For context I gave season one a 9/10, I loved it, hilarious stuff. But there is only so much non-progression I can take. Yes, it continues to have some very funny moments, but from the first ep to the last, we don't move an inch plot wise. So then I have to ask myself, why am I watching?
They do try to give a bit more depth and backstory so some of the side student council members, but this actually was even less enjoyable to watch as it had even less to do with the main romance plot. It's like they'll show us anything BUT main ... plot progression.

Will I watch season 3? Yes. But thats because I'm unemployed at the moment. Should you? If you like plot progression, probably not.

Unless you're also unemployed.

A show with such off pacing. Interesting premise, takes a while to take off, eventually picks up, and then utterly fails the landing.

First couple episodes are pretty standard, if not a bit dull. Sword Art Online rip off. Except in this story, the main character is an extremely unlikeable shut-up (though this is done on purpose, I think it only made me feel nothing towards him).

The twist in episode 6 was insane. It's rare that a show in this genre actually shocks me with a twist I didn't see coming at all. I was invested to watch until the end at this point.

But then the ... second half of the show does nothing with this twist, and it kinda just falls into 'big battle as town is destroyed' trope at the end. It also tries to have some emotional father/son moments, which ALMOST work but the fact the main character is still unlikeable kept me from enjoying them. It doesn't earn any of the emotional payoff it's attempting to do becasue I feel nothing for any of the characters or haven't been invested enough in the 'dead sister' storyline.

Also the BAD HAIRLINE REVEAL at the end with the brothers is insane I laughed outloud. An insane thing to include.

Bare with me, for I have such a weird opinion of this series.
I really enjoyed it. The characters, the humour, the story - all kept me enganged right until the end. Funny thing is, I really couldn't give a shit about the food/cooking aspect of this show. "But Finn!", I hear you cry, "That's one of the core premises of the show! If you hated that wouldn't you hate the whole thing then?". Good question. No. Thats how much I enjoyed the characters and plot. I personality believe this should COULD have been a 10/10 if they had focused on the world building rather then ... cusine building, but, even though they didn't, the show still gets an 7.5/10 from me (rounded up to an 8).

I will admit an aspect of my enjoyment probably game from the fact I could binge it, I'm not sure I'd like it as much if I had to wait a week for each episode. This also allowed me to +10 seconds all the cooking bits (maybe thats cheating, but it didn't affect my score drastically).

So YES I reccomend even if you're not into food, maybe just be prepared to skip 30 seconds each episode.

And if you are into food? Well you'll bloody love this.

If you got 'Nichijou' and made it all about Romance, you'd get this show - which is mostly a good thing.
But, this shows best aspect is also it's biggest downfall. It's set up as a bunch of little 5 minute scenes surrounding couples at the begining of their relationships.

The Good: Its funny, fast paced, essentially the 'best-of' aspects of a normal rom-com. It's snappy and to the point, no "will they won't they" which usually kills a lot of shows for me. And if you're not liking a scene it'll be over in 3mins they're so snappy. Majority of the stories I enjoyed (probably about ... %80).

The Bad: When the stories are so short, it doesn't leave much room for any growth or development. It's like showing you the first 5min of a really good movie. You're just like "Yeah...and then what happens???" the whole time. The stakes are so low because the set-up doesn't allow for any depth more then surface level. I just finished it and I wouldn't be able to tell you a single characters name.

I still reccomend it as it's so easy to watch and so short. But don't expect to use any braincells here.

I really really tried y'all. But this anime simply is NOT for western english speakers. It looks nice, characters seem cool, but this one simply ain't for us. It is such a Japanese-dialouge based show with such specific language and culture references. And no, neither sub NOR dub with help you here.
To be clear; I don't think this is written badly. If you can speak Japanese go ahead I legitimately think you'll love it.

Rating if I was Japanese and understood the complexities of their language and got all the culture references: 10/10 I'm sure.
Rating if I was white boy from Australia: 4/10.

Also, heard it gets ... pretty liberal with it's depiction of young girls in the show so...

The art continues to be phenomenal. Now that that's out of the way:
There are three huge issues that are not-forgiveable with both this season AND last season of Demon Slayer.

1. Fights should not legally exceed 5+ episodes. You cannot simply carry the momentum that far and keep topping the last move which was allegedly the strongest (it wasn't).

2. You CANNOT take a 20 MINUTE PAUSE, MID-FIGHT, to tell us the backstory of the person who is fighting. TELL US BEFOREHAND. I DONT CARE ABOUT THIS PERSON NOW. TOO LATE. NOW YOU'VE RUINED THE PACING OF THE FIGHT.

3. This is an anime classic.: the deus ex ... machina. Just randomly at the end, pulling a twist out of nowhere which saves everyone. "Oh she actually didn't die because the whole time she was immune to that but she's only realised just now that's why we just told you". It's so unearned. There are now no stakes. The main characters are gods I never think for a second they're going to die.

