The premise seems almost obvious, but I don't think this has actually been done before. What I love most about this anime is that every single one of the characters is so loveable, including all of the side characters (in my opinion) which isn't often the case in romance and shoujo anime. Often the female protagonist starts off alright and gradually becomes pathetic; her entire personality becomes liking the guy she likes, but Risa was really strong and confident and seemed very much an equal to Ootani, whilst still showing tons of emotion and being honest about her feelings for him. It was such an ... emotional rollercoaster with an amazing conclusion. It also didn't try to develop too many characters.

SPOILER: The one thing I didn't understand was near the end of the anime where there were a couple of episodes about Risa "cheating". She didn't really do anything massively wrong but it was really uncomfortable, especially with the way it affected Ootani, and it was completely unnecessary as I see it. They could've easily just broken up because Ootani wanted to focus on studying. They resolve it as if that was the only issue all along anyway.

Overall, this show isn't anything new or contraversial, but if you enjoy shoujo highschool romcom, I personally think this is the number 1 best of the genre. I highly recommend it - don't be put off by its age.
