Finally!
After a long hiatus, bone daddy is back in full swing with Overlord IV.
I can't say enough good things about season 4 already.
1. The increased budget is fantastic and I especially like how they're hand animating more of the characters that would have fallen prey to CGI jail in the prior seasons.
2. The opening fuckin rocks. This is one of the few shows where the OP and ED literally don't miss.
3. The content that its adapting from the LN is arguably my favorite part of the series, and unlike some I'm not upset about volume 14 being adapted as I believe that it
...
makes sense to do when you have the movie coming out soon. (Don't wanna go into specfics of spoilers for anime onlys)
This is shaping up to be my favorite season and the show has really finally come into it's peak with season 4. Hats off to Madhouse, for both bringing us a fourth season and making it as true to the source material as possible.

Finally an isekai that doesn't fall into the category of "show Ill watch and instantly forget about".
For some reason now a lot of isekai just assume you already know whats goin on with the genre and what to expect and skip a lot of the groundwork that makes a good show even though its such a low bar.
Half of the time you're thrown into an isekai where the main character doesn't think for a second about how they got there or why, much less expressing any emotion over it, and then the plot will start with little to no real good introduction or background.
...
This show is a very refreshing return to normalcy with what I think isekais should be.
The main character has a compelling background that makes sense and pretty quickly creates a sense of connection with the viewer, and his background leads to his reincarnation into another world via death by overwork. (Not a truck!)
He actually has to process and figure out what has happened to him as well as the backstory of the person he has now taken over in the new world. The people around him notice his change in personality and don't just go with it like so many other shows (or light novels if you're deep into the isekai trash like myself) neglect.
The combination of actual repercussions of being literally fucking reincarnated actually manifest in this show, which seriously sells the "breath of fresh air" opinion that I hold about it.
Is it an amazing show? I wouldn't say that. However is it worth a watch? Absofuckinlutely. Only 3 episodes in and I can tell this is going to be ranking higher than most in my list of isekais I enjoy. If you enjoy the worldbuilding and ripple effect of taking over another human body in a parallel world, definitely give this a watch!

NO SPOILERS!
Solo leveling is just like going to your favorite restaurant and getting the same thing you always order, never to be disappointed.
You already know what you're in for, you know what to expect, but it doesn't change the fact that you're still going to order that same thing every time you go there.
Solo leveling may not have a lot of new things to bring to the table in terms of the usual "mmo style isekai fantasy inspired" media, but it does everything spectacularly.
A lot of people say the story is repetitive and does the same thing over and over, but honestly that
...
doesn't bother me in the slightest. That's exactly what I expect from Solo Leveling and its exactly what I get!
The action is badass, the vertical scrolling style is fantastic and its something I've personally never seen before and I seriously enjoyed it. The battles and action sequences are very well designed with this layout in mind, and it does a lot of seriously cool shit with it.
The artwork is insane. Really. Its beautiful. Part of what got me to get through the beginning of the story (which isn't inherently bad, just a bit of a slow ramp up) was how incredible the artwork is! Being able to scroll through amazingly colored and detailed pages seemingly forever really had an appeal to me, and I was increasingly impressed as the story progressed. It helps to suck you in and make you pause on some pages longer than you'd expect just to survey the details in the illustration.
The storyline I really enjoyed. If you appreciate the other aspects of the manga at this point then you'll either enjoy the story, or enjoy everything else enough to stick along for the ride.
Oh you think there's going to be some twist that the main character has to overcome? Nope, he demolished what could have been an arc in a few pages.
Granted the stakes increase as the story progresses, and the characters and their development are fantastic in my opinion. I love the other hunters personalities and abilities and think that it plays off of Sung Jin Woo perfectly.
This is a no compromises power fantasy that knows exactly what you want to see, and ramps it up from there. If you like the OP MC stuff as a bit of a guilty pleasure comfort food like myself, then you'll definitely enjoy this! Give it a shot!

