This is one of those manga that I'd recommend but I don't think it's actually good.

TTGL *the manga* is an adaptation of the anime, essentially serving as a recap and promotion of the original show that released before it, the plot is almost identical to the original bit from bit with most minor scenes and character interaction taken out of it in between the major plot points to save time.

the Artwork has an extremely nice look to it that fits Gurren Lagann well, but one of my biggest gripes of this adaptation is the fight scenes.
it's nearly impossible to ... tell what's going on in them half of the time and becomes extremely hard to read. turning it into a slog, it felt like the only way I knew what was going on most of the time was *because* I've already seen the anime.

Character wise is the better place it shines, adding extra tiny details and story moments unique to the manga on top of small 4koma strips at the end of every chapter (Drawn by different well known mangaka) it's what made this manga entirely worth it for me.

it's enjoyable enough to sit through, it'd make a nice manga to own if you like the show. but if you haven't watched Gurren Lagann this is not the place to start.

Now you may be asking me, Fang_Tooth, what IS Canimals? why are you reviewing Canimals, a Korean children's show similar to Bananya about creatures who are part TIN-CAN part ANIMAL? what is this about? is it good? outstanding, even?

well putting it straight if you grew up with children's television in Australia you may indeed know of this show.

Canimals is a nearly completely silent children's show with barely any dialogue whatsoever between the canimals, which can be watched by anyone without subtitles (in the version that aired outside of korea at least, the korean version itself is a tad different)
it's entirely episodic and usually focused on ... a different animal that has an ability to turn into a tin can, which gets used fairly creatively. the show also utilizes 3D animation with live action backgrounds and environments which is really fun.

but as con to being short, it ended up in being a show that was just slotted in-between other things for run time. it never really goes anywhere and even when i was younger i wished there was more to it.
today as an adult i still don't think much of it. it's a perfectly fine cute in-offensive children's show that i rewatch bits of occasionally and you could probably watch it with your family if you wanted.

in summary,
would i recommend Canimals to children? maybe, it's cute.
would i recommend Canimals to adults? maybe, it's creative.
would i recommend Canimals to grandma? hell yeah, it's peak.

Taiho shichau zo, which was named "You're under arrested!" by the Dark horse publishing, (only to have officially published a handful of chapters before dropping the translation altogether) is a fairly light seinen with occasional nudity in a few chapters featuring the two police women, Natsumi and Miyuki going on a episodic romp each chapter, focusing on either capturing a criminal, doing miscellaneous police work, or doing just whatever 1980's anime girls do.

The characters are fairly straight forward, there's Natsumi which is the strong girl who can probably lift a whole truck over her head and throw it over the entire country of Russia, and ... Miyuki who tells off Natsumi for destroying a completely fine working truck, as well as having less strength but more of a brain.
outside of that there's not much else character wise outside of maybe a reoccurring villain or coworker, perhaps the chief of the precinct.

And the art? it's styling. it does the job PEFECTLY. there's high amounts of intricate detail into all the vehicles, if you asked me to think of what a old manga/anime style looks like this is the first thing I think of.

it's a fairly good shot at a actiony manga featuring female leads.
but most of the enjoyment comes from how much you enjoy some of the anime stereotypes, the resolution at times is a bit predictable, it's more so one of those switch your brain off and enjoy short manga, not so much the beginning but further on the chapters get better.
(although as of writing this review the translations both fan and official are incomplete)

It's one of those 'I found this bored, it looks alright and-I-need-to-kill-half-an-hour' kind of manga

A short episodic volume set in the wild west, following the main character and his wacky animal sidekick that's there for some reason as they deal with wacky non western problems such as alchemy, demons and ghosts all while using a prosthetic limb as a gun to deal with them.

There's not much to say about the stories, they're just fine. it's entertaining but because of how crazy they are for a western setting.
most of it is Mordrid getting called to fix a problem or coming across something, he shoots, the day ... is saved.
Of course there's practically no character development to be found and the ending is a bit blunt but it's still decently good

the artwork does the job and has its good moments too, it perfectly tells the story and isn't vastly confusing to look at with nice certain details (e.g. horses)
Realistically I don't see any reason to avoid the manga but there's no major reason to read it either if the premise doesn't suit your fancy, it's not drop worthy but it might have a bit of a "why did I read this" effect on someone not interested.

This is one of those cases where it feels like a such a close tease at what could've been a good adaptation and just falls short of being an absolute banger by not being real.

If you want to watch this and don't know or care for guilty gear don't bother with this special there's little to nothing to gain, and for a fan who hasn't seen it yet you need to keep in mind it's just a 5 minute long promo movie at the start of one of the games you're getting what you imagined.
although that being said the voice acting is funny and it's ... really sweet to see some of my favorite characters fully animated, as hard as it is to admit it's actually pretty good the animation and style is really nicely done with little to no flaws.

Long story short if you have 5 minutes to blow and like guilty gear go for it you have nothing to lose except a hope for a real anime someday.

This manga is just perfectly fine. it has plenty of content fit for screenshotting and using as reaction images online. it has enough moments i chuckled or found funny, maybe i even sent some panels to friends because i liked them.
but man it's lacking something for me.

Pop Team Epic just feels no different from reading your standard 4Koma, the humor is kind of dry and mostly made up of references to things such as Video games *Pop* culture or parodying anime/manga tropes (or in general meta humor).
as an example there's a reference about the game Metal Slug, and if you haven't played metal slug the ... joke likely isn't going to connect.

I expected more from half of the comedy than just, [reference to thing] [the end] but it's 100% intentional and a complete shitpost of a manga, for what i got it's just fine, there's just nothing to have you non-stop laugh on the floor unless you really like reference humor to that degree. which is okay! i'd just like to see something more interesting done with it personally is all.

The artwork is perfect. in a simplistic way and it adds comedic effect to the dialogue which is all you need, in fact the style is straight up ICONIC. I've seen so many artworks of random characters straight up drawn in this style.

I'm glad I read this and got a good chunk of the humor without looking into any of it, but I couldn't rate it much higher than a 6. I enjoyed it so i hope you do too if it sounds like your thing but it is NOT a comedy for everyone at all.

Honestly, what can I say.
It's the long awaited sequel to a series I never even knew I needed to see.
this time around the story has changed things up yet again, and like the last episodes I learnt something new.

I can't even explain to you what's so good about it, just look for yourself and see.
the animation and voice acting is generally just decent and out does the original, even making a return of all the characters, although the biggest problems are the shorter episode count which limits the writing, making the characters less impactful as before,
plus the current lack of subtitles and educational content really ... doesn't help.

Watch Condom Battler Gorou: Revive for yourself, then you'll finally learn, although after heated debate I still prefer the original.

I came across Karasu accidentally and decided to check it out, after reading the description on it and finding out the writer of Shoiri Experience had worked on this I was really interested in it despite the low number of volumes and chapters available, I thought I'd found some kind of hidden gem.
But after the small time it took to read through it I can fully say it's not.

Story wise it's fine, it had insane potential and I have no clue what really happened in the background, but as it is there's literally nothing there. Art is subjective but the art here has some really ... uncanny look to it that doesn't help at all, and I actively think this has up there some of the unintentionally worst art I've ever seen in a manga.

There's a fair amount of the odd ecchi scattered around with leagues of characters who're introduced, never get developed then disappear. Nothing feels explained like the crucial "why should i care" that you'd think would be there.

Read it if you want, it wasn't offensively bad or disgusting and I'm sure the ecchi will turn someone on. but for me the literal only slightly redeeming quality is the potential it could've had.
