieces.

Well, If you don't mind old animation, older HxH is really worth watching. The beginning of Hunter exam arc was much detailed and darker than the '11 version, expecially when Killua ripped John the Ripper heart. And what make the older version much better was the opening and ending, I fuckin love Ohayou and Kaze no Uta than boring Departure, departure, and departure...lol

Okay, you should watch it then.