NO SPOILERS!
Hajime No Ippo is truly a masterpiece in my eyes.
Going into this show I had no real experience with sports anime, and I was genuinely skeptical of how this would translate to an anime. Not only that, but I don't watch or follow boxing, or any fighting sports for that matter.
None of that matters when it comes to Hajime No Ippo.
This show is lovingly crafted, and its clearly evident in every aspect.
The openings and background music gets stuck in my head as soon as I hear them. The animation is beautifully fluid and compliments everything about the feeling that the story takes
...
on.
The characters depth and how the develop is unmatched, even when you have a good grasp on common characters actions, the story continues to unfold more nuances about them that make more and more sense as to why they are and how they ended up boxers alongside Ippo.
This show also genuinely has a bit of everything, it seriously makes me laugh out loud, which I can't say about many anime. I shed real tears in multiple episodes, and not always from sadness either. If you're like me the fights will have you standing up and pumping your first from time to time after seeing the wonderfully animated, badass fights unfold in front of you. It even has some romance in it, and really ticks all the boxes.
More than anything, I appreciate how down to earth this show is. It doesn't rely on anything special like powers or magic or abilities, its genuinely just a show about a kid learning to box and loving it. The fights are wonderful and don't need anything extra, the story progression feels natural and not forced, more like watching a stylized depiction of something based on real events than a work of fiction.
This is easily one of the most well rounded and excellent animes I've watched, and I cannot recommend it enough, it doesn't matter if you like boxing or not, give this a shot.

Welcome to Bone Isekai 2.
When I first saw the trailer for this show, I, like many other people, thought it was riding off of overlords popularity and going with a skeleton MC, but I honestly thought that this could go either very well or very poorly.
Unfortunately, its the latter.
The elements of the story are not inherently bad, but the way that they went about presenting them are awful.
1. The main character has almost no depth, as seems to be an issue in general with characters in this show. After being transported to this new world the MC basically just rolls with it
...
in one of the most oddly nonchalant ways I've seen in an isekai, and they don't set up his backstory or motives literally at all. He's a very shallow character who feels more like a way to move the story along than the main character.
2. The rape scenes make zero sense with this series due to its lack of seriousness. It comes off as fuckin weird. The protagonist is happy go lucky but then waits to survey the scene when some chicks are about to be gang raped by bandits. They clearly got this idea from goblin slayer but obviously did not understand the tone of that show and instead just saw this as a way to shock the viewer? Or make Arc look good? Its weird and forced and I'm not a fan.
3. Last but not least, there is quite literally no plot or driving story. Not in the way like mushoku tensei (watch this if you haven't) where the mc is trying to figure out the world and his place in it, but in the sense that the MC literally has no overarching motivation about the storyline. The elf he meets is just more harem fanservice bait, and this show is just disappointment after disappointment.
Overall, this just feels like a show that took a bunch of elements from various popular isekai & fantasy and thought they could come away with something good, but every one of these elements is poorly executed. Im dropping this, do yourself a favor and skip out on this one.

Many people at first glance give this series an eye roll because it came out during a time that the isekai genre was having studios throwing ideas into this format and slogging through the usual tropes.
However, the biggest of these tropes that I find annoying, is already nullified in the first few episodes of Overlord; he has no intent of trying to go back to his old world like some characters are so concerned with in other series. In a way, this almost shifts the show entirely to just a "fantasy show", but the inner dialogue that Momonga (or Ains) maintains throughout the season constantly
...
reminds you he's a salaryman simply flying by the seat of his pants.
Two things that really made this show stand out to me are as follows;
1. Momonga deals with situations in ways that often agree with the viewer, feeling like his decisions are rational and exactly what you would do if you were in his shoes.
2. He is not a good guy, and doesn't try to be. He is forced to take on his role of ruthless and inscrutable leader of Nazarick, leading them towards his ultimate goal since entering the world. The show takes fantastic advantage of this when it comes to world building, showing you whole mini arcs of characters outside of the tomb of nazarick, setting it up the entire time for when they will inevitably encounter Momonga or his associates, and progressing the story from there.
I could go on about positives and aspects I love about this show for a long time, whether its the great soundtrack, the amazing ops and eds, fantastic natural story progression, and plain and simply badass encounters with enemies of Nazarick, but I'll leave it to you to go experience these things for yourself. Watch this show!!!!
Story: 10/10
Art 9/10 (I know a big complaint by some is the CGI but personally I don't mind it at all and don't think it detracts from the show)
Character: 10/10
Overall Enjoyment: 10/10
I've also rewatched the series several times and it still holds up wonderfully. Can't wait for season 4!