Look, I may continue watching, purely because it takes 0 brain cells and I can be on my phone and not miss a thing. But the first season was pretty good, I really was hoping for more.

I don't think anime in general does the romance genre well at all but I gave this one a shot.
I REALLY wanted to like this. They said this one was the best of it's genre, that it did everything all the other school-romance animes didn't do.
Well uh - that was a lie.

To get the good out of the way:
- sound & art are all good
- the dialogue isn't the *worst*, probably on the better side then most but still could be a lot better
- the characters are probably the only thing that this show excels at. I really liked the main dude and was ... rooting for him to win the entire time. He wasn't the sad awkward loser a lot of these shows tend to go for - he was likeable and still had areas for his character to grow in.

Now the bad:
- Like some others have said, the shows entire storyline is clear from ep3. The two main characters are trying to be each other’s wingman/woman BUUUUT like each other the whole time, what a surprise. You're essentially just waiting 22 episodes for them to actually just communicate that with each other.
- Main girl swings from likeable to very annoying from episode to episode.
- The main dudes love interest is one of my favourite characters in the show - so i was REALLY rooting for them to work out. But as mentioned above it was clear where the storyline was going so I was just getting annoyed the more the show went on. They could have at least made her not as likeable so I wasn't as annoyed in the end.

It is incredible how bad all of these shows fuck up this genre. It’s not this hard. Ugh.

I don't often watch high school anime but this one had an interesting premise so I gave it a shot.
I will be including the 4-part sequel OVA in this review NO spoilers though.

The good:
- It has a great set-up. First couple episodes had me invested.
- I liked the jazzy style soundtrack, stood out a bit which was nice.
- The entire ensemble of characters are the highlight of the show - all very likeable and were the main thing that kept me going to finish the series.

The bad:
- I'm not expecting a super dramatic story but really, nothing happens for 13(+4) ... episodes. Just lots of boring misunderstandings that would be fixed if the characters just COMMUNICATED what they THOUGHT. You already know what's going to happen and you're simply just waiting for them to tell each other what you as a viewer already know.
- The romance side, like many other high school anime, is not worth your time. It's clear from day one who's who and the rest of the show is very much just waiting for them to confesses (they hug by the last episode, incredible). Boring & annoying.
- Specific to the 4-part sequel - the budget must have dropped because the animation quality is SHOCKING. I don't usually care but honestly - EVERY single background character was just a silhouette. Completely took me out of it laughing about it.

Look, if you like high school animes, this is like the rest of them. It's fine. Starts very strong and goes downhill.

It had been a couple years since I'd seen the first season (which I very much liked) and I finally got around to watching this.

Lets get the good out of the way:
- The art & sound are great.
- The *majority* of characters continue to be fun, enjoyable and interesting to watch (with nice relationships between them which change & progress throughout the season).
- The fights are definitely the highlight, nicely animated and keep things changing - if fights are all you look for in a show you'll like this one.

Now the bad:
- The writing is atrocious. Like I don't expect much ... from anime, but this is BAD. Just blatant exposition, repeating of the same line over & over, and horrible last minute story elements which have clearly just been thrown in to add more things for the characters to do.
- The story is nonsensical. This whole season feels like an after-thought. The first season was tied up so nicely but here they UNDO so much of it in order to create more story. There is so much of "Oh remember that thing from last season? Well it was actually THIS the entire time"
- I hated Elisibeth last season and by god she's worse in this one. Just so stupid & needy and really drags down the otherwise perfect ensemble.

Look, if you love the characters and the fights, give it a watch but DON'T be expecting a good story.
It's the type of show I don't totally regret watching, but I definitely won't be watching the next season.
Shame.

It is weird how a such with such an interesting synopsis and world, could be this boring.

- The plot line for this show sounded fascinating to me and I jumped at the chance to watch it. And whilst it did deliver everything it promised...it was incredibly boring. The world itself was extremely interesting and creative. It presented this scenario and all these questions started to pop up in my mind like "who are they and why are they here?" but even though by then end of the show these questions were answered, I think I fell asleep twice during it. It takes talent to present ... such an interesting story in such a boring way it makes you sleep.

- Art and Sound were very good, nothing to comment on.

- After much thought, I think its the characters to blame all this dullness on. But even still I'm not too sure. The main was a bit cliche and the main supporting girl character was also nothing special...in fact, I don't think any character was really memorable. The antagonist was kind of interesting but even still I don't think he really got to show his true colours till one of the very ending scenes (which was setting up a second season).

This show really, REALLY, confuses me. It has all the ingredients of a great show, but just isn't, and is in fact is really really boring. Whilst the characters are quite dull I'm not sure if they're entirely to blame but I just can't put my damn finger on it.
If you're looking for an interesting world and premise and can sit through 12 episodes to explore it, go ahead and watch it. Otherwise, maybe just read the wiki synopsis of each episode?
