They both have laid-back male main characters and demanding female ones. There are a few mysteries to solve and the characters grow over the course of the story. I believe that "Hyouka" is definitely the better of the two, but "Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru." was enjoyable as well.

They both are online gaming series. However, Accel World stays solid to the very end plot-wise, Sword Art Online falls apart halfway through. Also, the MC is at first weak in Accel World while Sword Art Online's MC is one of the elite.

They both deal with an "online" community. However, Accel World is darker in nature and more of a "game" while Summer Wars is a bit more cheerful and more of a provider for different life needs... gps, shopping, etc.

They both revolve around school life. The main protagonists are a boy and girl who are always trying to best the other. The girl, no matter how hard she tries, can never trump him. However, this does not stop her from persevering to try to accomplish the impossible.
