Then drama happens, with a story filled with twists and turns, with most of the problems happening because the guy is really stupid.

Makura no Danshi

These two anime may be some of the deepest in existence, filled to the brim with plot and emotions. These two masterpieces of anime let you pretend you're sleeping by a cute person. In Hinako it's a cute girl, in Makura no Danshi it's one of many cute boys. Really, you can't get much better than this.

Umi Monogatari: Anata ga Ite Kureta Koto

Both are slow-paced magical girl anime that concentrate more on slice-of-life and coming-of-age than actual fighting. They concentrate on a close relationship between two girls, with one of those girls being a supernatural girl who suddenly appeared in the normal girl's life one summer day. Even the endings are pretty similiar, too.

Both are non-yaoi adaptions of yaoi games from the same company, as someone somewhere thought that was a good idea. Being from the same company, they both have several things similiar. Some sort of slightly dystopia world, some sort of game. Akira and Aoba, the main characters of these two anime, more or less have the same exact backstory. A few of the characters are also similiar. And both of these shows have absolutely terrible animation.

Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica
add

Both of these shows start out pretty innocent and sweet, but early on there's a plot twist that completely changes the mood of the show. Both of these anime are also famous deconstructions. Madoka deconstructs magical girl anime while School Days deconstructs the harem genre. Both of these shows are worth checking out if you like dark anime.

Another
add

In a remote village in Japan before the great internet age, a group of high schoolers find themselves at the center of a series of mysterious deaths. They must find out how to survive and stop the deaths. Both of these series also have terrible communication between friends causing most of the drama. Especially in Another where the whole plot could be solved in three episodes if everyone just talked to each other. However, if you like a suspenseful atmosphere and violet, sometimes silly deaths, then try out both of these interesting anime.

Selector Infected WIXOSS
add

Both shows star a cute innocent girl who joins a battle of some sort to get a wish granted, even though she doesn't really have a wish. It turns out that this battle is even more dangerous than it seems as the mascots of the shows are keeping secrets. What follows next is a psychological thriller about cute girls making friends and having terrible things happen to those friends. WIXOSS even tries to rip off Madoka's ending until going for a "screw you, we have more planned" thing.

They both have a thin line between what is real and what is fake, where the protagonist begins to wonder just who they are. If you like shows where you can't tell the difference between what's real and what is just a dream or a trippy sequence that was put in for symbolism, these are the shows for you.

These both start out as your typical 2004 harem anime, being all slice-of-life and happy and oh, look, a love triangle, how creative. However, all the sudden, BLAM supernatural. Then the show gets much darker.

What could've been. If you want to see how you fail an anime adaption then watch these two anime. Granted I've never read Pupa but I have heard that the anime mixes up events in the manga making it incomprehensible. In Litchi DE Club's case, they turned one of the best manga ever, which was filled with psychological and horror, into your typical mediocrity comedic shorts anime. It would've been better for the world if these two anime never existed.

add

Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka? is so much like Kiniro Mosaic it's almost scary. The character designs are very similar, and several characters share the same personality, mainly Cocoa (Gochuumon) being a carbon copy of Shino and Rize being a more badass version of Ayaya. They both give off that fluffy atsmosphere with Kiniro doing a better job of it, but they're both still worth a watch if you're a slice-of-life fan.

15 normal kids lives are suddenly turned upside-down when either they pilot a robot to save the Earth, dying after piloting said robot, or being thrown into a high school run by a talking bear where the only way to get out is by killing someone. As you can tell, a lot of people die in both of these anime. They have themes of hope versus despair and despite having 25 main characters, it gives each of them a great personality. Bokurano takes itself way more seriously than Danganronpa, but they're both good anime- Trust me.

"Someone out there is fighting for you." Both Black Rock Shooter and Madoka Magica have this similar moral to them. However, they both also have cool battles and hints of yuri in them. And who doesn't like cool battles and hints of yuri? Sure both of these shows get a little messy in the end, but when they're good, they're really good.
