I saw your little conversation with ZephSilver, so I decided to share my own thoughts regarding the motivation to keep watching anime
What my man Zeph said below me, I can actually agree with, for the most part.. However, I’ve actually grown bored to most live-action TV shows and films nowadays, not gonna lie, and also cause I just simply lost the incentive and interest to watch them. So I do try to watch previously aired anime shows or films to keep fueling up my interest and love for anime, though with binging long ass shows, that’s not exactly so easy.
The only real live-action show I watch nowadays is the sports show NBA on TNT, or otherwise called Inside The NBA, because the main cast is hella funny and often the three black guys will ramble about stuff unrelated to a particular basketball topic for a good several minutes on air xD.
As for western films, it depends on whether or not it has animated mechas or fantasy creatures like dragons (it’s be an insta-buy-in for me xD)....otherwise I’m not usually interested.
I actually do the seasonal viewing because I don’t want to be THAT guy living under a rock hiding from current stuff, but it’s more so because I do manage a personal YouTube channel for anime reactions, and videos of reactions to seasonal anime are the only things that are gonna get any significant number of views, unless we talking about the Monogatari series or something.
Of course, I think everyone has moments like that. I think it's probably for the better if you take a break from the medium and venture into checking out live-action movies and TV shows, as well as reading novels etc. Diversifying what story of storytelling medium you consume helps alleviate that feeling. I always do this.
Also, and this is probably more important, you need to break the seasonal viewing habits. Watching titles on a yearly released basis is never going to satisfy your curiosity for the medium. I know you want to be a part of the bigger conversation like everyone else. But keep in mind that that kind of mentality usually degrades into a rate race to see things rather than enjoying the act of viewing anime to begin with. Watching titles of yesteryear usually helps me out in that aspect. I'm never bored because I always seek out works that aren't a part of this kind of rat race mentality, allowing me to always find new favorites and shows to cherish. In fact, having cut down on the number of seasonals I watch and increase the amount of shows I watch from past years has caused my average mean score to go up .17 points in only 2 months.
But above all else, take breaks, get some fresh air. Stop treating media as something you HAVE to consume and only watch/read things when you yourself find enjoyment in the act.
Never did but I just added it to my watchlist. I've been seeing it floating around lately. I don't know when I'll get to it but hey, at least it's on my radar now.

Practicing these 3 things should help.
